The Ocean view- Part 1

"I can't believe you got me into this. You even have me wearing a blonde hair. " Mira said in a regrettable and irritated tone.

She didn't like planes and now theirs had just landed. Rolling their bags toward the main entrance to use the Uber Lucian had ordered, she was struck by the thought of all they were there to do. This only made her worry.

"If you don't like the job, you could quit," Lucian replied, checking his watch.

"This has nothing to do with the job. This is insane." She said.

"It has everything to do with the job. Sacrificing all that's necessary to move the company forward and keep it running is the job. You wearing a blonde wig, I am wearing a black curly one. I don't hear myself complaining or you think I enjoy looking this way? It's been your voice all along and it's beginning to make my ears itch. So if you could just please stop talking. " He replied to her before quickening his steps to get ahead of her.

She got upset.

"Maybe doing this with Theo would have been easier." She said.

He raised both eyes before turning to her.

"Was that meant to hurt my feelings? How pathetic. If you love him that much, you should be with him." He said before storming out of the building.

She stared at him with anger and disgust. Wondering if that's what she would have to deal with all year.

The Uber arrived on time and checked into the hotel room having confirmed their booking.

It was an exotic suite. Lovely and spacious. It had a mini dining area, a living room with one long couch, a table, a large television, and one large bed in the room area. The bed looked very comfortable,  she couldn't wait to get her body on it.

He had picked the right room— it gave a beach view. A pretty sight it was. One could hear the waves sing a symphony.

Lucian was just exiting the bathroom when his eyes glanced at Mira lying on the bed.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"What does it look like?" she asked.

"We don't have time for this. Get up, we need to review the plan once more. Don't want you blowing this up." He said.

"I don't know. The feeling that you will be the one doing that is quite strong. I feel it in my bones." She told him.

"Get up." He repeated.

"Trust me when I say I don't need to go over it a fifth time except it's just you…" She said.

"Fine. But if things turn south, I am not saving your ass." He assured her.

"I pray it doesn't turn out the other way round otherwise I will put it out there on every social media platform and tag you on all." She said.

He took his eyes off her and slid his body from the jacket he wore. He left his white shirt and black fitted trousers where he buried his hands as he approached the door.

He turned open the glass door knob after releasing his right hand, and a cooling breeze sneaked in. He had his face fixed on the ocean all the while he walked with both hands buried in his pockets. no one else was there.

Mira turned her body on the bed and lifted her head to see him go. She looked confused.

"What's his deal?" she voiced.

She saw him stand there like one lost in his thoughts. She didn't know how but got off the bed.

"No, he doesn't deserve my concern." She said, turning back to lie down.

"Urgh, he is Theo's blood." She said again before heaving a sigh of frustration as she got up and out of bed.

"You are the weirdest human I have met." She said from behind him.

Her words didn't even make him move or startle him given that she had just sneaked behind him.

She turned towards the ocean and stared at it for a bit.

"Oh well, this is sad." She concluded.

"What do you know about sadness?" he finally asked.

"It's written all over you." She answered.

"You know nothing about me," He said.

"I don't think I would want to know," she replied.

"You see me as some—disease." He said.

"Not some disease. You are a tiny spark of light in a dark place. I just haven't figured if it's that way in your head or you in this world." She told him.

"You are terrible at reading people." He told her.

"Maybe I choose not to delve deeper. I may not come out sane." She told him.

"In the end, we aren't so different from each other. Different faces, different lives, and still at different points in our different journeys, we have similar pain we are forced to live with." He said, finally turning his face to her.

She blinked her eyes repeatedly before retrieving her face from him.

"I believe anything can be contained. Pain, problems, regrets. Nothing is above a human's power in this construct of life. Occasionally, it may feel like it does, but choice is just as consequential as self-will. You don't have to obey the way it says." she said.

He smirked with his eyes still fixed on her.

"You are so childlike. Even your words are naive. The world is bigger than you know, Mira. It's like this ocean— Pretty. You just want to get in but beneath it lies many mysteries that your mind is still not ready for. Before you realize what's happening, you drown." He told her.

"Wow, wisdom. I can listen to you all day. " A masculine voice spoke from behind them. Whoever was the speaker also clapped in applause.

They turned to see who it was and there stood a weird-looking man with a smile on his face.

"Who are you?" Lucian asked.
