Ryo woke up early, the first light of dawn filtering through the curtains of his room.
His mind was set on one goal: to become the greatest hero. Just like his dad, he had to get stronger, so he marched into the kitchen where his father, All Might, was already preparing breakfast.
Ryo took a deep breath before speaking up.
"Dad, I want to start training," He said, his small voice steady but filled with determination.
"I want to get better with my quirks and get stronger."
All Might, who was flipping pancakes, paused mid-flip and turned to look at his son.
There was a mixture of pride and surprise in his eyes as he set the spatula down and knelt at Ryo's level.
"That's a big decision, Ryo," He said, placing a hand on his son's shoulder.
"Are you sure you're ready for it?"
Ryo nodded firmly. "I am."
All Might couldn't help but smile at the resolve in his son's eyes. "Alright then," He said, standing up.
"But before you start using your quirk, we need to work on building your physical strength and combat skills. That's the foundation of becoming a great hero."
Ryo tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean?"
All Might chuckled warmly and ruffled Ryo's hair. "To be a hero, it's not just about having a strong quirk. You need to be physically strong, too. A good hero can't rely only on their quirk. They need to be able to fight, to endure, and to protect others even when their quirk isn't enough."
Ryo nodded, not fully understanding but trusting his father's wisdom.
"Okay, Dad. I'll do it."
All Might lead Ryo outside to their spacious backyard, which was large enough to serve as a training ground. The morning air was crisp, and the grass was cool under their feet.
All Might took a deep breath, remembering his grueling training days, and then turned to face Ryo.
"First, we're going to start with some basic drills," All Might began. "These exercises will help you build strength and stamina. We'll work on your endurance, agility, and coordination. It won't be easy but if you stick with it, you'll see the results.
Ryo's eyes widened slightly at the sound of it, but he nodded determinedly. He was ready to do whatever it took.
"Alright, let's start with some warm-up laps around the yard," All Might instructed.
Ryo took off at a run, his little legs pumping as fast as they could. The yard seemed massive, and each lap felt like a marathon.
By the time he completed the first lap, his breath was already coming in gasps. But he didn't stop. He pushed himself to keep going, determined not to disappoint his father.
"Hah.... hah...."
After several laps, Ryo's legs felt like jelly, and he was drenched in sweat. His lungs burned with each breath, but he didn't complain. He knew this was only the beginning.
"All right, Ryo, now we'll move on to some push-ups," All Might called out.
Ryo dropped to the ground and tried to push his small body up. The first few were shaky and unsteady, and after just ten, his arms trembled with effort. He gritted his teeth, pushing through the discomfort. All Might watched with a careful eye, encouraging him when he saw Ryo struggling.
"Come on, Ryo, you can do it! Just a few more!" All Might cheered.
Ryo's arms burned, but he managed to push out a few more before collapsing onto the ground, panting heavily. The grass felt cool against his flushed face as he caught his breath.
"You're doing great, Ryo," All Might said, kneeling beside him. "But we're not done yet. Next, we're going to work on your agility."
All Might set up a simple obstacle course using cones and ropes, explaining how Ryo needed to weave in and out of the cones and jump over the ropes without touching them. Ryo stared at the course, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension.
"Remember, speed and precision are key," All Might said as he demonstrated how to navigate the course with his usual grace and speed.
Ryo nodded and took his position at the starting line. He took a deep breath and sprinted forward. The cones were close together, and Ryo had to focus on moving his feet quickly while staying balanced. His small body wove through the cones, though he stumbled a few times, almost knocking one over. He jumped over the ropes, but his foot caught on one, causing him to trip and fall.
All Might was there in an instant, helping Ryo back to his feet. "It's okay, Ryo. You're doing well. Let's try it again."
Ryo nodded, determination burning brighter in his chest. He reset his position and ran the course again, and then again, each time improving just a little bit. His movements became smoother, and though he was exhausted, he was driven by the desire to improve.
Hours passed, and Ryo was running on pure willpower. His body was screaming for rest, but he refused to give up. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, All Might be called for a break.
"Alright, Ryo, that's enough for the drills today," All Might said, his voice filled with pride. "You did great."
Ryo collapsed onto the ground, his body trembling with exhaustion. Every muscle ached, and his lungs burned with each breath. But despite the fatigue, there was a spark of satisfaction in his heart. He had made it through the drills.
But just as Ryo thought the training was over, All Might stood up and said, "Now, it's time for the spar."
"Wha..." Ryo responded out of breath.
Ryo's eyes widened in surprise. He was already exhausted, but the thought of sparring with his father filled him with a mix of excitement and nervousness. He slowly got to his feet, wiping the sweat from his brow, and assumed a fighting stance. His small fists were clenched tightly, and he tried to focus his energy on what was to come.
All Might stood across from him, a playful smile on his face. "Come at me, Ryo! Show me what you've got!"
With a determined yell, Ryo charged at All Might, his little legs moving as fast as they could. He aimed a punch at All Might's leg, but before he could even reach him, All Might moved with lightning speed, sweeping Ryo's legs out from under him. Ryo found himself on the ground again, staring up at the sky, completely dazed.
All Might's laughter boomed above him. "It'll take you years before you can land a hit on me, Ryo!" he said, his voice full of affection and amusement.
Ryo gritted his teeth and pushed himself back up. He wasn't going to give up that easily. He charged at All Might again, and again, each time trying a different approach, but All Might effortlessly dodged and deflected his attacks. It was like trying to hit a mountain with a feather.
Despite the repeated failures, Ryo's determination never wavered. His body ached, and his movements grew slower as fatigue set in, but he kept pushing himself, driven by the desire to improve.
All Might watched his son with a mixture of pride and tenderness. He knew this training was tough, especially for someone so young, but he also knew that this was how Ryo would grow stronger. He admired Ryo's tenacity, even as he gently swatted him aside during their sparring.
As the night wore on and the stars began to twinkle in the sky, All Might finally decided it was time to end the session. He looked down at Ryo, who was completely out of breath, his small body trembling with fatigue. Yet, there was a fire in Ryo's eyes—a stubborn refusal to give up, a determination that shone brightly even in the face of exhaustion.
"That's enough for today, Ryo," All Might said gently, kneeling beside his son. "You did great. I'm proud of you."
Ryo nodded weakly, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. Though he hadn't landed a single hit, he felt a sense of accomplishment. He knew he had a long way to go, but with his father by his side, he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
All Might smiled and ruffled Ryo's hair. "Let's get you something to eat, and then it's off to bed. Tomorrow, we'll do it all over again."
