"What is this little Pokémon? Why haven't I seen it before?"
"I have this Pokémon, and it helped me beat the first Gym!"
"Mankey? It looks like a fighting type based on its stance!"
"Wait, there's a path to the upper left of Viridian City? How did I not know that?"
"I remember that path. It leads to the Champions League, but the guard told me to leave."
The livestream audience was buzzing with excitement as Mankey appeared on screen. Some viewers had no idea that Route 22, the path to the Champions League, existed on the left side of Viridian City. Their eyes lit up as Indra explored this route.
Many had ventured this way but never encountered a Mankey, returning empty-handed. Indra's explanation made everything clear.
"In 'Pokemon,' there's a probability for certain Pokémon to appear," Indra said while capturing Mankey. "For example, Rattata appears frequently. Mankey, on the other hand, has a low appearance rate and specific refresh locations."
After successfully catching Mankey, Indra opened the Pokémon Pokédex and explained its proper usage. The Pokédex not only tracks basic stats and voices but also records the spawning locations of each Pokémon.
"Follow the Pokédex instructions, find these locations, and be patient. You'll encounter them eventually."
With Mankey in hand, Indra prepared for the first Rock Gym.
"So the Pokédex has this function too?"
"GC is like a walking textbook. Watching this livestream feels enlightening!"
"But what about the second Gym? Fighting and fire types can't beat a Water-type Gym!"
Understanding the importance of type advantages, viewers worried about the upcoming Water-type Gym. Indra's lineup included Fire-type Charmander and Fighting-type Mankey, both disadvantaged against Water types.
"Don't worry about the second Gym. We can head to the Viridian Forest," Indra reassured the audience, entering the forest and capturing a Pikachu. This electric mouse would be crucial for the Water-type Gym. After leveling up Pikachu and evolving Charmander to Charmeleon, Indra easily defeated the Rock Gym with Mankey.
The process was smooth and engaging, captivating the livestream audience. Indra continued to Mt. Moon, addressing a common complaint.
"Many players have said they can't navigate Mt. Moon. Even those who do think it's luck-based," Indra explained while progressing through Mt. Moon. "It's not about luck. Mt. Moon introduces the villain team, Team Rocket."
Mt. Moon isn't a maze. Players often got lost because they followed ladder signs incorrectly, trapping themselves. Indra skillfully navigated the area, defeating NPCs and confronting Team Rocket, explaining the plot as he went.
"So Team Rocket is the villain team?"
"Is there more to Team Rocket? I thought it was a one-off encounter!"
"Does 'Pokemon' have a storyline? And this game is only 5.8MB?"
"Selling this for $9 is a steal considering its content!"
After leaving Mt. Moon, Indra defeated a five-member group and battled his rival Gary, completing the story of rescuing Bill and earning a ticket. With a strong Pikachu ready, he entered the second Gym.
"Watch how Pikachu shines in this Gym," Indra said, seemingly targeting someone.
"Who is GC addressing?"
"Little Diana: Guys, why are you looking at me!"
"Hahaha!!"
"Don't look, Diana. You can't learn it~"
Despite the game's recent release, many memorable moments had already emerged, often thanks to Diana's classic lines like "Next time, I won't die," and her infamous Pikachu vs. Rock Gym Leader attempt.
"I didn't mean to mess up!" Diana defended herself on her stream. "I didn't understand type advantages back then!"
Meanwhile, on Indra's stream, Pikachu dominated the Water Gym Leader's Staryu and Starmie, showcasing the effectiveness of type advantages. Indra then proceeded to Vermilion City, obtained a bicycle coupon, and returned to Cerulean City to exchange it.
"Many players mentioned a tree blocking the path to the third Gym. It's not a bug; it requires the TM Cut," Indra explained. "This is another feature of 'Pokemon': Technical Machines (TMs)."
Even in its first generation, 'Pokemon' set the bar high with features like TMs. To cut down the tree blocking the third Gym, players needed the TM Cut.
"Where do we get the TM Cut?"
"I'm stuck in Vermilion City because of this!" players in the livestream commented.
"As I said, 'Pokemon' has a storyline," Indra reminded them, guiding his character to a boat in Vermilion City. "We got a boat ticket from rescuing Bill. With this ticket, we can board the ship and find the TM Cut there!"
