Chapter 28

They arrived at the company and Kelvin told Claire to get going first. nodding her head , Claire got down from the car and entered inside. she greeted some people who were her talk mates during her time there .

      " Ew Claire ...," her former nosey but sweet neighbor squeaked behind her ," I see the CEO dropped you "

   Claire coughed and pursed her lips at her former neighbor.

     " it's nothing ." and she left .

    Claire went to her office and after preparing coffee for the boss ,see settle down for her work .

      Many hours had passed and because of a grumbling tommy made Claire realized it's lunch time . still thinking of what to eat this afternoon, the double glass door opened revealing a smiling Linda walking in .

     "urghh.. what does she want now ." Claire felt her already lightened mood dampened.

     " Hi ," Linda smiled at Claire as she approach her ."I guess it would be your lunch time so I dropped to surprise you with a treat." she said handing her a bag .

    " I just order something since I don't really know what you like so ...enjoy ." she gave her a small pat on the shoulders.

   Claire stared wide eyes at the bag of food containing four different types of dishes .she looked up at Linda who gave her an encouraging smile before opening the door behind .

   Meanwhile,Kevin was actually getting ready for lunch . he was still wondering if Claire had anything to eat when the door of his office opened. thinking it was her ,he turned around swiftly.

    " What the hell are you here for ?" he questioned already pissed with the intruder .

  Linda scowl at him and avoided his question as she eyed him , "Are you going out ?"

     " yes ." Kelvin barked out.

    " great ," Linda smiled and lightly clapped her hands ," then we shall go together."

    Kelvin didn't reply her as he picked up his car keys and storm out of the office . Linda also followed him and when she passed by Claire's cubicle,she waved at her .

     " Kelvin wait ." Linda yelled as she ran to Kelvin who was now getting close to his car .

    " Kelvin ..." she stopped him from opening the car door by putting her hand on him and looking up at his with a sad puppy eyes .

    " I'm sorry if i made you mad . but Kel ,you've been a lot grumpy and easily irritated with me lately. did I do something wrong ? ," she whispered in a small voice ," you can tell me ."

    The frustrated Kelvin raked his hands through his dark locks as he exhaled sharply. God why do I feel this way . he asked himself.

   " Lin ," he called in the most gentle voice he could muster," I'm pissed off because you keep coming when I'm always busy and also I've told you to always call before coming but you just keep otherwise." he sighed like an old man who was tired from scolding his already grown grandson .

    Blinking rapidly, Linda soften her face as she hugged him tightly and murmured, " I'm sorry , won't repeat again ."

    The both entered the car and head towards the baker's choice,one of the most popular and though not expensive but classic Western setting restaurant to have lunch .

       Linda kept taunting Kelvin playfully every now and then as they laugh and eat . even though he was laughing happily  outward , it still sounds hallow and empty in his ear . Kelvin didn't know why but he kept having this bitter feelings deep inside him .pushing every negative thought away , he drown himself in the event of the moment .

  Maybe because I've not had fun or hang out for a long time now . Kelvin thought to himself as he smiled thinly in response to what Linda said .

    Back in the office, Claire stared unmoving at the double door after the silhouette of Kelvin and Linda left . whatever excitement that has been bubbling in her deflated at the sight of them leaving the office together. she felt a fool thinking that Kelvin was already caring for her not knowing it was just a - gosh !, what am I thinking. Claire tugged agressively on her hair .  the fact that he still go out with that lady made Claire's skin to crawl .

    Later she calmed down and grudgingly started jabbing the food that Linda brought for her as if to say she was poking Linda with her fork through the food.
