Chapter 4

Ting!

Rachel inhaled and exhaled slowly, then half-heartedly exited the elevator as the steel doors clinked and opened.

Her nine-inch heels made a creak as she walk down the hall to her intended office room.

The 30-year-old woman paused for a moment in front of two large doors towering in front of her, as dashing as the owner of the room, whose name is now at the top of the black list of people she wants to avoid!

Putting aside everything that was running around in her mind, her hand rose to knock on the door. Not long after, that sexy voice came from the small speaker of the intercom to the right of the door.

"Who is there?"

Rachel held her breath that caught in her throat. Even after 10 years the sound still makes her heart vibrates.

The woman cleared her throat for a moment, before finally saying, "Rachel Lee, sir."

"Come in," said a voice from inside the speaker. Then the small green dot on the object turned red, indicating that someone in there had turned off the intercom.

Rachel tried to suppress her heart so it wouldn't come out of her chest cavity, as soon as her hand went up she pushed the door open.

The man is in there.

He sat on the edge of his desk with his arms crossed with his feet resting on each other as if he had been deliberately taking the time to wait for her arrival.

A silver shirt draped over him snugly, dark gray pants that at first glance look like black, a shiny loafer, and a Rolex Daytona watch wrapped around his wrist.

The man sat next to a name engraved in thick glass that read, 'Xavier Alexandre'.

The man's eyes narrowed, then took the initiative to move first when he found the woman still frozen in the doorway.

"Close the door."

Rachel gasped. Reflexively she turned and closed the door. The man's orders were always absolute. Firm and don't want to be denied.

Everything changed after the door closed completely, leaving them in the room. It was as if they had been thrown into a different world.

Suddenly a smile appeared on the handsome face. But it didn't last long before those dark eyes narrowed in dislike.

"Why when did we accidentally meet this morning, you act like you don't know me, huh?"

Her honey-brown eyes widened, it was obvious she was taken aback by the no-nonsense question.

Was that man insane?!

Had the man forgotten the current environment they were in? The fact that this man was… the boss?

"Sorry if that offended you." Rachel cut her eyes off, as another fact pulled her back into the maelstrom of painful reality. "Mr. Alexandre."

The man growled softly. He got up and walked over to her broadly. His burly body towered because the woman's height was only up to his chest.

Rachel jumped slowly as a fist flew to the side of her head until the door and the fist made a sound that echoed through the room.

"Don't ever call me that!" His eyes as dark as night flashed with anger. "You know best, our relationship is more than just a boss with his employees."

Rachel's eyes were still tightly closed, as the handsome face approached. A soft breath of mint and a pine-scented breath wafted in the crook of her neck, tickling her until the hairs on the back of her neck instantly shiver.

"Rachel Lee ... do I have to remind you, that I'm still the same person?"

Rachel could feel the man smirking in the crook of her neck. The breath moved along her neck, crawling up and ending in her jaw, kissing her for a long time before finally sinking into a warm embrace.

"I'm still the Xavier you knew ten years ago."

The man kept muttering the same line. One sentence that made her freeze. There was a feeling of happiness mixed with emotion, she even remained silent when the thick lips landed on his lips.

Her stiff body stiffened, but she didn't show the slightest bit of resistance. The kiss was so greedy full of thirst, seemed wild, rough, and demanding.

Rachel didn't fight back, but she didn't welcome the kiss. Xavier growled, then bit her lower lip hard. The woman reflexively opened her mouth, and without wasting time the man immediately explored it.

He's a good kisser! Xavier's a great kisser. The man kept provoking her tongue to wrestle, exploring every row of teeth and the roof of her mouth, making one sigh finally escape she couldn't hold back.

For a moment Rachel drifted away, closing her eyes as the kiss grew more intense. she didn't even realize it when Xavier's hand began to touch the chest that swelled behind the tight shirt she was wearing.

But one fact that she had known for a while back, seemed to hit her right on the head until she fully realized it.

With all her strength she pushed hard until the kiss broke, and Xavier suddenly took a few steps back. Both she and Xavier both gasped.

Rachel admitted that she had been wet down there. But she won't let her determination to move on and kick Xavier away from her heart and mind, just fade away because of a nostalgic kiss.

"We're done a long time ago," she reminded him.

Rachel saw the hurt look in Xavier's dark eyes.

Did she see it wrong? That sentence would hurt Xavier greatly if the man was still hers if the man was still for her. But not. There's no way Xavier was hurt when... when that guy...

The woman closed her eyes, then cursed softly as the fact hurt her again.

If Xavier was hurt, then she was much more hurt. Hurt by one fact that she hoped was just hearsay.

"If there's nothing to talk about, I'll excuse myself. Good afternoon, Mr. Alexandre."

Without waiting for an answer she immediately went out and closed the door with a bang. Rachel stifled a pulse in her chest, as she staggered down the hall, but instead of the elevator, she turned toward the emergency exit.

Rachel went inside and sat on the top step of the stairs. The fact that Xavier, whom she had been waiting for for ten years, turned out to be living a good life and was even preparing to marry another woman tore her heart deeply.

Rachel isn't a woman who is good at processing her heart so she can quickly find a soulmate. She was just a quiet woman who didn't even have anyone as a friend when she was at school.

Only Xavier, only Xavier can enter the world that she limits herself. Only Xavier can harass an introvert and anti-social like her.

Xavier Alexandre.

Someone from the past, someone she waited for, and who made her never open her heart to any man for the past ten years….

After ten years...

He came back.
