Sage Class

The next day at the tavern, five days before the tournament.

Zen: "So, lets continue where we last left off."

Everyone goes silent, waiting for Cali's response.

Cali: "Im sorry, what was it again?"

Zen: "About the sage class thing you said."

Cali: "Oh, right. Sage magic is basically the power to control other people."

"Apparently, Manaless people are sage class magicians, they just cant use their magic properly. The reason for this is because its too complex, and using it without proper knowledge is too dangerous that could lead to death, most people who tried to control it probably died just through experimentation."

"But theres a basic way to control this type of magic, though its popularly mistaken as sorcery or black magic. Its a basic magic spell called Mirror Curse, it could be used by manaless people that turns your body into a voodoo doll. Whatever happens to the body of the spell caster will share the same fate to a target person or two. This spell is mostly used by suicidal people who wanted to drag someone else to the grave with them. Thats why the spell got a bad reputation. People who uses it are considered heretics."

Ceed: "I see. So that explains the unique nature of that spell."

Mica: "Are you sure its not the work of the devil? Most people believe it that way."

Cali: "Thats just because our culture was influenced by Fiona's religion, which is the dominant religion. Other than that, nothing else supports that idea."

Zen: "You do realize what you said is outrageous, right?"

Ceed: "This is getting a bit controversial.." He laughs nervously.

Cali: "I understand what you think but I am pretty confident about my stand."

Ceed: "A-anyway, I have been waiting for you to teach me thE Rosace sword style, Mr. Biel." His idea of changing topic is smart, but the delivery is very poor as he is too nervous.

Biel: "Ah, yes. Right!" He said in immediate realization of Ceed's intention.

"As you might already know, the primary stance of the Rosace swordstyle or what I personally call "The Thorn Blade" requires you to put your right feet a step forward and the left one at the back while the sword is held beside the hips with the whole blade behind you."

Ceed: "Yes, the sword is held like that to cover your blade from your opponent."

Biel: "Well it could, but they could determine the position of your sword just by looking at the handle."

Ceed: "Then how could you counter its weakness?"

Biel: "Its not a weakness because its not part of it. The main reason for that sword position is to protect yourself, the stance gives you a wider range to parry attacks from most directions. Its not really meant to decieve the enemy."

Cali: "It also has a meaning behind it." he smirks.

Ceed: "I see. But what is the meaning of it?"

Biel: "Its nothing important honestly."

Cali: "He made up that cringey meaning when he was a child and he's trying to forget it." laughs.

Biel: "Its not that bad. I mean its pretty mild compared to yours when you are in your edgy phase." He said in a rising tone.

Cali: "So thats how it is, huh?"

Biel: "You started it. Want me to keep going?"

Cali: "Here's fifty gold for you to shut up."

Biel: "Its good that you know what's up. Thank you."

Biel: "Ceed, you already know the basics, right? Theres not much I can teach you now except when it is best to use the stance. Once you get all of that you should make a style of your own using daggers that revolves around the same concept since the original style can only be used on swords or claymores."

Ceed: "Got it, master."

Biel: "Theres no need to call me that."

Cali: "With that out of the way, why dont we take a day of vacation four days from now?"

Zen: "We've only started training today and you're already thinking of vacation?"

Ceed: "Four days from now is the day before the tournament, right?"

Cali: "Yeah, Im planning we go to the beach on the south. I'll pay for it, dont worry."

Biel: "I agree. We need peak condition once we participate and we cant achieve it if we are tired from days of training. Resting is also necessary."

Zen: "Oh, I see."

Mica: "Its settled then."

Cali: "Why do you agree with it if Biel said it but when I said the same thing, you argue with me, huh?! Zen?!"

Zen: "Why are you asking me when its your fault for not explaining properly?!"

The two of them stared at each other aggressively. Zen blushes.

Cali: "Hm? Why is your face red? Are you sick?"

Zen: "I-Its nothing!"

Cali: "Are you sure?"

Cali touches her forehead to check her temperature.

Zen comepletely turns into a tomato.

Zen: "J-Just get off my face!"

Zen walks away.

Ceed: "Where are you going?"

Zen: "Its none of your business, especially you, Cali!"

Ceed and Biel laughs hysterically.

Mica giggles.

Cali smiles and thought to himself: "She's cute."
