Chapter 5: A new husband!

The music, the chatter and the noise were drowned out by the thud inside her chest. Christian's words were more like a threat to her own safety than an offer.

This was not ever part of the plan. She blinked slowly to ascertain that this was real. It was too late to back down since the spotlight of the party was now on them.

Alpha christian finally owing up to love someone was a big shot for the media. Cameras kept clicking as the engagement ring stood In Front of Mercedes.

"I Alpha christian blackwood. Accept you as my fated mate" He gently placed the diamond engagement ring on her fingers.

She dare not reject The most powerful Alpha ever living. . Her career was already crumbling and that alone could take her back to being an Omega shifter that no one cared about. That aside, her whole pack's life depended on the decision she made.

Mercedes had never believed she was so brave- actually accepting to marry a man she only knew his name!

But the deed has being done. Learning that he was an Alpha, a satisfying smile fell on her face. At Least that was better than the man that broke her heart.

Mercedes excused herself and went into the washroom, just as she was about to dry her hand after washing, Stephanie entered with a scornful hatred across her face.

"No way were you cheating on Trevor"

"Does that bother you so much or you are just jealous that your stolen mate is nothing compared to mine?"

Stephanie's expression turned sore. " You probably haven't scrolled through my insta but I'm glad to inform you myself, you are to substitute me for a shoot "

"Jokes on you Steph! Replacement models are much in the pack, you can't even manage to hire your superior as..."

She got a call from Trevor before she could finish her statement..

"Mercedes. We will talk about tonight later but now I want you to rush over to the company and take the shoot for Stephanie. She's already stressed up from your acting today. Everyone is. I wonder how you managed to coarse my uncle to do such stupid things with you"

"She could cancel and do it some other time" Mercedes muttered and stared disgustingly at Stephanie who winked in return.

"No! The weather is perfect for the shoot. And Steph already told the media her best friend will be helping her out since she's at her honeymoon. Besides being your husband, I am also your boss so you have to accord me some respect.."

"Ex-husband. I will send the divorce paper across to you very early tomorrow so don't bother dreaming of me returning to you. "

Trevor was so shameless and in the past he had constantly used Mercedes for his benefits. Her father owns a good number of shares at the company which he sweet talked her to transfer to him to make him the CEO.

"Are you coming or not?" He asked

As it seems she wasn't going to continue playing blind to their schemes.

Mercedes stayed calm and nodded. ,"Okay I will head to the company now"

She hung up.

Stephanie laughed sarcastically like her mission had succeeded little did she know that her own troubles were about to begin.

When Mercedes left the washroom. Alpha christian offered to drive her home but along the way she complained bitterly of how she's being used and cheated on by her ex-husband.

"Is he even your mate?" Christian scoffed.

"Sadly yes. He hasn't marked me yet though but we got married. Isn't that enough? I can't afford to be pregnant. It would ruin my entire career and we agreed that I resign after our third anniversary. I was supposed to announce it at my speech earlier "

"The one you messed up ? You should learn to separate personal life from work. At Least now as my Luna "

Mercedes' eyes widened. She had almost forgotten her other problem.

"Could you do me a favor, christian?" She asked.

"Anything! Just mention their names I will get them exiled or even killed"

"Sorry. I don't mean that kind of favor. They want me to substitute Stephanie a B- Class model on a shot tonight "

"Tonight? It's almost 2:am "

"Trevor said it's the perfect weather for the shoot and Stephanie already made a post that I will be helping her out since she's out of the country for her honeymoon.

"That's bad. So what do you want me to do? "

"Release our engagement video to the whole pack in America. I'm sure Stephanie's face showed there . Pay the best news channels. I mean I will pay the best News channels just to have them caption it well. "
