Lucien paced back and forth in his chambers, his frustration growing with each passing moment. His men had scoured the castle and its surroundings but had come back empty-handed. Samantha was nowhere to be found, and he couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in his gut.
As he turned to head out of the room, he noticed a figure sitting on their bed. Samantha looked dishevelled, her eyes red from crying. His heart sank at the sight of her pain, and he rushed to her side.
"Samantha, what happened? Are you hurt?" he asked, taking her in his arms.
"I don't know, Lucien. Everything is so confusing. Aiden came and took me away. He said I was in danger, but I don't remember anything," Samantha replied, sobbing into his chest.
Lucien's heart clenched at the mention of Aiden's name. He knew the werewolf alpha would do anything to win Samantha back, even if it meant using underhanded tactics. But he couldn't let Aiden get in the way of their love.
"Shh, it's alright, my love. I'm here for you. I won't let anyone hurt you," Lucien said, stroking her hair gently.
Samantha clung to him, her tears slowly subsiding as he held her close. "I feel like I'm lost, Lucien. Like there's a part of me missing. Aiden said something about us being close, but I don't remember any of it," she said, her voice trembling.
Lucien's heart ached at the thought of Samantha not remembering their love. He knew they had something special, something that transcended the boundaries of their respective species. He had to find a way to help her remember.
"Samantha, I know this is all very confusing, but I want you to know that I love you. With every fibre of my being. You are the missing piece of my life, and I will do everything in my power to help you remember," he said, looking deep into her eyes.
Samantha gazed back at him, her eyes full of confusion and longing. "Lucien, I feel something for you too. Something that I can't explain. But Aiden said something about us being mates. That we belong together," she said, looking away.
Lucien's jaw tightened at the mention of Aiden's words. He knew the werewolf was trying to sow seeds of doubt in Samantha's mind, but he couldn't let that happen. "Samantha, don't listen to Aiden. He's trying to manipulate you. Our love is real, and it's stronger than anything he could ever offer you," he said, taking her chin in his hand and making her look at him.
Samantha's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at him as if seeing him for the first time. "Lucien, I...I don't know what to believe. Everything is so confusing," she said, her voice trembling.
Lucien held Samantha close, feeling the warmth of her body against his as he brushed her hair away from her face. He didn't want to let her go, not after finding her in such a state.
"Shh, it's okay. I'm here now," Lucien whispered, trying to soothe her.
Samantha looked up at him, her eyes red from crying. "I'm sorry, Lucien. I didn't mean to upset you."
"It's not your fault, my love. I was just worried about you," Lucien replied, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Samantha leaned into his embrace, feeling safe and protected in his arms. "I don't know what's happening to me. I feel so lost and confused," she said.
"I know, Samantha. But I'm here for you. I'll help you figure things out," Lucien promised.
Samantha sighed, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Thank you, Lucien. You're always so good to me."
Lucien smiled down at her, his heart swelling with affection. He couldn't deny the intense connection he felt towards her. It was like a magnetic pull that he couldn't resist. "I'll always be good to you, Samantha. You mean everything to me."
Samantha leaned up and kissed him, the softness of her lips sending shivers down his spine. Lucien deepened the kiss, his hands roaming over her body. He had missed her so much, and he wanted nothing more than to be close to her.
As they pulled away, Samantha looked up at him with a mix of desire and uncertainty in her eyes. "Lucien, there's something I need to tell you."
"What is it, Samantha?" Lucien asked, his concern growing.
"I don't know how to say this, but... I think I might have feelings for someone else," Samantha said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lucien's heart sank as he processed her words. He didn't want to believe it, but he couldn't ignore the possibility that she was referring to Aiden. "Who, Samantha? Who do you have feelings for?"
Samantha hesitated, her eyes downcast. "Aiden. I know it sounds crazy, but I can't shake the feeling that he's important to me somehow."
Lucien clenched his jaw, feeling a wave of jealousy and anger wash over him. Aiden was a constant thorn in his side, and the thought of Samantha being drawn to him only made things worse. "Samantha, you can't trust Aiden. He's not good for you. He's a werewolf, and he'll only bring you pain and heartache."
"But Lucien, I don't remember anything. I don't know who to trust or what to believe," Samantha replied, her voice pleading.
Lucien softened, feeling a pang of guilt for his outburst. "I'm sorry, Samantha. I shouldn't have reacted like that. It's just... I don't want to lose you. You mean everything to me, and the thought of you being with someone else... it's unbearable."
Samantha looked up at him, her eyes filled with compassion. "Lucien, I don't want to lose you either. But I need to figure things out. I need to know who I am and what I want."
Lucien nodded, feeling a sense of resignation wash over him. He knew he couldn't force Samantha to feel a certain way, no matter how much he wanted to. "I understand, Samantha. I just hope that when you do figure things out, you'll realize that we belong together."
Samantha nodded, feeling conflicted but determined
