Chapter 11

"By the way, have you seen X?"

Of course, Rachel frowned in surprise hearing that. So this woman knows X? X, and not Xavier?

Because in this office people know and call X only Xavier or Mr. Alexandre.

Still, with a questioning expression, Rachel complied by pointing her index finger at the table where Xavier and Nancy were.

"Ah, there he is!" said Nathalie cheerfully. "Thanks, Rachel."

The woman trotted over to Xavier who was sitting with his back to them. She embraced his neck with both arms, then hanging spoiled with her head turned to Xavier at such a close distance.

Ah, soon Rachel realized that the woman was a lover—even Abi's fiancé. An unpretentious beautiful woman who is kind, friendly, and so considerate of others.

Rachel thought that it was only right for Xavier to move on and even intend to marry Nathalie because that woman was far more everything than her.

Rachel smiled wryly, then immediately left the place because she realized she still needed time to look 'fine' seeing Xavier with another woman.

Rachel is now increasingly convinced that her decision to reject Xavier's return was the right choice. She certainly would never be able to forgive herself if he sacrificed the feelings of a woman as good as Nathalie, for the sake of continuing her relationship with Xavier.

Xavier gasped in surprise when suddenly someone hugged him from behind. At first, he smiled, but suddenly turned disappointed when he saw that the woman embracing him was Nathalie and not Rachel.

Even though Rachel couldn't do that, still, for a split second, she hoped that Rachel, whom she loved, would do it.

Wait.

Xavier's face turned pale when he realized the direction of Nathalie's arrival. Didn't Rachel also go that way?

Xavier then turned back anxiously, afraid that Rachel might see the scene that had just happened, but suddenly he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the woman was no longer there.

"What are you looking at?" asked Nathalie with a spoiled gesture, as she turned to follow Xavier's gaze.

Xavier was annoyed. Then reflexively released Nathalie's arms around his neck.

"What are you doing here anyway?" said Xavier while lazily feeding rice into his mouth. He had lost his appetite because of the arrival of the woman next to him.

"I asked you to try a wedding outfit with me, but you're always busy." Nathalie's face scrunched up, her mouth pouted showing she was sulking at Xavier.

"Yeah, I'm really busy," said Xavier casually.

"Why is it so hard to take your time, honey? Even every time I ask you to have lunch together you always make the excuse that you want to eat in the canteen together with all the employees!"

"Isn't that the truth?" Xavier glanced sarcastically. "Can't you see where I'm eating now?"

Nancy was surprised to see how Xavier reacted to Nathalie, the woman she of course knew was her boss's fiancé. After more or less she eavesdropped on their conversation.

This was beyond Nancy's expectations.

How come?

Nancy thought, if Xavier was so kind and friendly to his employees who were other people, in fact rarely friendly, then surely the special woman who became his partner would be treated even better. They may even be treated like a queen, one of the things that have made Xavier the ideal man for women all this time.

Nancy then immediately stood up with her tray, even though she wasn't done with her lunch yet. She felt both awkward and uncomfortable, it was also rude to be in their midst and just watch their interactions.

"I'll go first. Excuse me, Mr. Alexandre," said Nancy and smiled at the two of them.

Xavier replied with a nod and a friendly smile. The opposite attitude to the attitude he showed to his fiancé, Nathalie.

Nathalie realized one thing. People in this office know X as Xavier or Mr. Alexandre. Whenever Nathalie asked about her fiancé by mentioning X, they would be confused, then Nathalie would correct it by calling the man Xavier Alexandre. Only then did people know who the man she was referring to was.

However, earlier when asking Rachel where X was... Nathalie mentioned X's name, not Xavier. And without hesitation, Rachel just pointed at Xavier.

Nathalie instantly thumped an anxious face, then subconsciously looked back at the place where she had passed Rachel.

Then her heartbeat was getting crazier when she realized that when she came Xavier had done the same thing, turned to look in that direction looking for someone.

Nathalie bit her nails anxiously. She hoped it was just a coincidence. Incidentally, Rachel did know Xavier's nickname, and it just so happened that Xavier looked that way earlier.

But still, her logic refuted and thought that it seemed like Rachel and Xavier did know each other, or rather personally know each other outside of work.

The woman turned to the side, at Xavier who seemed to be busy with his food.

"Honey, so when are we going to try on a wedding outfit? The time is getting closer, you know, we haven't even ordered a ring yet."

Xavier glanced at her flatly. "I told you, I'm busy."

"When do you have the time? You should take your time, it's about your wedding!" Nathalie coaxed a little annoyed, but at the same time, she reminded Xavier about their wedding plans.

For some reason, some bad thoughts about Rachel and Xavier make Nathalie feel that her position as a potential partner for Xavier's now being threatened.

Xavier looked no less annoyed. He went to finish his lunch and then looked at Nathalie who was still sitting in her chair.

"Listen, I'm too busy to take care of you and this wedding. I told you from the start, that if you agree to this marriage, then take care of it yourself. If you don't like it, ask your daddy to cancel it!" he said with annoyance and then left the place leaving his fiancé just like that.
