After waiting for everyone to leave, Sun Wukong got out of his bed and approached the window. After extending his staff and sliding down, he started to look around.
"How do they know I'm sneaking out?" He said inwardly as he started to look around.
After 10 minutes of looking around and checking if he was being followed, he decided to give up and make his way to the danger room.
While walking on the green grass and having the wind blow gently on his face, he started to hear something.
"What are you doing walking around in the middle of the night?" He heard a female voice coming from his right.
"I could ask you the same thing." Said Wukong as he was met with a green-haired girl whose hair matched the grass. If she weren't sitting against a brown tree she would have completely blended in. It didn't help that she had sharp green eyes that matched her hair.
What was most disturbing however was how Wukong didn't notice her. She wasn't even trying to hide. Although he had things on his mind, it went to show how far this body had to go before it was comparable to his original.
"I like to come out at night when it's quiet. It's relaxing." As she was met with silence, she continued.
"Aren't you that new boy who's infamous for causing chaos in the short time that he's been here?" She asked with a tilted head.
"That's my reputation? Nice." He said with a grin.
"What are you reading?" He asked.
After a few seconds, she answered, not wanting to talk much with this boy. "A book about various mythological beings."
His ears perked up as he heard this, he looked around his surroundings, and with much reluctance, he spoke. "Have you ever heard about the Monkey King?"
"Isn't that the Chinese myth?"
It seemed that even in this world, humans knew a little about him.
"Oh, he's more than a Myth. He's a legend." He said placing his staff down and taking a seat beside her, to which she didn't mind since he was talking about something interesting.
"You see, this legendary figure, also known as Sun Wukong, was a mischievous and powerful creature who roamed the lands. Born from a stone, he possessed incredible strength, agility, and other supernatural abilities."
As he could see that this girl was listening intensely, he continued.
"The Monkey King's adventures were truly remarkable. He possessed a magical sta…" After looking at his staff on the floor and realising that he almost screwed up, he changed his words.
"He possessed magical weapons that would allow him to reach the heavens." He said as he coughed a few times. The girl noticed this as she scrunched her face in confusion.
"With his mighty weapon in hand, he fearlessly challenged the gods themselves."
"The gods, in their celestial realm, grew wary of Sun Wukong's audacity and decided to test his mettle. They invited him to their heavenly banquet, hoping to humble the monkey and put him in his place. However, the Monkey King's insatiable appetite led him to eat all the divine fruits and drink, much to the dismay of the gods."
Saying this the girl giggled as she found the Monkey King's personality amusing.
"Undeterred by the gods' tricks, Sun Wukong continued his exploits. He ventured to the East Sea, where he encountered the Dragon King, and demanded a weapon worthy of his might. The Dragon King provided him with a suit of golden armour and a magical headband that could not be removed. The items granted the Monkey King even greater power and protection."
"The gods, growing more desperate, concocted a plan to subdue the indomitable Monkey King. They invited him to their heavenly palace once again, this time offering him a prestigious position as the Keeper of the Heavenly Stables. However, it was a ruse."
The girl's small smile she had shown up until now, quickly changed to a frown as she was deeply invested in the story.
"The gods used their magic to seal him beneath a mountain, imprisoning him for five hundred years."
"Sun Wukong's fall from grace was a bitter blow, but it was not the end of his story. Eventually, a monk named Xuanzang embarked on a sacred journey to retrieve Buddhist scriptures from a far land." He said as he had trouble pronouncing the monk's name with this body's tongue.
"The Monkey King, seeking redemption, pledged to protect and assist the monk on his perilous quest."
"Together, the monk and the Monkey King faced countless trials and tribulations, battling demons, monsters, and other supernatural beings. Sun Wukong's incredible powers and cleverness proved invaluable in their journey, as he fought off all that dared to obstruct his path."
"Through their shared adventures, the Monkey King gradually learned humility and the true meaning of heroism. His journey became a quest for self-discovery and enlightenment, as he sought to overcome his own flaws and embrace his destiny as a protector and sage."
"So you see, the story of the Monkey King is one of resilience, redemption and the triumph of the spirit. It teaches us that even the mightiest can fall, but it is how we rise and learn from our mistakes that define us in the end."
The girl's eyes glistened as she was left speechless. Meanwhile, Wukong had looked at the time and had seen he spent almost an hour storytelling.
"I've got to go. Bye." Before she could say anything he had gotten up and bolted for the danger room.
"Wait, my name… my name is Lorna. Lorna Dane." She said as she held her hand up and he turned around.
"No way! The daughter of Magneto! What are the chances?" He thought.
"I'm Illian," he said as he waved and ran away.
While he ran, he thought about the story he had just told her. His fists tightened as he gritted his teeth. He wished. He wished the story ended there and had a happy ending. But it was the opposite. To the point that all he could remember were the screams and deaths of his loved ones.
Fueling his goal for revenge even further, he kicked off the floor and as he accelerated to the danger room, rejecting the possibility that this was the end of his legacy.
After a few minutes, he finally arrived at the danger room. Pushing all the unnecessary thoughts out of his head, he entered and picked up a disc.
"Sorry, Mr blue man. I won't be fighting you today." He said as he started to press some things.
He made an effort to learn about the discs since he would be training with them, therefore he had much less trouble than usual while summoning his enemy.
When he did he was met with a blue man. However, it was different to the usual blue man. The first blue man had an athletic physique. While this one was more on the bulkier side as he towered over Wukong, almost comparable to a gorilla.
"The blue man with Colossus's attributes. This'll be fun." Saying this he kicked off the floor as the two warriors sprinted toward each other, ready for battle.
~12 Hours Later~
Wukong laid on the danger room floor in a peculiar sleeping position as he snored and drooled. He dozed off last night as he didn't care much about returning to the medical ward. They already knew he was sneaking out anyway.
Soon he felt a few small taps on his shoulder before waking up and rubbing his eyes to get a better look at who woke him up.
Only to be met with a blue man. Not the usual blue man he would interact with, but another. This blue man's skin was a deep shade of navy blue as it was covered in fine, velvety fur. The fur gave him a distinctively tactile and feline-like texture.
The…man, stared at Wukong with large yellow eyes that somehow had a gentle and compassionate look to them, reflecting his kind-hearted nature.
However, what was most noticeable was the prehensile tail that was long and extended from the base of his spine.
"Greetings, my friend! It appears you're running a tad behind schedule for your duel. The clock's ticked away, and you find yourself in a bit of a teleportation hiccup. But fear not, for Nightcrawler is here to help…" Before he could finish his sentence Wukong cut him off.
"The fight!" He shouted as he sprang up and zoomed out of the danger rooms forgetting who Nightcrawler was and his ability.
Kurt's long ears twitched slightly, he was confused. Not because of the peculiar nature of the boy, but because when people usually saw him, they never failed to have an expression of disgust, fear and/or judgment. However, this boy didn't even seem to notice. As if he's seen strange-looking people his whole life.
Wukong ran as cursed inwardly. After taking a quick look at his staff he started to slow down. After a couple of seconds, he placed his staff on the ground and spoke "The landing's gonna be rough."
Before he could do whatever he was planning, he heard a 'BAMF!' beside him as he saw the strange blue man appear beside him. Seeing this he had finally remembered who this was.
"Allow me." Said Nightcrawler.
"Wow, thanks, man." Said Wukong as he placed his hand on the 3 fingered hand of the other.
After another 'BAMF!', they were teleported to what looked to be an arena with an open sky and grass on the floor. Countless students as well as staff decorated the stands as they looked frustrated as if they were bored.
"Good luck. By the way, my name is Kurt." said the man.
"Hey thanks, I owe you one." Said Wukong as Kurt teleported away.
Wukong looked around in the stands and saw a few familiar faces.
"Hey!" He waved at Alex who had a swollen and bruised nose with bandages around them.
"How's your face!" He shouted, prompting everyone to widen their eyes thinking Alex might unleash an energy blast at him.
However, all he did was tighten his fists as he stared at Wukong with menacing eyes.
"Don't worry. Peter will put him in his place." Said Scott as he sat with Bobby, Jean, Alex, Lorna and a familiar brunette with white strands of hair.
"Anna, why do they hate him?" Asked Lorna as she looked at the brunette sitting beside her who was called Anna.
"You were there, weren't you? He attacked Alex." She explained.
"Ah, yes. What do you think about him?" Asked Lorna.
"I think he's a troublemaker who disrupts the natural balance of the school." She said with a face of indifference.
"What do you mean?"
Without answering, Anna looked at Lorna without saying anything. "It's not like you to be so interested in a boy, Lorna."
After saying this, the green-haired girl's face went red as she felt embarrassed. "I'm not. I agree with you. He's a troublemaker." She said, turning away.
"Oh, he must be mad at me." Said Wukong inwardly after seeing Alex's reaction to him. To be honest he didn't know why he had attacked Alex. Same with the two other idiots. Usually, he wouldn't have done so much damage. However, all he remembers is feeling uncontrollable rage. The thoughts in his head were being overshadowed by strange feelings he had never felt before.
But alas, he didn't care much about it. It was probably just the frustration and anger that he had been feeling ever since he came to this world, being let out and unleashed.
"If you're ready, I'd like to begin." While in deep thought he had heard the voice of a thick Russian speaking to him.
"Me too." After saying this, Storm landed from the sky, acting as the referee.
"Does he really think he's going to beat Peter?"
"I don't know, but someone needs to put that kid in his place."
"Leave it to Colossus to keep order of the rebellious newcomers. I'll be surprised if the kid lives after this."
Chatter of condescension and mockery shrouded the arena. Wukong however, did not bat an eye to this as he held his calm face.
"Are both of you ready?" Asked Ororo, as both of them gave a determined nod.
"Then let the duel begin!" She declared as the whole arena roared in excitement.
"Let's see if what I learnt last night will pay off."
