Determination

Kage San had found Chanaka when he was up to no good. He was a reckless troublemaker. Fighting people and breaking into their homes, constantly in trouble with the authorities. But he nonetheless, he took him in because he showed immense potential. Not in strength and technique, which he was of course good at. But a true spirit to stand up to anyone. He was not scared, he was never afraid of anyone or anything. A warrior in every sense of the word. But he needed to be sharpened and shown the right path, thought Kage San. He needs to find out who the wrongdoers are , who the oppressors are and stand before them.

Kage San watched him kick the sandbar a million times and he never showed any sign of tiredness. The rain thundered down again. Chanaka, Kage San called him inside to the house. Master! said Chanaka and stood before the master. He gave him a staff. Your strength in the legs have increased considerably but your hand strenght and coordination needs a lot of improvement. Kage San threw him a staff. Now go and practice this, he said. Chanaka showed tiredness for a second. The luxury of the home had changed his mind. Chanaka, said Kage San. You must carry on even when you cannot, he said. Even when you are tired, broken and hurt, you must carry on, he said to him. Now go! He said. Chanaka walked outside to lightning and thunder. He stood there in the middle of the training ground and practised hard, as Kage San watched him from the balcony.
