Miraculous; Retold (Season 1)

Matinette was just an ordinary school girl. Her life was perfect, a loving mum and dad, great friends and even a crush on a famous model who just happens to be a sweetheart in her class. However, she is not without problems. She needs to keep her identity as the famous hero, Ladybug, a secret from everyone, including her superhero partner, Cat Noir. Adrian was no ordinary boy. Being the son of a famous fashion designer was tough enough. He couldn't escape his father's control. He had to fight to go to school, fight to hang out with his friends and fight to see the brief glimpses of his father that he does see. He had a very lonely life. That changed, though, the day he got powers. The day he became Cat Noir. A fan retelling of Miraculous season 1, following the episodes with some changes to the story.

Adrian paced outside the classroom, phone in hand, slowly losing hope his Father would pick up. He looked into the classroom occasionally at all the other parents who turned up. Even the mayor was able to make time for Chloe but his father couldn't? It had been days since Adrian spoke to him. The phone eventually reached voicemail. "His father, it's me. It's Parent's Career Day at school, remember? I was hoping that you were gonna show up. Call me back, if you can, please?" he requested, hanging up almost immediately. He let out a sigh. Why does he bother? His father would never come. Still, Adrian couldn't set free that tiny part of him that was hopeful - that screamed his father would be climbing the stairs at any minute. There was no one. Defeated, Adrian returned to his seat in class. Marinette's dad had finished talking and Marinette was left to hand out freshly baked croissants to the class. Adrian put his phone in his bag, not caring that he knocked it over. She placed a croissant on his desk then, with a forced smile put on to cheer him up, she placed a macaroon next to it just for him. Marinette moved on. Adrian placed his head on his desk to hide his sadness, staring at Chloe who was showing off to Sabrina. "It's beautiful," Sabrina complimented, reaching out to take the bracelet. Chloe slapped her hand. "Look, don't touch," Chloe scolded. The mayor, her dad, leaned in and quietly said, "Put it away. It could get in the wrong hands." Marinette placed a croissant in front of the two girls. "I wonder how many croissants your dad would have to sell to buy you one of these? What am I saying? He'd have to sell the whole store!" Chloe taunted. Marinette seemed calm, however, when she responded, "Well, you're rich, so, obviously, you don't need free croissants." She took the treat back and moved on. Adrian smiled a little. If only he could stand up to his father the way Marinette stood up to Chloe. He can barely look at the man. Chloe placed her bracelet carefully in her bag. She noticed Ardian was looking at him and waved. He lifted his hand, not having the energy to properly wave. Marinette was making her way back down the aisle with some spare croissants on her tray. Adrian was about to thank her for the macaroon when, in classic Marinette fashion, she tripped over Chloe's bag. "Geez, is there a day when you're not tripping over something?" Chloe asked. Adrian glared at her then went to help Marinette pick up the treats. The blonde rolled her eyes and picked her bag up. "Next on the list is Sabrina's father, a policeman. Officer Roger!" the teacher announced, being so used to Marinette's clumsiness she barely noticed it. "You okay?" Adrian whispered. Their faces were so close he could feel her breath. Marinette's face went red. She tripped over so often Adrian just assumed she'd no longer be embarrassed by it. "My bracelet! It's gone! I had it a second ago!" Chloe yelled, interrupting the police officer. "You! You stole it!" She pointed to Marinette who jumped up to meet the girl's gaze. "What? What are you talking about?" she asked in surprise. "You purposefully tripped on my bag so you could steal my bracelet!" she yelled. "My daughter is not a thief!" Marinette's dad asserted. Adrian heard his phone buzzing. He looked to the teacher who nodded before walking to where the commotion was. Adrian grabbed his bag and left. This was it. His father was calling to tell him he was on his way. He was sure of it. Adrian, outside the class, looked at the caller ID on his phone. Nathalie, not his father. Could just be she was asked to call him whilst his father worked in the car. He picked up.

Marinette slammed her tray on the nearby desk and angrily told Chloe, "I didn't take your bracelet!" All she did was trip on the bag. It probably rolled out. How could she just assume it was stolen? Marinette's dad and the Mayor started yelling at each other too, and a screaming match began with the four. A loud whistle silenced everyone. "Hold on a minute, Miss Bourgeois, we don't accuse without proof! Now, everyone, calm down, please. Maybe you simply misplaced your bracelet," the police officer suggested. Chloe turned sharply to the man. "You calling me a liar?" she asked. The man shook his head but before he could explain, Chloe shouted, "Daddy!" The mayor sprung into action, demanding, "Roger, I demand you search this girl!" The teacher defensively put her hands up and said, "Everybody, please!" She was ignored. "Need I remind you that as mayor of this city, I am your superior!" the mayor warned. Was he using his status to force the officer into searching her? What! W-Was he serious? Marinette looked to her dad for help, eyes wide with panic. She didn't take it but at this rate, she was going to be arrested, then sent to jail, then Adrian would think she was a criminal and never want to date her! "But sir, it's against the law! I can't just go-" the police officer tried but the mayor cut him off. "All right. Then you're no longer a police officer!" Everyone fell silent. Can he just do that? Marinette's chest tightened. It didn't matter if she did anything wrong, if Chloe wanted it, her dad would make sure she would be sent to jail. "Mayor, you can't be serious! Over a missing bracelet? Sir, it is probably around here somewhere," the officer said. He got down on his hands and knees, searching the floor. "This is my daughter's bracelet we're talking about! You're incompetent and you're fired! Get out!" the mayor demanded. Angrily, the officer pulled himself to his feet and stormed out. Smugly, Chloe said, "Good! Let's call Ladybug! I'm sure she'll actually do something!" Marinette rolled her eyes. No, she wouldn't. The mayor stepped closer to Marinette and her dad quickly placed himself between the man and his daughter. "Don't even think about getting near my daughter or her bag!" he warned. The mayor leaned in close and asked, "Do you know who I am?" From the front of the room, the teacher scolded, "Please, gentlemen! This is a school here! Think of the children! Surely the bracelet is around here someplace." Marinette went onto her hands and knees and said, "It probably just rolled out of her bag or something." She began to search around the desks, stifling a laugh when Alya quietly muttered, "If I were her bracelet, I'd try and get as far away as possible from that crazy brat too." Marinette looked up to her friends, silently begging them to help. She spotted Nino on his phone, filming the whole thing. Evidence! "Hey! Nino's been filming everything this whole time! We can see what really happened," she said, sure this would clear her. Nino sunk in his seat. Marinette knew he wanted to stay out of this but Chloe was so sure she took it. Everyone gathered around the boy, leaving him no choice. Nino sighed and stopped filming.

Adrian hung up and leaned on the balcony over the stairs. Once again, his father was missing an event he invited him to. Tears started to form in his eyes. Was it something he did? Was he the problem? His mother would have come. His mother...would have come...He lowered his head to hide his sobbing. "Hey! You can't just walk in here!" someone bellow yelled. Adrian looked down where he saw a janitor speaking to a large, bulky man in a strange costume who responded, "I can go wherever I want, whenever I want. I am the law." The janitor stood his ground. "Well, I'm the authority around here," he declared. The strange man pointed his arm at the man and said in a robotic voice, "You are guilty of obstructing the path of justice! I sentence you to run around!" Blue and red cuffs formed around the man's wrists and, all of a sudden, he started running laps around the school. Adrian wiped his eyes and took a deep breath. He can be upset later. Cat Noir is needed. He rushed off to the locker room to transform.

Marinette pulled herself away from the group gathered around Nino and pointed at Sabrina. "Well, there you have it! Sabrina was holding Chloé's bracelet!" she declared. Sabrina shot out of her seat and squeaked, "Yes! But I gave it back straight after!" She sent Chloe a pleading look to confirm this. "Chloe, why don't you take a look in your BFF's bag?" Marinette doubled down. She didn't really think Sabrina stole it but she didn't want to take the blame. Besides, Chloe and Sabrina were best friends. There was no way Chloe would actually blame her. "Are you saying I'm a thief?" Sabrina asked, outraged. Her hands balled up and her teeth gritted. "Nope! Chloe's the one calling people thieves without any proof. I'm simply going from what's on the video," she replied. Sabrina stormed over to the girl and dropped her bag in front of her. This startled Nathaniel who dropped his sketchbook in front of the group. He quickly dropped with it and gathered the pieces of paper that scattered across the floor. There was a drawing of the bracelet. "Yes, I did sketch the bracelet, but I didn't do anything else!" Nathaniel explained before anyone could accuse him. "See, Chloe? I tripped on the bag, but Sabrina held the bracelet, Nathaniel sketched it, we are all suspects!" Marinette told the blonde. She crossed her arms and waited to see Chloe's response. "What's that supposed to mean? I didn't swipe her bracelet!" Nathaniel defended. Marinette's arms uncrossed and danced around as she said, "And neither did I! But when it comes down to it, Chloe can accuse anyone and everyone!" Chloe just smiled like she won. "Fine! Since you're a suspect, you'll have no problem letting me search your bag," she said. Marinette's brows furrowed. "Okay! As long as you also search everyone else's too!" Marinette bargained. Everyone protested this. Her dad placed his hand on Marinette's shoulder and said, "Marinette, let the adults handle this." Marinette turned to her dad and said, "Papa, she called me a thief! I'm just defending myself." He was gentle with his words but they cut deep. "You're also accusing all of your friends like Chloe's doing to you," her dad pointed out. Marinette lowered her head in shame. That was the third time someone compared her to Chloe...He had a point, though. Chloe only accused her. Marinette was the one stating everyone in class was a suspect in a theft she didn't believe happened. The door suddenly burst open. A man in a bulky, plastic-looking suit marched into the room. "Where is the mayor?" he asked in a robotic voice. "Dad?" Sabrina asked in confusion. She was the only one to speak. "Where is the mayor?" he asked again. Marinette looked around the room. No one was watching ger. She took a step closer to the door. Then another and another until eventually, she managed to sneak into the hall. Her dad was in there, though. Marinette couldn't leave her dad alone if he was in danger. Ladybug could stop the villain more easily but Marinette was there and she'll do in a pinch. She listened carefully. "If no one speaks up, I'll put you all under arrest! Where is your father?" the cop said. Chloe answered, "I don't know." Marinette pressed herself into the wall and closed her eyes. She had to do something. She had to do something. "Mr Principal, I demand that you find who stole my daughter's bracelet ASAP! Or your job is on the line, sir!" the mayor yelled from the principal's office. Marinette dove away to the bathrooms when she heard the heavy footsteps of the robotic cop. She checked the stalls then locked herself in the last one. Just before transforming, she punched the door and placed her head against it. This was her fault. Sure, Chloe accused her but if she just stopped fighting and actually tried to look for the bracelet, Sabrina's dad wouldn't have been vilified. "Spots on," she muttered sadly.

Cat Noir made it to the principal's office before the villain. "I'm warning you! If you don't find my daughter's bracelet by this evening, I'll cut off all your city funds for the school. Understood?" the mayor threatened. The principal pleaded, sounding particularly distressed, "But sir, how am I supposed to-" Cat Noir threw the door open, interrupting the two. "Mr Mayor, we gotta go," he said, glancing into the hall. "Didn't anyone teach you to knock before entering?" the mayor scolded. Seriously? Cat Noir opened the window and grabbed the mayor. "There's a villain out there whose wires are a bit crossed and is coming for you, now going down?" he asked. The mayor looked at the door then the hero. Cat Noir extended his staff out the window and waited for the mayor. They both weren't going to fit through the window together. The mayor cautiously climbed out the window and held the staff, sliding down to safety. He could hear in the hall Ladybug stalling the villain. She must go to the school. How else would she be here so quickly? If he thought that, she was probably coming close to figuring out who he was. The hero tapped his foot impatiently, growing antsy as the noise became louder.

Ladybug threw her yoyo at the villain just before he could reach the principal's office. It wrapped around his arm and forced him to turn his attention to the hero. "Ladybug. Paris has a new righter of wrong. Your services are no longer required," he told her. "Hawkmoth won't let you! So long as you are using powers he gave you, you can't be a hero," she warned. The hero thought of Nathaniel and his hand. Hawkmoth could cause pain and remove the powers easily. She jumped back when he fired a laser at her. She was about to retaliate when Chloe marched out of the class and demanded, "Mr Roger...cop, I need your help." Ladybug pushed Chloe aside and dodged another laser, jumping down to the area the janitor was running around. The villain followed, also ignoring Chloe. What was with her and this bracelet? She could easily just get another one. The villain stomped right past the hero and out of the building. Ladybug followed him with her eyes until she spotted the mayor climbing into his limo. She threw her yoyo at the villain but couldn't stop him. He lifted his hand and, as he had been doing with Ladybug, tried to shoot the mayor. Fortunately, at that moment, Cat Noir landed on his arm, throwing off his aim. It hit the limo instead. "You are disturbing justice, Cat Noir. You are going to pay for this," the villain said as the hero jumped off him and landed defensively. "You can add bodily harm to the charges!" he quipped, dodging lasers fired at him by the villain. Ladybug spun her yoyo but was unable to jump into the fight without getting hit herself. Cat Noir pounced like a cat around the villain and hopped onto his back. Cat Noir took out his staff but before he could be hit, the villain grabbed it and threw him into a nearby bin. "Listen! You're Sabrina's dad and a good cop! Don't let the evil person who gave you these powers make an evil cop out of you!" Ladybug tried. Talking the villain out of it had yet to work but this one was a police officer! They were on the same side! His face went blank as he processed this. A purple outline of a butterfly appeared around his eyes and he declared, "Justice must prevail in the streets of Paris!" He started to shoot his lasers again. Ladybug leaped out the way and slid down the railing towards him. She was about to land a kick when he effortlessly caught her leg and threw her over the school and into the roofless area where the janitor was running. Ladybug sat up and rubbed her head. One day talking will work. One day someone will be able to resist being vilified. Her head was spinning. She just needed a moment to gather herself.

Cat Noir was dazed. The universe could not give him a more clear sign that he was rubbish. A sleek, futuristic police car pulled up next to him and the villain pulled the door open. He stopped and turned. "Mr Rogercop! I've got a serious problem! Worse than a bad hair day!" Chloe whined. The villain simply turned away and climbed into his vehicle, saying, "Come with me and we'll talk about it." Surely Chloe was smart enough to not get in. Surely she was aware no one would take her bracelet. Cat Noir was hopeful as he tried to pull himself out of the bin. Despite all logic, Chloe climbed into the car. Cat Noir sprung out of the bin, knocking it over, and used his staff to catapult him onto the car roof. Chloe...He would never forgive himself if she got hurt. They may be drifting apart now but she was the only one who was there for him growing up. They were best friends! Out of nowhere, the wheels turned so the wheel caps were facing the ground and the car began to hover. Cat Noir gripped the car as the ground got further and further away. How could it move so quickly? "Kitty!" Ladybug yelled. He looked down and saw she was doing her best to keep up from way down below. Her yoyo shot into the air but couldn't quite reach. He gathered enough courage to let one hand release the car and used it to hold his staff out for her. The yoyo wrapped around it. Cat Noir pulled it close to him and pulled his partner onto the vehicle. "I bet you missed me," Ladybug flirted. That was his thing. He must be winning her over. He smirked but before he could respond, the car started spinning. Whilst the heroes struggled to cling to the car, the villain effortlessly climbed out and stood on the roof. "Did I ever thank you for the lift?" Cat Noir joked despite the current danger. He should have been taking it more seriously. The villain just stood there waiting as it became harder and harder to keep ahold of the car. Ladybug couldn't hang on any longer. Cat Noir tried to catch her but he wasn't quick enough. She fell. The only hope he had that she would be safe was the yoyo that was flying towards the car. It missed. Too much was happening. Cat Noir was grabbed by Rodgercop and held over the side. One thing at a time. One hand was stuck in the villain's grip. He was about to take his miraculous. Ladybug was gone. What could he do? Without thinking it through, Cat Noir used his free hand to drop his staff to his feet and thrust the indestructible weapon into the exhaust pipe. The car spluttered for a split second then a small explosion forced the villain to drop the hero and the staff to be spat out. This was it. This was how he died. Even if he did land on his feet, he didn't have nine lives. Cat Noir couldn't reach the staff that fell just a hair's breadth away from him. He failed. His green eyes closed as he braces for impact.

Ladybug held her yoyo as her partner hung from the lamppost, hands bound to his side by her weapon's string. One eye opened then the other and his whole face lit up with joy. She let out a sigh of relief. He was okay. She waited a moment for him to catch his breath. She needed a moment to process the fall so she assumed he did too. Instead, he let out a chuckle and flirted, "Well, hey. I'm head over heels to see you, my lady." He was back to normal. "You really fell for me too. You good, kitty?" she asked. He nodded, adding, "But if you kissed me I'd feel even better." Ladybug gently lowered him down. "Maybe next time," she replied, holding her hand to help him up. She was glad he was fine. His flirting actually put her at ease. It let her know things were no different. She was staring. Stop staring. Say something. "You're welcome. You owe me one," was what she blurted out. Why! 'You owe me one?' What was wrong with her? He almost died. Again. He never said that to her when he saved her from death. "Sure thing. But I'll take the credit for that," he replied, pointing to the sky where the flying car was in the process of an emergency landing. "Nice work, kitty. There's no point running after him anyway. He's way out of our reach now," she said. She looked up at him and once again, they were in sync. "Well, if it's the mayor he wants..." Cat noir started, Ladybug finishing, "He'll be heading straight for the City Hall." A smile formed on her face as a plan started to come together. If they split up, Cat Noir could enter through the window and sneak up behind him whilst she kept him distracted. "Do I sense a plan?"

A pit formed in Cat Noir's stomach as they arrived at the city hall. Police were lined up outside and a car-shaped hole was carved into the door. He looked to Ladybug who had the same bad feeling. The two screens that were attached to each side of the city hall switched on. The mayor sat before the camera with his hands cuffed and paper resting in front of him. "Paris has a new superpower. His name is Rogercop. I hereby relinquish all authority to Rogercop. All citizens are ordered to answer at him..." he announced, voice dripping with defeat. Cat Noir's eyes widened. The villain had won... "It's not over yet, kitty," Ladybug whispered. It was like she was telling herself more than him. The mayor was pushed out of the way and Rodgercop came into view. "Ladybug and Cat Noir are now outlaws. They must be hunted out and taken into custody immediately," the villain declared. Not good. The police all turned to the heroes. They weren't actually going to- They lunched at the heroes. Cat Noir grabbed Ladybug before they could be dogpiled and used his staff to pull them out of the crowd. They had nowhere to go, however. The staff wobbled as the police tried to knock it down. Ladybug used her yoyo to pull them both to the nearest roof. She frantically walked away from him then turned back like she remembered something. "Uh, change of plans. Split up! Detransform. Meet here at eight," she rapidly said. She turned away once more then sharply looked back at him, specifying, "As heroes." Finally, she left. Cat Noir ran along the roofs until he was far enough away from the police that he could safely transform in one of the allys. As Adrian, he emerged and let out a sigh. What a mess. He should charge his Miraculous. Adrian slipped his hand into his bag to pull out some cheese. He was surprised when he grasped a cold, metallic ring the size of a hand. Filled with dread, he pulled it out. Chloe's bracelet. How did it get in there? It must have rolled in there when Marinette tripped. He had it the whole time? He was the reason the fighting started. He caused this whole situation. It was all his fault. Adrian needed to make this right! He pulled out the cheese and held it next to the ring. The jewelry absorbed the food and the paw engraving glowed for a moment. Now he was ready!

Ladybug sat on the roof as she waited for Cat Noir. How could a missing bracelet cause this much damage? She pressed herself against the chimney as a helicopter passed overhead. She hoped Cat Noir was safe. As she thought this, he landed on the roof and leaped into the shadows with her. "So now, we're the nation's most-wanted felons?" Cat Noir complained. "And we haven't done anything!" Ladybug added. Twice in one day? She was supposed to be the lucky one. "Exactly! You can't accuse someone without proof!" This silenced Ladybug. She already knew that. She already did that...Cat Noir sighed. "How many times have we saved Paris?" he asked, voice laced with hurt. She matched his tone and answered, "We're still saving Paris." Both pressed themselves into the shadows again as another helicopter passed overhead. "I scouted the building. The only way in is the front door. One of us can get in if there is a distraction," she told him. He nodded in agreement. "I can bug those police better than you," he said. Ladybug nodded. Cat Noir lept from the roof and landed amongst the police where he started dancing. Ladybug, when the coast was clear, jumped down next to the entrance. "Does that mean you won't be joining me?" she heard Cat Noir say before dodging attacks. She ran into the city hall and snuck up the stairs to the room the mayor was being held. She poked her head in and saw both Chloe and the mayor handcuffed whilst sitting at the desk. Rodgercop was facing the window, looking out on his empire. Ladybug rolled to a table with a model of Paris. She hid behind it and peeked out to ensure she wasn't seen. Chloe was staring at her with a huge grin on her face. Dread washed over Ladybug. Chloe was too big a fan to contain her excitement and the whole plan could be ruined because of it. Ladybug put her finger to her lips, receiving a nod from the blonde. She turned to Rogercop and studied him. Where could the butterfly be? Her eyes scanned him until she spotted the whistle still around his neck. It had to be in there. There was nowhere else for it. "It's okay, daddy. Ladybug is here," Chloe whispered. The room was too quiet for her to have not been heard. Ladybug ducked behind the table again as the villain turned to inspect the room. Chloe! All you had to do was keep quiet! One thing! Rodgercop fired at her, forcing Ladybug out from her hiding place to avoid them. She spun her yoyo as a shield and stood in the open. "Ladybug, it is time for justice to prevail," he told her, pausing his attacks. She kept her yoyo spinning regardless and declared, "You got justice and revenge mixed up!"

Cat Noir ran through the building as quickly as he could. He hoped he didn't hurt the officers too much. He lunged into the mayor's office and prepared for an attack, his staff ready to defend himself. Ladybug flipped away from his fire and landed beside her partner. Before they could say anything, a loud whistle sounded throughout the room and Rodgercop's robotic voice ordered, "Get them." Cat Noir looked around until he saw the mayor and Chloe running towards them, their hands held out as though the cuffs were pulling them along. He ducked down and lifted the mayor over his head, Ladybug handling Chloe. Together, they threw the pair out of the room and slammed the door closed, blocking it with one of the chairs. They were trapped with their villain. The two barely had a chance to catch their breath as, almost immediately, Rodgercop started firing at them again. Cat Noir jumped out first, followed by Ladybug, and hid behind the table with the model of Paris. Ladybug held her hands over her head and whimpered whilst Cat Noir jumped with fright at every laser that passed them. "I-It must be in his whistle," she told him, "We need to get it." The lasers stopped when Cat Noir asked, "How?" A loud bang came from above them. Cat Noir looked up and leaped away in time to dodge a laser. Ladybug yelled, "Lucky Charm," as she made her way to under the mayor's desk. Cat Noir caught the oven gloves that appeared and followed her to the desk. They were in sync! If it weren't for the danger and formidable foe, this would be fun - exciting, even. He handed it to her and said, "Whenever you're ready, my lady. I'll stall from here." He knew exactly how, too. Keeping his head down, he called out, "You think you're the good guy here? What you're doing is wrong! You're a dictator working for Hawkmoth. Who knows what'll happen if he gets our Miraculouses." The lasers stopped. Cat Noir expected to be told he was wrong. He expected some response that brushed his point off as nonsense. To his surprise, Rodgercop responded, "Paris won't need heroes. I will stop Hawkmoth." He poked his head out and stared at the villain with wide eyes. Was he serious? What! "I will keep everyone safe," he continued, "Everyone will be held accountable under the law. Heroes will be unnecessary." Ladybug pulled Cat Noir back as a purple outline appeared on the villain's face. "Maybe he has a point. We haven't come close to defeating Hawkmoth," she whispered. He shook his head. This wasn't like her. "If he wins, we lose out powers and Hawkmoth can just take his back," he pointed out. Ladybug looked at the oven gloves again and said, "Okay, kitty. I have a plan." With a smile, Cat Noir asked, "What do you need, my lady?"

Ladybug ran around the room, avoiding a new burst of lasers until she grabbed a belt. She returned to her cover where Cat Noir was hiding, handing her Chloe's bracelet. "Where did you get this?" she asked, struggling to contain her anger. "Oh, just lying around." She got a man fired, vilified, and the whole city was taken over for a bracelet she dropped in her dad's office? She must've had it on her the whole time! As she burned through angry thoughts, she pieced together the objects, forming a pair of handcuffs. She handed them to Cat Noir. "You'll know when to put them on him," she said. Her head poked out, waiting for a chance to leap from her hiding place. Once there was an opening, she signaled Cat Noir. They both avoided lasers to the best of their abilities until she, in one swift move, flew through the air and wrapped her yoyo around Rodgercop. She landed gracefully and pulled it tight. Cat Noir darted forward with the make-shift cuffs at the ready. Rodgercop lifted his arm, pulling Ladybug forward a bit, then fired. Cat Noir's hand was cuffed to the bookcase, the make-shift handcuffs still in his hands. Ladybug looked to him, gripping the yoyo tighter. Her mind was a storm of thoughts, a new plan forming. They were all so complicated, involving luring him outside, dropping a cage on him, pouring water on him. Cat Noir threw the handcuffs to her, offering a simpler solution. Ladybug caught them and, without a second thought, pulled the yoyo tighter so he could not move. Quickly, she ran at him and before his laser could hit, flipped over his head, stuffing the cuffs on his hands. She smiled. Of course, her partner found the simplest, successful solution when she was entertaining all manner of ideas. "I gotcha," she said as she snatched his whistle from around his neck. Before she could stomp on the whistle, he said, "He is tall." Ladybug stopped. "He is tall," Rodgercop repeated, "About seven foot. He is white, too." Ladybug looked to Cat Noir whose jaw dropped. Could Rodgercop really be helping them? "He wears a butterfly br-" he grunted and closed his eyes tight, his arms trembling, "A broach on a necktie." The pain began to seep into his voice as he tried to continue. "Ladybug, do it," Cat Noir ordered. "Come on. We need more than that," she pleaded. Rodgercop began to stutter, unable to go on. He shook more violently, causing Ladybug to stomp on the whistle in a panic. She captured the butterfly that emerged and released it as pure white and powerless. Then, as usual, she threw her yoyo in the air and reset everything.

As soon as he was free, Cat Noir rushed to the cop. Ladybug knelt beside him, ensuring he was okay. It was as if nothing happened. "Do you remember anything? Can you tell us more?" she asked. He shook his head. "Sorry, Ladybug. My mind's blank," he answered. Cat Noir helped the man to his feet. She should have freed the butterfly as soon as he started to hurt. She was a hero, and he knew all too well that a hero puts the safety of the citizens above his own selfish wants. "Thank you, sir. You were a great help," she said. Her earring beeped loudly and she looked to Cat Noir. He also knew they had to stop Hawkmoth and the only way to do that was to gather as much information as they could. She held her fist out to him with a smile on her face. He met it, knowing she did what she had to. "As Rodgercop would say, Justice has prevailed in the streets of Paris," he joked. Ladybug giggled. "I'll take care of him," he said. Ladybug glanced at his ring. He smirked and flirted, "I'd not stick around if there was a chance you'd see me without my mask... You wouldn't be able to resist me." She threw open the windows and said after another giggle, "I doubt that but I'll have to take your word for it." She threw her yoyo and just like that, she was gone. Cat Noir picked up Chloe's bracelet and dropped it into her bag. Then, he opened the door and brought the mayor and Chloe inside, checking they, too were okay. The police officer handed the blonde girl her bag, saying apologetically, "I think this belongs to you, miss." Cat Noir avoided eye contact. He could blame Chloe easily for the whole situation but, in the end, he was the one with the bracelet and he could not deny his involvement. She dug into it and pulled out the bracelet, saying with confusion, "But...How?" The mayor's face lit up as he praised, "Roger! You found the bracelet!" The police officer smiled proudly, humbly responding, "Actually it turns out it was in Chloe's bag all along! Must've fallen into a side pocket when that girl tripped over it." The mayor placed a hand on his shoulder. "Well, Roger, I do apologize for being so accusatory, and firing you for no good reason." Cat Noir looked up sharply. He didn't realize he, um, Chloe, um, the bracelet had gotten the police officer fired. His guilt doubled. He needed to make it up to them. His class too. He made his way to the window. "He really gave us a hard time. I'm glad he is helping us protect Paris," he said, hoping this hint would be picked up on. "You're absolutely right.
