Day 1

Freshman. Ah yes. Fresh, vulnerable, gullible, collegiate bait.

Being the new kid on Meio University's campus was absolutely TERRIFYING. Trying to fit in with everyone else but at the same time being as foreign as possible (not to mention the awkward stares I got in the halls) is enough to drive one MAD!

I clutched my backpack close and pushed the brim of my Dodgers hat, adorned with my 💕her💕name, lower so that it covered my eyes a bit more. There was only one problem with that, I was blindly wandering around with no sense of direction and by the time I readjusted and looked up, *pumph* I bumped into a taller boy who was possibly a second year, causing him to drop his basketball.

"G-gomenasai." I quickly bowed and rushed over and picked up the ball, getting a satisfying feel of the multicolored leather and running my fingers throughout the grooves in between. The boy smiled at me and gestured me; almost as if he was saying, "Show me."

My new school uniform was pretty clean and dirtying it up before last period would be kinda upsetting since I've tried so hard to keep it spotless.

My English guide immediately showed up behind me as the hallways started to deteriorate in students due to everyone going to class.

Knowing me, I'd get a pass, since I've only been here for a day.

The guide places a hand on my shoulder and introduces me to the boy. Apparently his name was Daiki Tanaka, a Second Year Superstar here on the basketball team.

A top dog? Just who I've been searching for. Daiki reached out to shake my hand and I humbly accepted the handshake.

I toss him his ball back and as he walked away from me I called out, "OI, TANAKA!".

Everything in that moment went still, like the world stopped moving for a sec.

He turned his head, giving me his undivided attention.

"I'll see you at tryouts. I'll walk all OVER you. Sooner or later, I'll be the MVP of this school and you better believe I'll be the best you've EVER seen."

The most arrogant I've been in a while and I just got here. Now I'm picking a battle with this dude that I've seen on the school's website, TV and the newspaper.

Then, he spoke.

"Anata wa totemo omoshiroi kasƍ kaikyĆ«desu. Watashitachi no tatakai o tanoshiminishiteimasu."

Which Roughly Translates to

"Very funny kid! I like the confidence, I'll look forward to seeing your skills"

His voice was higher than I thought it'd be but then again, I kind of expected every guy here to sound like Madara from "Naruto" or any anime antagonist for that matter.

Tanaka smirked, spun the ball on his finger and went to class.

My guide led me to my classroom. So many uniforms, so many turned heads towards the door, waiting to see who the new student was. So many different hair colors, eye colors, SHOE COLORS.

I nervously scooted to the front of the class room where I had to introduce myself. I inhaled deeply and spoke

"Konichiwa! To mƍshimasu, D-DoryĆ«-desu. Watashi wa 17-saidesu. Minasama ni o ai dekiru koto o tanoshimini shite orimasu."

Meaning

"Hello! My name is Drew. I'm 17 years old and I look forward to meeting you all!"

The students welcomed me in sync with "Niyokoso ni Nipon!"

Meaning
.

"WELCOME TO JAPAN!!"

I bowed respectfully and looked for a seat. I glanced over the room for a second and caught a familiar glare with an open seat next to him. Tanaka-Senpai.

*(Senpai; A way to address someone older than you or in this case, a higher class than you)*

Of course. This was like Naruto and Sasuke all over again. I decided to brush him off and just sit there and try to focus, while my guide sat in the corner examining my every move.

***after class***

I was swarmed by my new classmates. They asked me about life in the states and how was the weather where I was from. They asked me what kind of books I read and they FLIPPED when I told them I read manga and watched TONS of anime.

They let me borrow a few of theirs so I'd have something to do when I got back to my dorm.

I can't believe how fast this was all happening, and it was only Day 1.
