Ms. Darla- Part 1

The morning invariably arrived and Mira had quickly gotten ready for work.

Her face was reserved, and her eyes wouldn't cease tramping about in their sockets as she awaited the elevator to get her to her destination.

She adjusted her fitted black and white knee-length dress and held on firmly to her bag in her other hand. She had the ideal legs for heels and in the white ones she picked for the day, they looked gorgeous.

Heaving a sigh, she stepped out of the elevator and headed for her office attempting to uphold a straight head.

A few steps to her door and Lucian came out of his office with another man dressed in formal attire.

Their eyes had met and her heart shirked in a manner she wasn't comfortable with. Likewise, he froze for a bit and it seemed like he had something to say but had to hold back.

She bowed and sped away until she was in her office and stood with her back against the door with her eyes closed.

Once she unlocked them, she paced over to take her seat and get on with the day's job.

Ten minutes passed and her telephone rang. It unnerved her. She had yielded in reflection unknowingly and now her eyes flickered uncontrollably.

She was hesitant to take the call, but she could see it was his office line call. She took it nonetheless and soon found herself standing at his door.

She braced up and strode in, shutting the door behind her carefully. She couldn't look at him, her eyes stayed fixed on the window view.

He got up from his seat and walked towards her. She took a step back and that was enough to indicate she didn't want him to get close. He stopped.

"You are avoiding me. Why?" He asked her in a calm tone.

"I am not avoiding you," she said.

"I don't know what you remember from last night but nothing happened. Aside from the kiss, I promise. He sounded desperate for her to believe him.

"I know," she said.

"You do? Then why the attitude?" He asked her.

"The kiss should never have occurred," she said.

"We were drunk." He told her.

"It doesn't justify how silly it was. You are my boss. Theo's nephew. You didn't want me to drink that much but I made you drink and we ended up doing that." She sounded regretful.

"I know how you feel but it is fine. If I didn't want to drink, you couldn't force me. In addition to feeling bad, I also feel like I took advantage of you." he said.

"No, I did that." She argued

" You did nothing," he assured her.

"I just- don't- know how to be around you after all that. It's just- really strange." She said.

"Why?" he asked.

"What do you mean by why?" She found his question absurd.

"We kissed," she whispered.

"You sound like it's taboo." He said.

"It is taboo,  maybe not for you but for me." She said, looking away.

"What is it?" He inquired, catching a glimpse of her expression, which had abruptly changed to a relatively sad one.

"It's nothing," she replied.

"You can tell me what it is -" He tried to get close again but she wouldn't let him.

"It's nothing." * She assured him.

"Okay. It's okay. Have your seat." He said, veering around and walking over to take his seat.

It appeared he had just switched back to his more serious self.

"So the safe has been cracked. The sci-tech has been analyzed and our expert team will start working on it. You just need to supervise it so that it comes out better and the case has been returned, you have nothing to fear. " He said to her.

"Thanks." She said.

"The explosion of course is all over the news. The Wongs will not find it funny and I suspect his next step will be to smoke the rat out." He said.

"He would do so with reporters. '' She said.

"Yes, he will suspect we had a hand in it and will have reporters at our doorstep anytime asking questions and hoping we flop in our reactions.

You shouldn't because I won't." He said.

"I take it that they haven't found the case yet," she said.

"As I told you, it will be taken to the site but in a believable location. Before they find it, he will make a lot of noise." He assured her.

"Then security needs to be tougher. They will keep an eye on us until they find it," she said.

"Which is why we can't have our plan carried out here. Like him, it will have to be in a secluded area. Where they wouldn't look.

So our focus on other projects will throw them off track," he said.

"I agree," she said.

"Good." He responded.

"And Rad?" she inquired.

"I don't know. What if we kill him?" He asked.

"What?" she voiced.

He laughed.

"I was kidding. You should see your face." He said.

She sighed in relief.

"Not funny." She said.

"And why do you have pictures of John Wick all over your home?" she inquired.

"What's wrong with that? I love the movie. " He said.

"It's creepy." She told him.

"Creepy? I think wearing a black bra under a black top is creepy. Like what are you? Batgirl?" He replied to her.

"Has anyone ever told you how peeving you are?" She asked him.

He smiled and said, "You tell me every day now.".

"Don't do that." She said, looking away.

"Don't do what?" He asked.

"That," she said.

"I shouldn't smile? Shouldn't I breathe as well?" He said.

"Oh gosh." She voiced.  She seemed exhausted from their conversation already.

"Will that be all, sir?" she inquired.

"I have an appointment with Ms. Darla," he said.

"What appointment is that? It's not on the schedule?" She asked.

"It isn't. She wishes to discuss business over lunch at the Elite's so you would fill in for me at the meeting with Mr. Raj." He said.

"I am not comfortable with not knowing the purpose of the meeting and why you accepted at all when it's so spur-of-the-moment which translates to desperate." She said.

"Mira, you are my assistant, not my bodyguard. I will be fine. She needs a loan and we will discuss my interests." He told her.

"A loan? Cheap lie. " She scoffed.

"What about it?" he asked.

"Nothing, it's just- she is like a predator." She said.

"I am no kid. She has eyes for me, but I am not attracted to older women. She is only trying to gain my attention. She doesn't need a loan." He said.

"Then why bother at all?" she asked.

"Because we need to do something about El Dorado," he told her.

"What do you want to do?" Strike a bargain with her to eliminate him? Sex for her help? She is a whore, her weakness lies with desperate handsome young men. " She said.

"Did you just compliment me?" He asked her, leaning his back on the chair.

It struck her that she had just said words that didn't need to be heard and now she couldn't move her tongue.

He smiled and got up. As he did, her eyes rested on his dick area. She blinked those lustful eyes away and cleared her throat.

He came over to where she sat. She felt stupid that she was the one feeling the way she felt around him when it should have been the other way around.

She got strange feelings about him being that close to her and tightened her thighs against each other.

It seemed she couldn't do it- couldn't be brave enough. She got up so suddenly that he glanced oddly at her.

"It's okay," he said.

"I have no intention of harming you. We'll talk when I get back." He added and then walked past her.

'Hell yeah, I am tagging along.' She said in her head as she turned to watch him leave.
