Shikina was actually well known around the building.
Despite moving in only a few days prior, his volatile attitude and body language, paired with his angelic looks, made him almost instantly well liked and received among his fellow tenants.
Coincidence?
Not really.
Having spent a lot of his time observing human behavior, he learned to pick up on certain queues.
He found that he got along greatly with the elderly here.
Sharing the same interests, such as mahjong and sunbathing on sundays.
All of them were polite too, having never asked about why there were so many scars littering his body, either.
Leaving the steps to his building, he moved through the winding backstreets to go to school.
Having eaten the poptart without assistance from his hands, he started to speak under his breath, and said.
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck…"
However, in his rush to school, he abruptly halted.
Shikina was motionless, everywhere except his eyes.
The green in them were illuminated, with casting a light from beneath his hair.
Like shining a flashlight on a cat, under the cover of night.
Nostrils flared, it was possible to hear him sniffing the air from a few feet away.
"Oh…"
Both of his ears wriggled too.
"Oh..?"
As if his head was a swivel, his head twisted off in the direction of the residential district.
"I see now."
He grinned, when he felt absolutely certain that a basilisk was nearby.
"How long has it been."
After saying this to himself, his body twisted left and he leapt over a concrete wall.
Ravenous, he scaled countless walls and rooftops in the direction of the serpentine monster.
His bright greens were like tracer rounds, leaving a mark across the air, as he moved impossibly fast.
The Ikkamiya bloodline is the natural predators of the basilisks.
It would only make sense for a supernatural entity to be the pray of another supernatural entity.
Though, they had only awoken to this fact with their emergence, and the rest of the world would remain forever unaware of this.
Now, as he leapt through the air, Shikina looked to the ground.
Police barricades at every road.
Men, women and children were either turning to run or waiting in anticipation of the scaled monsters.
Using his ability, he used his extended time to come up to a solution to ending the basilisk and consuming it, outside of public knowledge.
"Is there a costume store nearby..?"
3 minutes passed.
The police stood at their armored carriers and steel barricades, as prepared as could be against petrification.
Ikkamiya now sprinted through the street, against the remaining stragglers escaping.
He was still wearing his school uniform.
The only difference was his mask.
It was bright red, with a long nose and mustache.
The face on it expressed a grimace.
A tengu mask.
Like a wolf chasing a rabbit, he was on all fours sprinting.
He was now the hybrid of primal fury and modern courtesy.
Under the mask, he panted.
His eyes were wide and unmoving.
