CHAPTER ONE *AFRICA*

Annah a beautiful south African girl in the Zulu land lived with her mother and father .though poor ,she always had a dream of her own. dream of having a Korean husband .

"Annah .please bring me those rice cakes"her mother asked ." okay mother"she replied packing the rice cakes in the basket.

"Today shall we get alot of sales.mother?"she asked her mother as they left the house to head for the market."not sure dear.but am pretty sure that we shall earn some little money for today's night meal"she replied. Annah just smiled as they continued their way passing many well built houses.with her mother carrying her stool.

*THE MARKET *

Everyone was doing business and truly the market was busy that moment."put the basket here"she said.as she placed her stool in position."can I be of help mother"Annah asked."not in the market daughter. At home we lack water , go fetch the jerrycans ,you can come back later "she said. "But-" she got interrupted by someone."Are you heading for the well"the girl asked."yes ,You want to join?"Annah asked"sure!"she replied.

Lisa Amahle was the daughter of the third richest man in the zulu village.so far away from the main cities and towns and as well not known that much.her family was rich but she was Annah's best friend .since they met at one of the parties her father when they were still young.

*AT THE WELL*

"You haven't yet told me about your father .Annah"Lisa asked they fetched water."umm,he is fine and catering for us"she lied."I know your lying to me Annah,you know I can help you out since my father has alot of connection " Lisa added."No,its fine .I am happy with my family."she replied faking the smile."As a matter of fact , I happy that you decided to come with me here today because this area is my favourite with the flowers all around. I feel like singing .." Annah ran in the flower garden.the sun was shinning so bright that the place looked so beautiful. "Hey Annah!, wait for me " Lisa shouted as she followed.

The whole time they sang,played around and splashed on themselves water.Annah had happy time with Lisa.

"it's time to head back home."Lisa said."No offense ,I will first drop you off"Annah replied."hopefully my Father doesn't find out that I was here today"lisa said. "your safe.he wont find out and eventhough he finds out he will be happy since his daughter is hardworking"Annah added."How?"Lisa asked."Fetching water and carrying it back home without the help of the horses."she replied. " very bright ,you are Annah."

"well,That's what friends are for"she replied.Annah then headed back to the market before reaching home with the water she had fetched.

*MARKET*

"Mother, am heading back home ,what's for supper?"Annah asked her mother."well,There is cassava in the store, you will cook Fufu and buy green vegetables?"her mother said giving her the money."No uphutu today mother?"she asked."tomorrow may be dear,you know I have t save up for you requirements for school"she replied."okay I have no problem with it.i will live now"she added."I will finish up with these remaining rice cakes and I will find you home"her mother said."I am fine with it"she replied and left for home

*ANNAH'S HOME*

According to the appearance of their house,they were really poor but it was somehow suitable for settlement.it didn't have fancy luxuries nor electricity.they used lamps and charcoal stoves to cook and charcoal flat irons.

Annah placed the Jerry cans in the corner of the house and started doing the house chores.

finally cooking the night meal.At the moment,she didn't know where her father was.

*EVENING*

Annah's mother .Mary Thabisa Kamura.she was a hardworking woman who always did her best to cater for her daughter despite her husband's assistance.Mary was married off at the age of sixteen due to financial issues at her parent's home.

This forced her to quit school and be a house wife.Though she faced alot of challenges in her marriage ...

"welcome back mother!"she said take the basket and stool from her hands."Thank you my daughter.i see you have organised our home.good work dear"she commented. "Thanks mother"Annah replied."I will first rest ,I am really tired"she added."its okay".

Later on,they sat and had their meal.the lamp was available to give them light. "your father is not yet back ,right?"Mary asked her daughter as they ate.Annah first sighed and said"Not yet,I think he still getting drunk"she replied in a sarcastic tone.Mary knowing where this conversation would transform she changed the topic."since you will be heading for school very soon ,I got you some money to buy your requirements and pay your school fees."she said."thank you so much mother,now I will go in for second term .good thing am finalizing my last year in secondary " Annah replied."I promised my self to make my children go to school.even though I didn't finish school.i will not let you stop half way of your studies"Mary assured her daughter.Annah felt so proud to have a mother like her who cared alot.

"Finish up your food and prepare for bed"Mary said.Annah smiled and proceeded with her meal.
