Chapter 119: Trapped Frost Titan
"Okay?"
Steve froze momentarily before suddenly jumping up and grabbing Nick Fury by the shoulder.
"Bucky? You know Bucky? Tell me, how is he? Where is he?"
Captain America's deeds have been praised for many years, and the complex relationship between him and Bucky has been recounted repeatedly. Sometimes, their story is even more intriguing than Captain America's own.
Nick Fury and Stark initially found it hard to believe, but now...
Nick Fury calmly pushed Steve's hand away: "I don't know his current whereabouts, but he certainly didn't die under the mountain of snow as recorded. However, no one knows his current location or identity."
He glanced at Stark and continued, "Twenty years ago, he attempted to assassinate Howard. Although he failed for some reason, there has been no news of him since. Perhaps your old friend is no longer on our side."
"What? You're not lying to me?" Steve couldn't believe it.
Nick Fury looked at him solemnly and said, "Actually, S.H.I.E.L.D. has some information about him. Once this situation is resolved, I can take you to look it up."
"That's it," Steve nodded helplessly, looking at Stark. "Sorry."
---
A blast of icy energy enveloped Thor, and the cold slowly began to freeze him.
"Son of Odin, do you believe that if you die here, Odin will regret sending you into exile? Heh heh heh..."
Lauf held the Casket of Ancient Winters and smiled grimly, letting out a sickly laugh.
"No, because I will annihilate the Frost Gaint here!"
---
Blazing flames erupted from Thor, instantly dispelling the power of the Casket of Ancient Winters.
The Phoenix Force manifested as a towering phoenix, reducing countless Frost Titans to ashes with its fiery wings.
"Impossible! You're actually resisting the Casket of Ancient Winters?"
Lauf was terrified, shouting as the Phoenix Force bore down on him. He hurriedly activated the Casket of Ancient Winters.
The energies of ice and fire collided with devastating force.
"Boom..."
A violent explosion shook Greenland, sending shockwaves across the continent. Nearly half of North America witnessed this dramatic scene.
Some scientific organizations nearly believed that a catastrophic explosion had been triggered, and they hurriedly prepared for the worst.
If Lauf hadn't directed the energy upwards, the destruction caused by this single attack could have killed tens of thousands of Frost Titans.
Even so, no Frost Titans within dozens of kilometers survived.
The light of the Casket of Ancient Winters dimmed, and the Phoenix Force on Thor slowly dissipated.
"You are truly powerful," Laufey said, gasping. "Such power can actually overpower the Casket of Ancient Winters, even Odin couldn't achieve this. But it's over now!"
Exhausted from the confrontation, both Thor and Lauf were drained, and a large number of Frost Gaint were rapidly approaching.
"Fool!"
Thor snapped his fingers, twirled Mjölnir, and leaped into the air.
"Foolish, I can fly!"
Laufey:
The Frost Gaint King Laufey decided to abandon his pursuit of Thor. After all, the number of his slain tribesmen was overwhelming.
Laufey even mocked: "The weak are not worthy of survival, and the offspring of the Odin family are weeding out the weak for the Frost Gaint!"
Such an attack that destroys thousands of troops in one blow is not something that can be sustained indefinitely. They still have enough time to scour the entire world.
A painful reality for the Frost Gaint is that they have no ships!
This race relies solely on brute force and technology, with transportation done by walking, communication through roaring, and law enforcement through sheer force...
Before they could react, S.H.I.E.L.D. deployed a large amount of energy to temporarily evacuate the island's residents, including their vehicles.
Greenland had become a no-man's land. With the Casket of Ancient Winters still operational, the Frost Gaints could easily freeze vast areas of the ocean, making it feel like walking on solid ground.
Now that the Casket of Ancient Winters was temporarily deactivated, they could only rely on their own ice magic to create ice bridges...
But these bridges were no match for Thor's dismantling. After all, Mjölnir could easily trigger a tsunami.
The Phoenix Force was recovering, but the power of thunder remained!
Unless Laufey intervenes personally, there is little hope. The problem is, he is currently blocked by Thor.
Lauf had considered sending the large army to swim across the water, only to see Thor performing a spectacular lightning attack on the Frost Titans, creating a dramatic scene of Titans thrashing in the water, which would have made for some impressive footage...
"What a waste!"
In Asgard, Loki cursed under his breath.
The Casket of Ancient Winters had been given to Laufey by Loki, and he was well aware of its capabilities. It was supposed to monitor the surrounding situation like a surveillance device.
Since the Earth was hidden by the Ancient One's magic, conventional means could no longer detect it...
Loki had hoped that the Frost Titans would at least cause some trouble for Thor when they arrived on Earth. After all, they were a race that could fight the Asgardian army to the death. He hadn't expected them to be so ineffective.
What troubled Loki even more was Thor's growing strength, which posed a greater threat to his own ambitions.
Loki had planned to let the Frost Titans cause some chaos and then seize the opportunity to benefit from it, taking credit for the destruction of Jotunheim to impress Odin.
But now it seemed that these Frost Titans were inept, and the Casket of Ancient Winters had almost been rendered useless.
Loki's expression was dark and uncertain as he pondered his next move.
