Chp 4

DAVID'S POV

It had been a week after that dinner.It was a busy week with me travelling London for a business conference.Me and Jessica didn't meet and neither did I try to contact her.No,I don't love her nor do I like her but she did seem like a fun person.

"Are you still stuck in that girls dreams?"Jake entered my office and got me out of my thoughts.My mom and dad told him god knows what and now he thinks I am in love with her.

"Rubbish.I have more important work to do."I brushed it off turning to my MacBook.

"Lie all you want but it is written all over your face.How desperate you are to meet her again."I rolled my eyes and gave him a glare. "So your dad has fulfilled your wish."He said chugging the glass of water kept on my table.

I looked at him with wide eyes and he looked at me coolly.I hope he is kidding.And true to my words he burst out laughing.I threw a pen at him hitting him on his forehead making him shout.

"Owww.What was that for?"He asked rubbing the spot on which the pen hit him.

"For lying you dick."I said and he laughed again.

"It wasn't a complete lie."He said.

"What do you mean?"I asked impatiently.

"It was her father,he called you guys for dinner tonight."He completed and I nodded. "Soo excited,to meet your wife?"He smiled mischievously.

Instead of answering I got up and walked towards the other table and picked a paperweight.I knew he was looking at my every action.I acted like I was throwing it on him and he ran away.I sat on my chair and sighed.After a second Jake peeped in again. "I wasn't lying her dad has called you for dinner tonight.And say hi to her to you future wife."He ran after saying this while I muttered curses to him.I am surely not in love.I don't like her,do I?

It was late in the evening.My phone was continuously buzzing with calls and messages but I had to ignore them all.It was around 9 when I finished my work.I left my office and called mom.

"Where are you David?You knew we had to go for dinner right."She questioned as soon as I called.

"I knew mom but I couldn't really get out of work today."I explained and she hummed. "I am really tired so I'll be heading home."I told her.

"Okay but please have dinner before you sleep."She requested and I answered with a yes.I ordered for a takeaway but canceled it and asked the driver to take me to Mr.Parkers house.

I was surprised myself as to why I did it.I cannot come up with a reason or an excuse.I just wanted to go there.No idea why.Seems filmy?

I reached there and I almost gave my mum an heart attack. "How are you here?You were going to go home."She asked after recovering from the shock.

I just shrugged.She looked at me,scrutinising me but I let it go.My eyes landed on the others and they were just as surprised as my mother to see me but they didn't question.

"Can I please freshen up?"I asked Mrs.Parker.

"Jess why don't you show him to the guest room."She asked her daughter.

"Oh its fine.Let her have her dinner.I can go freshen up."I quickly said but Jessica was already out of her seat.

She walked ahead and entered the second room on the right. "There are towels in the upper cabinet."She pointed towards the cabinet and I nodded muttering a thanks.

"Sorry to interrupt your meal."I apologised and she shrugged.

"It was nothing really.Its fine."I smiled. "I'll head out then."I nodded and she left closing the door behind her.

I quickly freshened up doing my best to look and feel a little better.I went out once I was done.Jessica looked at me and I passed her a tired smile.We had food with talks around the table.

We had our dessert and I sat on the couch with a thud wanting nothing more than to have a peaceful sleep.I could see Jess whispering something to my mother but I ignored it.

"I think we should leave.David is really tired and it is also a little late."I mouthed a thank you to my mother and she nodded with a smile.

We all got up when my mother walked up to me. "Thank Jessica she was the one who noticed you were tired."She said and moved ahead.I looked at Jessica who was walking a few feet behind all of us.I walked a bit slow so she could catch up to me.

"Thanks mom told me."I said with a smile.

"I should thank you actually.In spite of being tired you came."She said.

We bid bye to the Parkers and left towards our home.I wanted to really go and sleep but my parents wanted to have some really important talk so I waited.

"Mom,dad can't this wait.I am really tired."I gave them my best puppy dog face but that didn't melt them.

"I am afraid this needs to be done today."My dad said and sat besides me. "What is your call on marriage?"My dad questioned.

"I guess this can wait I am going to sleep."Seriously this is what his question was.I rolled my eyes and got up but he stopped me.

"Son I am serious.I really want to know what you think about it.Will you ever get married or no."He asked.

I sat back down and inhaled deeply. "I want to het married I really do but I don't love anyone.Nor any girl has caught my attention.....yet."I answered truly.

"What do you think about arranged marriage?Are you open to them?"My mom asked this time.

I had never really thought about arranged marriage.Not that I was against it.Now that I thought about it I didn't mind them.I had no girlfriend,there was no girl I was interested in it could work for me. "I am okay with it dad."I agreed. "But why this question all of a sudden that too this late at night?"I asked.

"Because we both think we have found a perfect girl for you."My mother answered and I looked at her.

"What?When?Why am I knowing about this now?"I asked immediately.

"That is because we just found her."My dad said and I gave him a confused look but reality hit me soon and my eyes widened on its own accord.

"Jessica."I said and they both nodded.

" What do you think?"My mum asked.

"I don't know.I am soo confused right now."I said.It was true there were a lot of things going on in my head. "Does she have any idea?"I asked.

"She wasn't there when her parents and we spoke."I nodded. "Listen you don't have to take a decision now.Take your time.Think about it and then let us know.You can talk to her,meet her.This is her number."My mother gave a paper with a number scribbled on it.I nodded and wished my parents a good night.

Sleep had flown out of the window.I was already confused now this had just created a chaos in my head.I didn't know her.Sure she seemed nice but a decision so big as marriage can that be taken on that judgement.

Arranged marriage sure did seem nice and perfect down but it had left me in a bundle of nerves.It had me perplexed all the way more if that's even possible.
