Her mind started to work in strange angles as a smirk graced her face. "Olivia..." Reginald spoke in a tired voice. This was not what he wanted from the beginning. He wanted them to solve things and now they were heading back to square one. "Don't mention my name in that manner." She slammed her eyes shut for a second before opening them. This was because she started to feel confused. "Olivia!" Reginald called out again, this time with great force that said he wanted her to focus on what they were talking about. Stupid...

The look in her gray eyes started to crack up as soon as she had seen his outline in the dark. He never moved an inch, but stood watching her as though she was an interesting play.

Olivia frowned seeing he never approached her or say a word. As the night breeze kept whipping hard at her frame, her facial expression turned grim-er.

Her long nails dug deep into her palm as she realized he was there. She was forced to come to terms on what was supposed to happen tonight, but she wasn't allowing that.

Hesitantly, she took a step, while the moonlight fell on her dark curls, making them glisten in the dark.

Reginald didn't remove his pointed gaze. He watched her move toward him, her movements stiff. Reginald rolled his eyes at the thought of losing himself after being slapped by the reality of their marriage.

It wasn't like it was forced on them. The Princess made it seem like she had been forced to accept his marriage. What's worse, she kept sending those gaze that spoke of hidden accusations.

He wondered if he did anything to make her react like this. Last time he checked, he had never done anything to offend her. It was quite frustrating how someone who was neutral to the way she was being described in rumors became what she was described.

"There will be no need for us to share a room tonight. I'll be sleeping in the guest room... for a peace of mind." Her cool voice resonated in the windy balcony.

One could figure their shadowy outlines if they were heading toward the balcony. Their silhouettes looked perfect together, while the wind kept slapping their hair. Keeping it dancing in the air.

Reginald never reacted to the words she said. Instead, he hummed as a response before he turned to leave the balcony.

Watching his tall, masculine figure leaving her in the terrace made her hands trembled by her sides. A part of her had expected him to oppose to her choice.

Olivia snickered at herself, recalling that she was nothing to him. Or to anyone. At this rate it was better she avoided thinking about him, as it would give her a mental breakdown. As for Adele and Madeline, they would get what was coming for them.

She just had to settle in with her new life, even though she hated it. Princess Olivia was going to focus on developing herself, and preparing to take the role of being Reginald's wife.

Olivia knew that if she was the daughter-in-law to the General, she shouldn't be a pushover. And she was going to change that. Now!

She turned around and stared at the amber lights coming from the windows of the dwellers, before she slammed her eyes shut.

Now that she thought of it, her decision to take the guest room was stupid. She didn't even know her way around the Hayes' mansion, built akin a castle.

"Stupid..." She slurred out in a lazy voice. Olivia dragged her feet to the ceramic railing and placed her elbow on it. She leaned forward, letting the moon bathe her face.

Remembering Reginald never said a word when she suggested that, made her blood boil. He knew she never knew her way around. But why did he agree to it?

Was he planning on making her sleep out here?

She knew he never liked her, but his attitude alone was too much. So much for the vows exchanged today. She thought before.

Well... It was a good thing she never chose to stay with him. Olivia would find her way to the guest room, using that way to tour the mansion.

Her hands grabbed the hair accessories on the ceramic. At the same time she remembered her belongings would have been moved. Long before they got her.

She clenched her jaw at the thought of her personal belongings in the room they were to share. Sigh...

"Your highness??" A soft voice called out. The wind carried the sound to her ears and Olivia was quick to whip her head the direction it came from.

A slender figure dressed in a maid's outfit trodded toward her. She bowed her head, and lifted it. The moon fell on her face, revealing a pair of electric-blue eyes.

Olivia never said a word, as she waited for the maid to speak. The maid gestured toward the entrance back to the large living room. "I've been instructed to guide you to your assigned room." Her words were careful, and there was no sign of fear toward Olivia.

For a moment, the Princess was glad the maid never reacted to her presence. It made her sigh in relief that there were people who acted normal around her. It was not like she weighed a lot of power.

"Alright, do lead the way." She shrugged and held the accessories. The maid's electric eyes had caught what was on her hand, and wanted to grab it.

But Princess Olivia never allowed her. She told the young maid that she was okay holding it. The girl didn't do anything but accept her choice. She walked after the Princess, while her gaze were lowered to her feet.

As they got back into the shelter, Olivia started to notice the intricate designs on the shiny-brown painted wall. The walls were decorated with huge portraits of people she had no idea of.

They narrowed down to a hallway that was lit with wall candelabras. Each candlestick giving off an orange glow, as they swayed slowly at the tip. She took her gaze and noticed a stairway ahead of them.

The dark stairs snaked upward a huge, gray pillar, while its flooring looked like it was made of dark marble stones.

The Princess could only marvel at the beauty of the Hayes mansion, committing every places they passed to memory.

The maid had mounted a stair, and Olivia followed after her. She saw candelabras lighting up the stairway accompanied with a streak of moon rays from the large window by the side.

The house seemed calm. Obviously, the servants were busy in the kitchen. Probably cleaning up the mess created by today's event.

They had finally reached the end of the stairway and she stopped by a door. The maid turned to her and bowed.

After that, she opened the door, revealing the room she was to spend the night in. The moment itself was a slow motion because the Princess expected something else.

But alas, her jaw slacked open as soon as the door was opened widely.
