...................................................................

The room had been dark when Maze and Linda entered the penthouse. Broken bottles and destroyed pictures lay scattered across the floor. The furniture was flipped, and Lucifer sat in the only chair not flipped. His clothes were disheveled, and his hair a mess. His knuckles bled, and they noticed a hole in the wall. Chloe must have been close enough for him to hurt himself.

"Lucifer?" Linda cautiously approached him.

He didn't move, just continued glaring at the floor. Linda frowned, whether he was intentionally ignoring her, or simply didn't hear her, she was still worried. Maze placed a hand on Linda's shoulder pulling her back.

"You won't get anything from him when he's like this." Maze said.

"We can't leave him like that, can we do something? I mean, what do we do?"

Maze stared a him a moment before turning around, digging in her pockets for her phone.

"We call Y/N."

~

You'd been asleep when your phone rang, you had been so deep in your slumber you almost hadn't heard it. With your head still buried under your blanket you reached over to grab the offending device. You were tired as you answered, nearly halfway asleep when Maze's voice pulled you from your haze entirely.

You sat up, throwing the blanket off yourself as you swung your legs over the side of the bed. You grabbed your shoes as you held the phone between your shoulder and your ear.

"Let me change and I'll be there soon."

You hug up, tossing your phone onto the bed as you hurried to the closet. You hurried to dress, and made your way out of the house.

Linda turned her head towards the elevator when she heard the doors slide open. Maze was fixing the furniture when you walked in. Lucifer hadn't moved from his place in the corner, but he did lift his head to see who was here. His eyes held your gaze for a moment before dropping back down to stare at the floor.

You offered Linda a small smile as you walked over to Lucifer. Maze nodded to you as she finished her task and went to stand beside Linda again. The blonde woman watched as you gently pried the empty cup from Lucifer's bloody hand.

"Who's that?" Linda asked curiously.

"Y/N, she is Lucifer's... best friend, I guess is what you'd call her. If he's in a mood it's best to leave it to her." Maze explained.

She led Linda away, leaving you alone to deal with the brooding devil.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

Lucifer turned his gaze to you, heaving a sigh.

"Not particularly."

You nodded and stood to your feet. You took his empty glass with you as you made your way to the kitchen, returning with a glass of water. Lucifer frowned when you handed it to him.

"If you're going to give me a drink, might I suggest something a bit stronger?"

You gave him a stern expression as you grabbed the broom and dust pan.

"Drink the water Lucifer."

He gave you a small smile, but did as you said. He watched you closely as you swept up the shards of broken glass.

"It's awfully late darling, why are you here?"

You swept the mess into the dustpan, tossing it into the trash.

"Maze called me. She said you were in a funk, so here I am." You said dusting off your hands.

You moved around the room to gather the picture frames and various other things strewn across the floor.

"A funk?" Lucifer inquired, raising an eyebrow.

"Depressed, upset, just something Maze says when she thinks you may need help pulling yourself out of your head." You explained.

Lucifer watched you place things back in their rightful place, assuring the penthouse was once again clean.

"You didn't need to come my dear, I'm quite alright." Lucifer frowned.

You turned your attention to him, smiling a little.

"I thought the devil didn't lie?"

Lucifer scoffed, taking a sip of the water you had given him.

"I don't, I feel just fine." He muttered.

You hummed a little, grabbing his first-aid kit from under the bar.

"Just because you fine doesn't mean you are." You sat down in front of him, on the coffee table.

Lucifer pulled his hand back when you reached for it.

"I don't need help."

You grabbed his hand, carefully pulling it towards you.

"I know you don't."

Lucifer stared at you as you clean his bloody knuckles, carefully wrapping them, despite knowing it wouldn't hurt him.

"She's run off, far away from me." Lucifer muttered.

You looked up from your task, frowning a little.

"Chloe?"

He nodded, and you released his hand as you finished wrapping his knuckles.

"I've scared her off, perhaps for good."

Your heart ached for him as you realized, she had finally seen his devil face. That she had reacted in exactly the way he'd always feared she would.

"Lucifer..."

He brushed your hand away when you went to place it on his shoulder.

"Spare me your sympathy, it's not as if her reaction was much of a surprise."

You stared at him a moment, before grabbing his arm pulling him to his feet. Lucifer let out a weak protest as you shoved him in the direction of his bathroom.

"Stop your whining, and listen up, because this is what you're going to do."

Lucifer opened his mouth to comment on your sudden change in behavior but you didn't let him get a word out. You pushed him into his closet.

"You're going to shower, shave because your adorable scruff is becoming a beard."

You grabbed one of his suits, shoving it into his hands.

"You're going to get dressed, in something you haven't worn for days. Fix your hair, and you're going to go down to Lux, maybe play the piano. You're going to smile, have fun, and just for tonight you're going to forget about Chloe, about what happened. Just for tonight, you're going to pretend everything is okay, because it will be."

Lucifer stared at you, furrowing his eyebrows.

"How can you be certain of that? You didn't see the way she looked at me." Lucifer said bitterly.

You fixed the collar of his shirt, giving him a reassuring smile.

"Because you're Lucifer Morningstar. You're her partner, her friend, I've seen the two of you together. Because she'd have to be completely out of her mind to leave you behind."

Your words were firm, your tone serious. You had no doubt in your mind it would all work out for him, Lucifer smiled at you. Your assure all he needed.

"Yes... I suppose waiting around here won't do me much good."

"Exactly, now get dressed, have fun, and stop over thinking it."

Lucifer pressed a grateful kiss to your forehead, making you laugh a little.

"I don't know what I'd do without you darling."

"Crash and burn." You teased.

Lucifer chuckled at your remark and you watched him disappear into the bathroom. You waited until you heard the water running before grabbing your jacket and leaving to go back home. A satisfied smile tugging at your lips.
