DAVID'S POV

"So what do you think about Jessica?"Mom teased me.I looked at her confused as to why she was asking this question out of a sudden but then my attention went towards my best friend who was very sincerely eating his breakfast.First of all why was he here.

"Don't you have some work."I glared at him and he pouted.It was his fault,I shouldn't have told him anything about that night.

"Aee,you talk to me.He is a very good kid unlike you."My mom scolded me taking his side and I looked at her in disbelief.She can't be serious.

"I am out of here.Bye."I got up shaking my head at my family.As I was about to get up my phone rang flashing Jessica's number.A smile danced on my lips immediately.I answered her call and sat back on the chair.

"Hello."I said and looked up to see that my entire family,literally my entire family staring at me without blinking their eyes. "Please hold for two minutes."I said and glared at them.

"What is wrong with you'll?I said and slapped my forehead. "Bye I am leaving."I said and left before anyone could say anything but my mom shouted behind my back.

"Say hi to my daughter in law."I shook my head and left not bothering to answer her.

"Sorry bout that."I apologised and heard her laugh. "Laugh all you want we'll talk when you are in the same situation."I said and she laughed more.

"Okay okay."She said but I could picture her laughing a little but I smiled. "Are you busy?"

"Nope.I am leaving for office but other than that I am free."I said and got in my car.I signalled the driver to take me to my office. "What's up?"

"I called cause I had nothing to do.Thought I could trouble you."I chuckled and she joined in.We had grown pretty comfortable with each other over the past few days.We did not meet after that night but we would talk or chat all the time.

"Ohh.But just so you know,you won't ever trouble me.I'll be happy to entertain you."I know sappy but that is what had happened to me and this was one of the reason behind me being teased.I was someone who would cringe when people said something like this and I was turning out to be the same.

We talked for sometime more and then hung up.I had reached my office.It was a hectic day at work.I had a ton of meetings lined up and for some reason dad had stopped coming to work.He said he was going to announce his retirement soon.

It was 6 in the evening and I was already tired.I stretched a bit and rested back on the chair when there was a knock on the door.

"Come in."I called and sat a bit straighter.

"Mr.Carter you have a meeting at The Pacific in an hour with Mr.Stephens."My assistant informed and I nodded.

"Okay inform the driver I'll be down in 10 minutes.Also please keep all the required documents in the car."I dismissed her.I sighed without dad it was a bit difficult.

I put on my coat and picked my laptop and went down.The car was already waiting for me.I quickly sat and we drove towards the pacific.

"Hello Mr.Stephen."We shook hands. "Apologies to keep you waiting."I smiled apologetically.

"Thats okay young man.Should we start?"I nodded and we began.

It was around 7:30 when we finished our meet.The deal was cracked. "I would have my lawyer send the papers."I said and he nodded.We shook hands and he left.

I was done for the day,thank the lord.I was pretty tired but I was pushing through.I had to hit the gym after this.I returned home changed and put on a hoodie and some shorts.

"Where are you going?"My mom enquired looking at me dressed.

"The initial plan was to go to the gym but I am going for a run."I said and she nodded.

I put on my AirPods and took off.I was running towards the Central Park.It was more peaceful there and since I had my hoodie on nobody would really see me.

It was 9 when I got home to find my mom and dad waiting for me at the dinner table. "You carry on.I'll be back in 15 minutes."

I quickly showered,changed and returned down.My dad had finished his dinner when I sat. "David come in the study after you finish your dinner."I nodded.

"Haven't I told you guys you are not supposed to talk business at home."She scolded my dad but my held a serious expression.

"Umm mom,I am sure it must be something serious or he wouldn't have."I explained to her and gave my dad a nod.

I quickly finished my dinner and left. "Ask your dad to come fast otherwise he will keep you there for the whole night."She joked and I chuckled.I saluted and left.

The study was on the ground floor.It was at the end of the hall away from my parents room.My room was on the first floor with all the other rooms that is the library,the theatre room,the games room and the gym.

I knocked on the door and after a fait come on I entered.Dad was seated on the chair amongst all the papers.I sat in front of him patiently waiting for him to finish his work.

"You remember Carl right?"He asked still doing something on his laptop.I nodded and he looked at me. "He has escaped from the prison."I looked at him shocked.How could that be possible? "I got a call from the cops yesterday.They are trying to find him but he is underground."He informed.

"We need to be careful dad.I will tighten up the security."I said and he nodded.After a little while we left.I straight went to my room and did a bit of important things.The first thing on my mind was to increase the security.

A little backstory on who is Carl.George Anderson his dad was a fellow businessman.He was trying to get my dad killed as my dad knew he was into some illegal business but before my dad could do anything he committed suicide.Reason being simple he didn't want his family to suffer so committing suicide was an easy option than jail cause jail would mean his company shares going down.

Coming two years later his son thought my dad was responsible for his death which is true.So he tried killing my entire family including me but we somehow put him in jail but he has escaped.I hope it is not confusing.
