Making friends

I crossed my arms to brace myself for the impact as I collided with the wall.

"Uff"

A crack resounded from behind me and I fell down, leaving a wall with a dent in the shape of mine.

"GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

"I don't know what that means….but the answer is no." I replied to the angry beast and shot the webs at his face to blind him temporarily.

With the few extra seconds, I cocked my elbows back and delivered a solid punch at his solar plexus.

*Boom!*

The impact sent visible waves coursing through his skin and made his feet go a few inches above ground before he took off the web.

"Too late." I said with the brightest smile I could muster before launching him backwards using a compressed air canon.

"Lesson time, what happens when there's too much moisture in the air?"

I dodged the large hands trying to grab me and elbowed his face before back flipping to avoid his punch.

"Breathing becomes a huge problem. Your lungs won't get enough air in and your body's metabolism will decrease."

I stopped his fist with an equally powerful kick, sending light tremors around us. The jets stationed nearby had most of their windows cracked at this point.

"That is true for you too. Your metabolism is way higher than a human's, imagine the problems you'd have to face…"

"Grraaahk!"

His roar stopped midway due to the choke rearing its head. The small grunts of displeasure was confusing for him, but he tried to hold on.

"You're strong, hulk. Really strong, it seems your strength increases with rage, but that doesn't make you unbeatable."

The beast wanted to lash out but it's body jerked uncontrollably as it tried to scratch the itch inside its throat.

"Vision really is a useful thing…"

However, the hulk was never a being of reason. It fought on instinct. And so it jumped out of the Hellicarrier.

…Or at least tried to.

*Ssssssssssss*

A sticky strand of web clung to his back, stopping his descent.

Now with the air humidity back to normal, the hulk was quickly regaining his full strength.

But it was not instantaneous…

Currently the Hulk was weaker than me.

"Come back here." I pulled the web and brought him back, before delivering another punch at his face.

The power unrestrained in the face of a potentially dangerous enemy, sent him crashing down through the floor.

Dust and grime rose up around the crash, smoking my view.

…But I never needed assistance.

"I wonder how far I am from reaching your speed veritas?"

I felt a heating sensation coursing down my brain as hundreds of calculations underwent in the span of a few seconds.

The position and trajectory of the dust particles, their velocity, their erratic change in path…

The seemingly endless calculations came to a halt as I omitted the last variables.

*Swoosh*

I ducked to dodged a swinging fist from my left before using his arm as platform to stand on with my arms.

My leg hoisted up, came down at a high speed, leaving a blur before landing on the hulk's head.

"I have come to help you, mortal! Let us fight side by side and defeat the beast so that our friend may return!"

A boisterous voice came from behind Hulk, revealing Thor standing with his hammer fully charged.

It even caught the attention of Hulk who was starting to get even more annoyed.

"Shouldn't you be checking on Loki? I'm sure he's behind this. Get him before he escapes."

He flinched before widening his eyes, as if coming to a revelation

"I WILL BE BACK!" The god of thunder ran back the way he came.

*Grunt*

"Hmm you're calm now?"

"Grah…"

"Well it's good that you're not breaking stuff now. Seriously, the ship is already in a bad shape. If you had rampaged more, everyone could've died."

His breathing lowered and his shoulders visibly drooped, as if he was regretting his actions, but the frown on his face still remained.

"Hey hulk, I need a favor."

The beast….no the….friend?

The new friend of mine lifted his head up to meet my eyes.

"It may not look like it, but I'm pretty injured right now. So please get my body back into the ship over there. Veritas will guide you."

I said before losing my balance and closing my eyes.

"Ughh…what happened?" I sat up from the med bay and clutched my head to relieve the headache.

[Your body is in good shape right now, except for the two broken ribs, one fractured collarbone, torn ligaments, torn eardrums you have no other problems.]

"…How is that a good condition?"

[It is better than getting your organs being regrown after getting pulled out]

"That…never happened?"

[You were close to experiencing that]

"Well, I guess you can say that…but why am I getting a headache?"

[Your new friend smacked your head so that you'd wake up]

I looked up in shock to finally notice the Hulk standing behind me with the usual frown on his face.

"…Thank you."

"Hulk. Good." Hulk finally spoke for the first time which was a shock to me.

"I didn't know you could talk….my name's Andrew Rivers. You can call me Andrew."

"RIVERS!" The loud yell could not be heard from the outside, but that is not the case for someone inside, aka me.

"My ears are still healing, so please talk quietly."

I didn't hear a yes but I took the silence as one.

"Let's eat something before we talk, the nanobots already rearranged themselves to suit you size, so you should put on some of these clothes."

An android walked in and presented a fresh outfit along with comfortable shoes, before leaving us.

"I'm grateful for what you did… and I am not petty, so let's start off again. I'm Andrew Rivers, and I'd like to be you friend."

I extended my hand to the green man for the first time in a non-aggressive way.
