I rushed upstairs to find Roxanne, but she wasn't in the living room.
"Roxanne!" I yelled, but there was no answer. My eyes glanced at the staircase leading the second floor. "Kine!"
Even Kine didn't respond. Were they alright?
Panic set in as silence met my calls. The house seemed to swallow the sound, leaving an eerie quiet in its wake.
"Roxanne! Kine!" I called again, my voice echoing through the empty corridors.
I moved swiftly, checking each room for Roxanne, but found no sign of her. The tension twisted in my gut. Had something happened to her? Kine could at least fight. I had no clue how good of a fighter Roxanne was.
I approached the dining hall, the grand double doors slightly ajar. A sliver of light spilled out onto the darkened hall. I pushed the doors open, and the sight that greeted me made my blood run cold.
