The Novice's Feat

As Reed grabbed the bag of money and walked out of the tavern, he noticed the sun was already setting and realized he needed to find an inn where he could stay for the night. But he knew they wouldn't let him in, at least not in the current way he looked.

Immediately, he decided to rush to Quinn's store, hoping he could buy some clothes before it got too dark.

As he ran, the slime on his body slowly faded away before he got there.

Upon arriving at Quinn's store, he saw it was still open and decided to walk in. Inside, he saw Quinn, who had just started to pack up.

"Oh, if it isn't Sir Reed. It seems you are still in your old-fashioned attire. What can I do for you this fine evening?" Quinn greeted.

Reed demanded that he sell him clothing he could wear for the night, something affordable and not too expensive.

Quinn replied, "Splendid, I've got just the thing," immediately entered his clothes rack and bring out his three best elegant robes for healers, saying this was the best he had in that caliber.

Reed stared at the three robes Quinn brought, thinking about which one he would buy. The first was red with a sleek appearance, but Reed didn't like the color red. He moved on to the next, which was black with a somewhat dark magician vibe to it.

This was a no-go for Reed, as he believed it would brand him a heretic and make everything he'd do seem more sketchy. The final one was brown, a common color that wouldn't attract much attention.

Reed decided to buy the third robe, asking Quinn, "How much is it?"

Quinn, wanting to keep Reed as a friend, decided to give him a special discount. "This is supposed to sell for around 30 coppers, but because I'm selling to no one other than you, Sir, I shall reduce the price by 50% and now sell it for 15 copper coins," he said, bowing.

"Much appreciated," Reed said and handed the money over to Quinn.

After purchasing the brown robe, Reed quickly changed into it in the store's fitting room. Though it was brown and of common grade, the fabric was smooth and comfortable, a significant improvement from his previous appearance.

Now in a more presentable attire, Reed thanked Quinn once more and headed out. By the time Reed left the store, it was already dark. The sky had a deep shade of twilight, and the villagers were all in their respective homes.

Reed made his way through the village. The inn wasn't far, and he hoped they still had rooms available so he could lay on the bed and set it as a respawn point.

As he approached the inn, the warm glow of lanterns illuminated the building, giving it a welcoming feeling.

Reed stepped inside the inn, greeted by the pleasant aroma of home-cooked food and the murmur of conversations. He approached the innkeeper, a middle-aged woman named Selma with kind eyes.

"Good evening. I need a room for the night," Reed said boldly.

The innkeeper looked him up and down, noting his clean outfit. "We have a few rooms available. It's 5 coppers for the night," she replied.

Reed nodded and handed over the coins. "I'll take it."

She handed him a key. "Your room is upstairs, third door on the left. Enjoy your stay."

Reed thanked her and headed to his room. Once he got inside, he locked the door and took a deep breath, finally allowing himself to relax.

Reed sat down on the bed, feeling the fatigue of today's battles catching up to him. Despite all he had been through, he came out on top.

But it wasn't yet time to relax. Reed was a cautious guy and had to check his stats one last time for today before he went to sleep.

"With this, I should be able to swing my blade faster now," he muttered.

Today was surprisingly fruitful. He didn't plan on meeting the field boss but still ended up defeating it. Now Reed had another goal in mind: goblins.

Reed lay on his bed, thinking of the goblin assassin and his odd attack patterns, and eventually drifted off to sleep.

Meanwhile, somewhere in 'Arcane,' a dungeon raid had finally ended.

Axel, a high-level player, heard about the new feat recorded in the Hall of Fame and thought he should share it with his guild master.

"Master Dante, did you hear about the novice who fought against a horde of slimes? I heard he accomplished this without any armor, holding just an old rusty knife," Axel explained.

His guild master Dante, a powerful player, sat on top of the defeated boss monster. "Indeed, it sounds quite interesting," he muttered.

"If such a player truly exists, in the future there will be no limit to the possibilities of what he could do," Dante mused.

Turning to Axel, Dante instructed him to send some of the guild members to keep an eye on the newbies and inform him of any changes. Things were about to get interesting.
