Emily's POV
It's funny how things work out. One minute, I'm a victim, the next minute, I'm the one pulling the strings. Elena is playing right into my hands. I can feel it. She's so caught up in trying to protect Gabriel, trying to "help" him, that she doesn't even realize how much I'm controlling this whole situation.
When I found out Elena had started working at his company, I almost laughed. The way she tried to play the hero, pretending to be some kind of knight in shining armor for Gabriel. It's almost cute. Almost.
But she has no idea what she's dealing with. Gabriel's a monster—he always has been. I know what he's capable of. I've seen it.
Anyway, back to the plan. I've been laying low for the past few days, keeping a close eye on Elena while she thinks she's keeping tabs on me. She's so blinded by her own desire to "save" Gabriel that she's practically blind to the truth. But I can't let her ruin my moment. Not now, not when I'm so close.
