Garage door

The sound system was fixed and all the invited people entered the cafe for the opening ceremony. For his speech, Monke only said, "have fun," and left. It was awkwardly silent for a second as a lot of people expected him as a businessman to say something worthwhile.

In the past, it would've been considered crazy talk to have an all-out celebration during the day. In these times the world demanded it, nobody alive now even noticed anything unordinary. The nighttime celebrations were for the rich and wealthy and also for local or national level stuff.

Nonetheless, they still had to be approved by a local council or high court otherwise the mafias would be partying day in and day out.

Po was constantly checking his watch as he sipped on a pinkish drink in a weirdly curvy glass and an umbrella in it. Next to him was Joao playing with his hair and next to him was Monke. Monke was reading through a webcomic in a tablet, these tablets belonged to the VVIP room which was almost separated from the club entirely.

Its walls were soundproof and it had much better lighting and ventilation, and air conditioner could also be spotted in the room but it was not running because they conserving its eco points. Like the taps, things like air conditioners work on eco points or prints. Their usage determines how long one could enjoy their service.

There were other appliances and homes that utilized natural energy resources but even they had their limitations, greatly brought about by the use of electric cars. In fact, almost everything now was powered by electricity.

Bored after an hour of binging chapters, Monke placed the tab into a semispherical dark black charger. The tab beeped and everyone who had their heads lowered quickly raised them to look at Monke. He shut down the charger and the tablet screen went black.

"What?" Monke asked.

Monty shook his head and went back into fiddling with his laptop. There three other guys in the room, they wore black suits, shades, and earpieces. Their hairstyle was almost uniform, a clean fade and thick clump of hair in the middle.

They were known as the junior executers, easily identifiable an ark angel tattoo on their necks. They are good fighters also partaking in various sport codes, the three here being in basketball, tennis, and boxing.

They were here because the boss and his legion had left for a get together in the city. Monke's teacher, the guy who gave up his position as underboss for him, the now capo of this subgroup of Divinity was supposed to have been left in charge. But he also disappeared, now Divinity was completely in the hands of teenagers. Although just a part of a bigger group, if Divinity of Babylon 3rd were to lose it's position because of this decision it wouldn't reflect very well on the main house.

Monty was extra cautious because of this, he didn't want Monke to recruit just anyone into becoming a permanent member hastily. Any rash decision made could forever cripple them. But that still wasn't a good reason to be staring at him from behind a mask and some black shades.

Monty quickly lowered his head and reabsorbed himself into his laptop as Joao started glaring at him. After a few seconds, he got angry at himself from being threatened by Joao's glare.

He quickly raised his head and stared back. He couldn't keep eye contact with Joao for more than a second, as soon as their eyes met his heart sank and rose so quickly it almost choked him to death.

Joao's gaze was dark and felt oppressive to look at, Monty felt like he could taste his own blood after meeting with it.

Meanwhile, Joao was stuck in his thoughts wondering if Tumi was going to hunt him down until one of them was dead. He was currently thinking about how they could meet after he leaves this place. He thought about the many, many ways he could kill him, shall the situation lead to that.

By the time he snapped out of his thoughts, Monke and Po had already left the room. He rubbed the tip of Po's glass and immediately left, 'they just took off.' True to Joao's thoughts, Monke and Po had just left the room then. The junior executioners came into view as soon as he left the room.

He quietly followed them outside and to the cars parked by the side of the cafe. Monty was and he seeing Joao following the bulky guys around like an airhead made him immediately forget about earlier.

"If you continue idling around like that you'll get us in trouble," Monty said as he disappeared into the darkness of the alley.

Joao followed behind without putting up a fight, he was still dazed. He walked into the darkness and continued walking until the hall started illuminating itself. As soon as he made his way deeper into the hall that looked like a parking space he noticed the others.

Most of the people here were either wearing suits or school uniforms, nothing casual. Most of them he recognized and the more he did he noticed that there were no associates there, only soldiers, permanent members, and those of higher ranks.

Joao immediately got himself together and looked for Monke and Po but ended up finding Monty instead. It was very easy considering that Monty was already staring at him. He could've sworn he heard Monty laugh at him, but he didn't have a chance to retaliate. He turned around to leave and heard a loud crash coming from the dark side.

He jumped and looked back at the rest of the crowd. No one seemed to be interested in the sound and so he deduced that it must be a door closing or a gate. Either way, he was now stuck in a secret meeting which he was lured into by Monty.
