Chapter 6 - Chakra Affinity

After the hokage left, the elders left as well, one by one. Kaemon summoned the children to his courtyard, had them standing shoulder to shoulder, as if a general inspecting his soilders.

After a brief glance-over, he nodded in satisfaction and spoke lightly,

"Now that you are all qualified shinobis and kunoichis, next is the time to check your chakra affinities. We, hattoris all have shadow dominant chakra affinity, as you must already know. Meaning we are much more attuned with yin chakra naturally than any other clans in existence." Pride radiated his face, as he glorified his clan's heritage. He was satisfied to see the children puffing up their chests with pride as well.

"However, Yin, as well as Yang, cannot be measured in chakra papers. As they are not present in nature, hence not natural elements. Only humans and other intelligent beasts and summoning creatures possess yin and yang attribute chakra affinity."

Kaemon took a light breath and continued,

"Humans, along with other intelligent creatures are amalgamation of all 7 attribute chakra affinities. Your bodies have Fire(heat), Earth(minerals), Water(blood and fluid contents), Air(breathing apparatus), Lightening(nerve synapses), Yin(consciousness) and finally Yang(life force). Without any one of the elements, you would be a different creature altogether."

"As a clan specializing in Shadow element, we are adept at yin attribute. Meaning we have the best and purest spiritual energy than any other base level humans. Today you are going to test and start training on your secondary chakra affinity." With that, he distributed 6 chakra papers, each getting one.

The children all permeated the light brown paper with their chakra, each getting a different reaction. Tsuki jumped up in exhilaration, as she saw her paper dissipating in smoke, she had fire chakra attribute as her affinity. She knew the combination of fire and yin resulted in the most violent fire there is in existence, Amaterasu.

Beside her, Souji's paper crunched up, indicating his lightning affinity, the resulting Kekkei genkai would be Raijin- the black lightning, same as their clan leader. His pride was already obvious the way he turned his face 45° towards the sky and the wild, glassgow grin distorting his face.

"Pervert", Tsuki poked from his side.

"Nani (what did you say) ?" The two started their mini-wrestle.

Daisuke's paper got soaked, Shin got his paper crunched as well and Kanae's paper was split into two. Indicating water, lightning and wind affinities respectively. Which coincidentally matched their personalities well. Everyone's gaze turned to Shinjo already expecting lightning affinity, same as the clan leader's But they were perplexed to see his paper crumble away bit by bit, since they already knew the affinities were somewhat inherited from their parents, as their's matched their parents too.

Kaemon was also stunned for a moment, but he hid his slight disappointment quickyly and started explaining to the children,

"We are truly blessed in this new generation, we got all 5 of the affinities, which is rare. Our clan members mostly get fire, lightning and in rare cases wind."

Looking at the children who were waiting for him to explain the affinity usage and appliancation with rapt attention, he continued,

"Alright, Fire and lightning is pretty obvious. Will result in Amaterasu and Raijin (black lightning). For wind, alhough Yin chakra will not change the very nature of element, it will boost the overall control of the element, with some added benefits in illusion, which you have to train properly. The highest form is of course the ability to fly and control air as if one's own limb."

Kanae looked excited with the idea of flying, surreptitiously stole a glance at Shinjo who caught her, as he was looking towards her, as were the others. Embarrassed at getting caught, she moved her attention to the clan leader as he continued his explanation,

"You should already have some the ideas as to what comes next. The material elements will always get a boost from yin chakra and the immaterial will straight-up change one or more aspects of the said element. Alright any questions?"

The youngest, Shin excitedly raised his hand. After getting a nod from the clan leader, he babbled in his childish voice,

"Clan leader, will you teach me how to create black lightning and the jutsus too?" Souji couldn't help but nod as well.

"But of course, but I can only guide you, the rest will depend on your talent and efforts. While you will have access to some of my self-created jutsus in Raijin, the greatest outcome will come, if and only if, you innovate your own jutsus. Yin chakra is not the same for everyone. It takes on the aspects of your personality. My Raijin can have extreme sharpness, as its main property, while yours could take on the behaviour of extreme destruction and Souji could give his Raijin extreme unstability, making it fickle and explosive. And so on. Yin is essentially the spirit, your own spirit will mould your kekkei genkai's effects."

The children all nodded thoughtfully, never really doubting their talent. They just had to put in the efforts.

"Okay, now scram. Talk to your parents and they will help mould the initial foundation for your kekkei genkais. But first and foremost, you must train to increase your control over your affinity. The kekkei genkais won't manifest until you hit puberty. The effect would be smaller and weaker depending on how much you have trained your affinities."

The children all nodded and rushed out to their respective home. Only Shinjo was left standing their thoughtfully.

Kaemon looked over to his son and uttered,

"Shinjo, while its a shame that you didn't get lightning affinity, fret not, for every element has its own strength and weakness. In terms versatility and stealth, Earth element can be the most dangerous. You can cultivate your affinity on that."

Shinjo nodded and replied in a light, subdued tone,

"I know, Tou-san (father), i will take my leave too." Leaving his father looking at his back, as he left the courtyard slowly and back to his room.
