Chapter 6

Leonard's assistant knocked on the door and entered the office. He handed a black envelope to Shirley respectfully.

Shirley subconsciously took the envelope and looked at it. A line of gilded words was on the cover.

It was an invitation to the National Technology Summit.

Shirley couldn't help but take a deep breath. She looked up at Leonard, with her eyes filled with both gratitude and confusion.

"Actually, with its current strength, the Sarton Group is not qualified to get an invitation to the National Technology Summit. However, our new president, Mr. Bruno, has agreed to offer you an extra invitation," Leonard explained with a smile when he noticed Shirley's expression.

"Mr. Bruno?" Shirley asked doubtfully. "May I ask what Mr. Bruno's full name is?"

Shirley knew about the replacement of the president of the Eric Group, but the detailed information about the new president hadn't been revealed.

It was the first time she had known that the new president's last name was Bruno.

Hearing this, Shirley subconsciously thought of Randall, whose first name was also Bruno.

"Sorry, Mr. Bruno's identity is currently confidential to the public." Leonard smiled apologetically.

Shirley nodded. She felt that her thoughts were a little ridiculous.

When she first met Randall, he was almost a destitute homeless.

How could he have any connections with the prestigious Eric Group?

Shirley still felt as if she was dreaming when she left Leonard's office.

Not until Shirley saw Randall standing at the elevator door in a security uniform, did she realize that all of this was true.

"Randall, I didn't expect that I would really get an invitation to the National Technology Summit," Shirley looked at Randall and said happily.

Randall was secretly amused. As the president of the Eric Group, he only sent an invitation to his wife, but she was so happy.

"Of course you could get it. I have told you that Mr. Mitchell is not a snob," Randall echoed Shirley. "Let's go back to tell everyone. By this, you have also proved that you are competent enough to be the CEO."

Shirley and Randall arrived at the Sarton Group while Stanley was holding a meeting in the conference room.

Hubert saw Shirley and Randall walk in and immediately mocked them. "Why are you back so soon? Shirley, did Mr. Mitchell ask security guards to drive you out? Oh, I forgot that Randall was the security guard."

Hubert's unbridled laughter aroused Stanley's dissatisfaction. Stanley glared at Hubert.

Hubert quickly shut up, but his expression was still disdainful.

"Grandpa, I got the invitation," Shirley said a little angrily after being mocked by Hubert.

"What? What invitation?" Stanley also thought Shirley had failed, so he almost couldn't react when he heard this.

"I got the invitation to the National Technology Summit," Shirley repeated, showing the invitation to Stanley.

Hubert recovered from the shock. He walked over and said, "How is that possible? Mr. Mitchell, the vice-chairman of the Eric Group, is such a famous entrepreneur in business in New York. How could he give you the invitation?"

"Hubert, do you still remember your promise? If Shirley gets the invitation, you will give the Miller Group to her," Randall looked at Hubert and said coldly.

Hubert immediately became angry. He grabbed the invitation from Shirley, opened it, and read it again.

He raised his head and said to Stanley, "Impossible! It might just be a piece of scrap paper, but Shirley said it was the invitation. It must be fake!"

"What nonsense are you spouting?" Shirley was so angry that her eyes turned slightly red.

"Shirley, it's fine if you can't do it. How could you deceive me?" Hearing Hubert's words, Stanley slammed the table and shouted angrily.

"Shirley, you actually came up with a fake invitation and deceived us to get my company. I didn't expect you to be this!" Hubert tore the invitation into pieces.

"You're slandering me!" Shirley looked at the torn invitation and felt sad.

"Mr. Sarton, the first batch of companies invited to the NTS has been announced on the official website of the Eric Group. Sarton Group is indeed on the list!"

An executive in the conference room suddenly spoke out loudly.

  "What?"

  "Is it true?"

As soon as the executive finished his words, everyone in the conference room looked surprised.

Stanley's anger turned into joy. He looked at the executive and said, "Vincent, read the announcement of Eric Group."

"Yes, Mr. Sarton." Vincent quickly shifted his gaze to the computer and said, "100 well-known enterprises are going to be invited to National Technology Summit. And there are 10 companies in the first batch, among which Sarton Group is the tenth..."

"Great, great." Stanley looked at Shirley with satisfaction. He had completely forgotten how he had questioned Shirley.

Hubert stood aside, stunned. He had never expected Shirley to get the invitation.

"Wait!" Vincent suddenly said, and everyone turned to him.

He continued with some difficulty, "According to the announcement, representatives of the invited enterprises will be only allowed to attend the summit with their invitations. A special chip created by the Eric Group has been inserted in the invitation and will be verified at the entrance. A fake invitation is invalid, and its owner will be subject to legal liability..."

When Vincent finished the last word, Hubert was completely at a loss.

Stanley glanced at the invitation that had just been torn apart by Hubert. He then raised his head, looking at Hubert gloomily.

"Grandpa, I..." Hubert wanted to apologize, but he was interrupted by Stanley.

  "Hubert, you bastard!" Stanley roared.
