Chapter 13

Matt Murdock looked around the room at the bodies that lay on the ground,noticing a figure he had seen before,his unique sense couldnever be wrong as he doesn't remember faces but the very being of someone else's,his sonar like senses leave no room for doubts as he picks up the man with a bleeding head and puts him on the sofa

The Russian goons could only stay on the ground as Matt helps the man wake up

"Ugg! Man,not again" Matt hears the man say,

'What does he mean again? Has this been happening more then once,these Dan bastards' Matt thinks to himself as the man ribs the back of his head with some water he got from the bottle on the table

"Are you the one that helped me just now,thanks for the help man" Tom says genuinely as he pushes his hands forward for a shake,though Matt doesn't step out of the dark,acting like a well known Batman

"Are they here often?" Matt asks as he gestures towards the Russians on the ground

"Yeah, they were here the previous week as well,to extort the poor-Oh no!" To who was talking calmly suddenly stands up in shock,his voice loud enough to hurt Matts ears as he jumps over the table and grabs the leader by the neck and starts punching him in the face

"Tell me where Mary is? you disgusting bastard!" Tom yells with anger,his blodied face further horrifying the Russian as he stutters

"I-I don't have him,I swear" The Russian raises his hands in surrender as he says so

Though Tom didnt believe him one bite and pulled his fist back to punch,but his arms were caught in a vice like grim

"Calm down"

"let me go" Tom says in a heavy tone,not lurking how Matt acted,like the life of a criminal was much more important than that of a innocent girl

"I get that you are mad,let me help you,maybe we can find her-" Matt stopped abruptly as he looked at the door as a girl walked in hurriedly,her face pale with fright as she watched the usually kind face of her teacher and tenant bloodied with a mad expression that befitted a demon

"Sir!" She ran over hurriedly as she pushed aside Matt,Tom also let go of the Russian goon once he noticed the girl was safe

"thank god you are alright Mary! I thought they had kidnapped you or something" Tom said kindly as he hugged the girl,he was worried about her ,she wasn't just someone he knew ,but he was also responsible for her as a teacher.

Tom mentally swiped away the notification as he pulled up his phone and called the cops,

"Yes, I want to report a break-in, Yes please come fast,the address is XXXX of Hell's Kitchen" Tom hung up the call

Noticing the masked man who was probably Matt Murdock slipping away,Tom reached out,knowing that the resident hero had probably helped him out today

"Thanks for the help,if it weren't for you,I would have died by now" Tom expressed his gratitude,"Feel free to barge in whenever you feel like you are going to die,as I will help you like you helped me" Tom ended

Matt stared at Tom for a moment,again feeling that sense of power from the guy,before he nodded and left the place after hearing the police sirens

Tom on the other hand guided Mary outside as the Russians also tried to escape but could only kneel down as they hatefully looked at Tom and Mary

Tom gave his statement along with Mary,after a. Few more questions,he was let go along with Mary

Mary was rather brave and wasn't as shaken by what happened,though she did show her grief at the sight of lost furnitute,Tom accompanied her for dinner down the restaurant still in case she was just trying to hide her feelings

Once he was sure she was fine in all manners,Tom closed the door of his apartment,bidding the young girl goodbye,even going as far as letting her skip school for getting new furniture

Once Tom was alone in the room,he couldn't help but shout in a hushed voice

"shit! I should have known this would have happened, how could my life ever have been simple,how could I ever hope that a single day can go by where bad things don't happen around me" Tom said in anger as clecnched his fists

After a while he finally calmed down as he took out the gun from the pot once again,the night was still young and god knew he needed to make sure the Russians don't go after his student ever again

Although he remembered it took Matt some time to find the Russians and other gangs to fight them,this body was a local,and a bad one that did drugs and whatnot at that,so it wasn't hard to believe that he knew of a few spots

"Though using the gun is only the last resort in case I get trapped badly as I might get traced" Tom thought as he looked at the gun,before he sighed in frustration and put it back

"System! I want to roll Two uncommon Gacha"
