Code K

A witcher was a person that kills monsters or supernatural beasts for people for money or other possessions.

The first generation witchers came into existence during the great crisis. An evil sorceress who ran wild, decided to cause havoc on the four lands. She used a forbidden spell to summon demons.

The creatures of the four lands, both vampires, witches, humans and elves, fought endlessly to defeat the demons. But as you know it, demons were immortals.

They tried to kill the sorceress to stop her from summoning more demons as their population was becoming almost countless but the demons made sure to protect the person that summoned them.

The chaos lasted for years but not until a brave man named Alias Elliott created the Five.

'The five' were the very first witchers, Alias Elliott was a mage and is forever regarded as the father of witchers.

The witchers were strong and strategic enough for them to penetrate the den of the sorceress and they successfully killed the sorceress.

Alias and some other group of mages used a spell to send the demons back to where they came from. As if the demons knew a day like this was coming, they had already scattered lower creatures of their world hidden around the nooks and crooks of the four lands, lower creatures who could be killed, to torment the four lands.

After the demons were sent back to their world, the four lands rejoiced, Alias and his witchers were greatly honored. Soon, the increase in the cases of murder became alarming and investigations led to the hidden demons that were now the monsters of the lands.

They tried to perform a total exorcism cleansing in the four lands to send the creatures back. They couldn't even tell how many they were.

When the ritual was performed, it was discovered that the passage to return these lower creatures was blocked and so it was up to the witchers to wipe the four lands clean of these monsters but how many could they kill, it was endless.

They fought endlessly using both weapons, dark magic and various skill sets and it was enough to maintain the little peace but the monsters weren't gone and so more witchers were needed.

After the death of Alias Elliott, his successor mage and the leader of the witchers changed the policies of witchery. What use to be built on dignity and respect and generosity and honesty turned into a money making and even swindling organization.

They started taking money from the people and every witcher, to every monster you kill, the money you earn, a percentage would be given to you while the rest goes to the organization and the leader of the organization.

People use to join the witcheryhood on free will but after news spread about the brutality of the process of becoming a witcher, people stopped joining.

The process was dreadful and not everybody can survive it. But the organization needed more witchers, strictly males and they ended up deceiving and even abducting homeless, defenseless children.

No one knew of this, all they needed were witchers to clean up their streets for them in exchange for money or other invaluable possessions.

To some people, witchers weren't the hero of anybody any more, they were regarded as mutants because you won't be yourself anymore once you are done with your training, they haven't went against the witchers as there were still monsters and they needed witchers to do the cleaning job for them.

***Present day...

"Aren't we there yet?" Luisa asked.

That day, they had left the forest to a small human town where a carriage was waiting for them. "Master Zeke, good afternoon...where to?" the coachman asked totally ignoring the little girl close to his master that was tainted with blood.

"Code K," Zeke replied and the coachman nodded. He opened the door of the carriage and Luisa and the witcher entered.

They started their journey. They sat opposite each other and Zeke's eyes were focused on the window looking at nothing in particular.

It was Luisa's first time riding in a carriage, there were carriages in her village both local and private, the private usually belongs to rich people mostly elves of the higher society, who happens to visit their village once in a while.

Luisa never takes the local carriage with her parents as it helps to save money, they usually walk and she hasn't left her village once for her to even take the local carriage.

Luisa's gaze were on him as they rode in silence. She wondered what creature he was before he became a witcher, he can't possibly be an elf, he didn't have the ears.

She wondered if he was a human because looking at the man, his beauty were too out of this world for him to possibly be just a human.

Zeke's eyes met hers, his aura for now was calm.

"What?" he asked and she smiled.

"Nothing, just...It's my first time riding in a carriage, does the carriage belong to you?" she inquired and he raised a brow.

"Yes, this one's a promotion gift from the leader of the witchers," he replied.

"You have another?!" the little girl exclaimed.

"Yes. You see, I'm a high ranked witcher with the second highest monster slaying record, only the leader of the witchers could beat me at that.

"He was my direct mentor after all. l have fame and money, you must have heard of me- Zeke, the demon slayer?" he asked but she shook her head.

"The nightmare of beasts?" he added but she shook her head again, his face almost dropped.

'How would you have heard of me anyway, in that isolated clan of yours?' he thought.

"Does it matter? Witchers aren't totally accepted in the society," she replied.

"Of course it matters and you'll understand when you are in it and who cares if they accept us entirely or not, they still need us to save their ass, don't they now? Why do you want to join, shortie?" he asked

"I have my reasons," she replied.

"Hmmm..." Zeke responded trying to ignore the little girl.

"Why did your coachman address you with the abbreviation of your name?" Luisa asked, most people of the high society might find it disrespectful.

"That's how I told everyone to address me, the peasants or lower status people or people who aren't my close allies, including the title 'Master' to it, while some add- 'Senior witcher' to it.

"The people in the place I'm taking you to are the ones that mostly add 'Senior witcher' to it. l'm more comfortable with the abbreviation of my name. My full name reminds me so much of things I don't want to remember. Now try to shut up, you're annoying me." Zeke ended, closing his eyes.

While Luisa pouted her lips at him in thought. But he had told her to call him just Zeke, were they close allies or acquaintances now? What does his full name remind him of? She had so many questions but remained quiet as instructed by him.

...

"Aren't we there yet?" Luisa asked.

"Why don't you see for yourself?" Zeke replied and so Luisa looked through the window.

They just passed the mighty entrance and were entering into the place. It looked large, like a kingdom of its own but also it looked and felt dark, it was no paradise but it was awfully cool and brazen to behold.

The place was surrounded by witchers, all male, who walked in and out and around the place, all busy with something, some jesting, some sparring with either fists or weapons, some leaving, some entering with both foot, horses or carriages like them.

"What do you think, shortie?" Zeke asked.

"It's daunting," she replied and Zeke smirked.

"And why do you keep calling me that? I've already told you my name," she frowned.

"(Huffs)...Welcome to kimoira, code K, the home of witchers." Zeke introduced, ignoring her question.

The carriage stopped at a building and the coachman opened the door for them. The building was tall, almost like a tower, it was grey in color, four-square straight and it looked gloomy.

"Follow me!" Zeke told and walked inside, Luisa followed immediately.

Inside the building looked more like a council. Witchers including mages were present in the building, all working.

"Zeke!!" a man with long ginger red hair with a beard called. His golden eyes indicated that he was a witcher. His face and smile held surprise. "What brings you here today?"

"Is he in?" Zeke inquired straight to the point.

"Sure...Who's the kid?" the man asked

"You'll get to know," Zeke replied and walked pass the man. They got to a two sided door and Zeke didn't even bother to knock, he just opened it and walked in, Luisa followed.

There were three men in the room, two who looked like senior mages and the other hefty one was a witcher. He was the leader of the witchers named Nuka Caudion.

He was a second generation witcher, one of the oldest witchers who has worked his way to the top, he was tall and hefty with a long scar on his face, making him to look almost scary.

They all glared at Zeke for interrupting them without apologizing as if they didn't know him already, he just grinned at them like a devil.

They were seated at a long table that contained twelve seats. The room was wide with drinks at the corner, couches and other artifacts decorated the room, it looked like the leader's office or drawing room.

The candles and fireplace lilt the room with light and heat as it was already dusk.

...

"What? Hell no! This would be the dumbest thing ever, never in our history has a girl become a witcher and it won't start now," Nuka disagreed. Luisa was sent outside so that the grown ups could talk.

"She volunteered," Zeke reminded and silence reigned.

"Tsk...This is suicide for the girl, you know that right?" one of the mages stated.

"She won't even be able to survive only the physical training," Nuka added.

"She's an elf," Zeke objected.

"And so?" Nuka replied.

"You and I know that that elf girl is way more capable than any human boy," Zeke responded.

"Yes, he is right. Besides, it's not against any rules or laws of the witchers that a girl can't become a witcher. Hmm... Men everywhere, maybe it's time we start recruiting girls for a change, what do you say gentlemen?" the other mage suggested and Nuka let out a throaty laugh.

"(Still chuckling)...Oh, you guys are killing me.(Stops chuckling abruptly) NO! We're not doing that," Nuka stood his ground.

"And why not?" Zeke asked and the mages also stared at Nuka.

"Okay, I see what you are doing. I don't even know why I'm against it, the girl won't even last a week," Nuka said.

"And if she does?" Zeke responded.

"Tsk...If she does which I know she won't, maybe after her training and she survives, we can start recruiting girls. But...Under one condition?" Nuka requested.

"What condition?"
