Chapter 4

Mount Moon was just like Tommy had imagined it to be.

After winning the boulder badge from Brock, Tommy wasted little time and immediately left for the mountain after getting Pikachu checked up at the pokemon center. There weren't many pokemons from the first generation that he was interested in catching. But, Mt. Moon had two species Tommy really wanted to catch.

Luckily, one of them was very easy to find.

"Alright, Nidoran. Let's see how your thunderbolt compares with that of Pika-bro's attack. Strike those Zubats down!"

"Nidooo-raan!"

The little bats went down like flies. Nidoran's thunderbolt was not as powerful as Pikachu's, but, it was getting there. Some of the Zubats were still awake and it appeared as it they were talking amongst each other.

Then, suddenly, one Zubat began extracting light from those awake who then fainted.

'Absorb... Smart.'

"Zubaaaat!!"

The little bat came back with a haymaker. A massive air cuttur left its wings at blinding speeds.

"Dodge it, Nidoran."

Air cutter was not a very accurate move. Nidoran easily dodged it.

"Zubaat!"

As the pokemon prepared itself to launch another attack, Tommy commanded, "Now, Nidoran! Sucker punch!"

The attack landed before the Zubat had a chance to launch the one it had prepared.

*Screech*

The pokemon went down with a pin filled scream. Tommy winced a little before throwing a pokeball at the falling Zubat.

*Wobble*

*Wobble*

*Ding*

"We got a Zubat!"

"Nido!"

"Let's see what you can do, you tenacious little bat."

Type: Poison/Flying

Zubat avoids sunlight because exposure causes it to become unhealthy. During daytime, it stays in the caves or under or in the eaves of old houses, sleeping while hanging upside down.

Confuse ray

Air cutter

Poison fang

Egg move: Pursuit

Ability: Inner focus]

"Hooo... Aren't you a nice, reliable one. Let's get you healed up and continue our journey."

The Zubat was a really good pokemon. She was very protective and the moment I healed her, she took it as her job to keep other Zubats from attacking me in the dark caverns of Mt. Moon.

I had a sample of moon stone with me. I had Alfie sniff it and follow the smell. Soon, I was standing close to a meteorite and a few Clefairy and Clefables joshing around without a concern in the world. I really didn't want to hurt those cute little pokemons. But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

I wanted a Clefairy. So I will catch a Clefairy.

"Alfie, we'll end this quickly. Smell the strongest one of the Clefaries and use quick attack turned into iron tail."

A confirmatory growl was all I needed before Alfie jumped into action. The little fairies were caught offguard. Alfie slammed his tail into a Clefairy and I immediately threw a pokeball at it.

The ball wobbled and after a *ding*, I knew I had my Clefairy.

"Alfie, use Iron tail on the meteorite. Let's get some more moon stones."

I left soon after with 5 new moon stones and a Clefairy.

On every night of a full moon, geoups of this pokemon come out to play. When dawn arrives the tired Clefairy return to their quiet mountain retreats and go to sleep nestled up against each other.

Egg move: Heal Pulse

Ability: Magic guard]

"Holy shit!! Magic guard?! I can teach her heavy hitting moves that would even hurt the user and she won't take recoil damage because of her ability! No poison or burn status damage!!"

There were three moves already in my mind that I had decided for Clefairy to learn. Along with heal pulse, I had a future powerhouse in my team.

Before I could make further plans, Clefairy's pokeball disappeared from my hand and then I remembered. I was only allowed to have a party of six pokemons at a given time as a registered participant in the Indigo League.

I could only sigh and postpone my plans till I reached Cerulean city.

Mt. Moon also had fossils in abundance. But, knowing what kind of pokemons those fossils belonged to, I had no interest in looking for them. Also, I didn't have a pokemon on my team that knew the move 'dig'.

I journeyed all the way out of thr mountain and decided to camp at a clearing nearby. I called all of my pokemons out of their pokeballs and introduced Zubat to the team. A Zubat evolves to a Golbat after enough training, but, for a Golbat to evolve into a Crobat, a trainer needed to have a close bond with the pokemon.

All seven of us slept by the campfire as the pokemons took turns in keeping guard from any pokemons that could come looking for food or simply be hostile towards humans.

Pokemons, such amazing creatures. I slept soundly dreaming of traveling all over the world befriending and studying the pokemons.

It was a marvelous world.
