Chapter Three: Unknown

I cringed the moment I opened my eyes, the sunlight greeted me. Who forgot to close those blinds? And why am I in my bed? I'm supposed to be at school. I tried my hardest to remember what happened.

The man. It was the first time I saw him but I felt a connection. A deep one. Why did I felt that alien feeling towards him? But how? Maybe I was just overwhelmed with my intake of my 'magical juice' as per that bully from the library or is it because of the throbbing headache I got from skipping my medicine.

But who is he?

I was about to get up when I felt my mom's presence. She was sitting on the rocking chair grand dad gifted me last Thanksgiving. I don't know why he gave me that. He never told me why.

"Darling, what happened yesterday?"

Yesterday? I was asleep for so many hours?! Is that even possible for me? Or is it because of that unknown pain I felt?

"All I can remember is that I saw someone. Then I felt that pain. It hurts, mom."

She stared at me intently and sat beside me. She sweetly brushed my hair and held my hand with the other one.

"Like something is burning inside you?" she casually asked.

I nodded as I remember that sensation around my heart. I'm not hallucinating. I'm sure of it.

"Are you happy with us?"

Oh, that's an out of the blue question. Since I lost all my memories, mom never made me feel like I doesn't belong. She treated me with care and love. Dad? He's strict but never fails to tell me how happy he is having this great family. And as to Martin, he's the best big brother anyone could ask for. So, who am I to complain?

"Mom, that will never be a question for me. This family is a blessing for me. I'm happy."

She stopped brushing my hair and met my gaze. "Even if you'll meet someone from your past?"

I looked at her puzzled. From my past? How will I know in the first place? I didn't even bother to try looking at it. I am Gabrielle Fox. That's all I care right now.

"Not even a chance, mom."

She smiled at me sadly. "When you felt that, it only meant you know that person. The person who gave you that sensation. I felt that too when I was in Los Angeles. But be careful, darling. You're Gabrielle Fox now."

So, I know that man?
