Last-minute Wedding Preparations

"Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? Why are you so silent? Is your signal bad?" Axel spoke through his cell phone when Summer called him. I still hadn't realized and continued to stay silent, listening to how seductive the voice of the man on the phone was. I felt like I was losing my mind. Was there something wrong with me? Was this the side effect of not dating for too long?

"HELLO!!!" Axel said a bit forcefully. I finally snapped out of it after hearing the loud sound that pierced my ears. Then I started talking. I told Axel that I wanted to meet him. Axel sounded a bit surprised that I asked to meet him first. He immediately refused, claiming he was too busy and had no free time at all.

Axel was afraid that Summer might change her mind about marriage. He didn't want to put himself through a tough time, so he avoided it. Axel was indeed busy preparing for his wedding. It was easy to arrange a meeting, but unfortunately, he didn't allow Summer to meet him before the wedding.

I felt disappointed with Axel's attitude. Whether, I was happy or not, I hoped there wouldn't be a wedding. What annoyed me a little was my mother. I don't know why she seemed so busy. I don't know what she was preparing. Everything, was already arranged by Axel. and we just had to accept it.

Sometimes, I was puzzled. How come? Because it seemed strange to me if someone prepared a wedding event in just one week. I thought it was impossible to get impressive or extraordinary results in such a short time. I called it a flash wedding preparation. And I thought this rarely happened. What I heard from my married colleagues They needed months, even years, to prepare for a wedding reception according to their wishes. I started to doubt Axel even more.

Shortly after, a courier came to my office. He brought a package, and I didn't know what was inside. The courier handed it to me and asked me to sign the receipt. After signing it, I immediately opened the package. It turned out to contain a stack of wedding invitation cards, I didn't know how many at that time, and they seemed quite thick. I was surprised.

"Huh? Invitation cards? Is this my wedding invitation?" I said while opening one of them. It was true. My name and Axel's name were written inside. I didn't react at all. My heart was beating quite fast. "Ho-How could he make such beautiful wedding invitation cards in such a short time?" I said, looking at the invitation card in my hand, teary-eyed.

I never expected that I would get married. Then, one of my colleagues entered my office and saw the stack of invitation cards. She approached me and looked at them. How surprised she was to see that those invitation cards were mine. She offered to distribute them to other colleagues. I couldn't say anything and just nodded. The invitations were Already distributed, and I had no choice but to go through with it.

When I got home, the atmosphere was quite tense and gloomy. 

I saw my brother and my parents sitting in the living room. Judging from my brother's expression, something had happened, like there had been an extraordinary commotion before. My father tried to smile to welcome me.

"What's going on? What are you talking about?" I asked straight to the point. "Nothing, Dear, You should rest," My father answered, seemingly hiding something. I thought they were arguing about my marriage. When I was about to go to My room, my brother suddenly called me. I turned and answered. Earlier, I saw my mother signaling to me that I didn't need to approach my brother, but it seemed the situation would get more Serious if I ignored my brother's call.

"Come here for a moment," Hakim called to me. I walked back to the living room. "What's up?" I asked as if I didn't know anything. "Are you going to get married?" Hakim asked. "Uh-um-that-" I stuttered. "Enough, you don't need to interfere, Hakim. Your sister is an adult. Let her choose her path," my mother snapped, answering Hakim's question. "I told you he's not a good man for Summer! Is Mom still going to force her?" Hakim said firmly and with a rising tone. "Enough, Hakim," my father said, trying to calm Hakim down.

It turned out my guess was Right. They are arguing about my marriage. And Hakim strongly opposed it. No wonder he previously tried to introduce me to his friend. I tried to take a deep breath and gather my courage.

"Enough, why are you arguing? This is my life! so I know what's right and what's wrong?" I said confidently and loudly. "What did you say? Know? You don't even know what kind of man you're dating? Arrogant, cocky, I even doubt he likes you," Hakim retorted. "You introduced me to a disrespectful man who always mocks me. Is your choice any better?" I added.

Hakim fell silent upon hearing what I said about his friend Varel, whom he previously tried to set me up with. The atmosphere became Silent for a moment. Hakim then left with a gloomy and angry face. Meanwhile, my parents looked worried about the current situation. That's why my mother never wanted to interfere, let alone involve my sister in such matters, as my sister had a Very Strong and rebellious character.
