CHAPTER 12: The invitation

Kelly had just come home after spending a wonderful evening with Joseph. They had gone out to dinner and taken a long walk by the river. It had been a perfect evening, but Kelly knew that she was in trouble.

As she walked towards her room, Kelly's step-sister, maria, blocked her way.

"Sister where were you?" maria asked, her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

Kelly sighed. She knew that maria would not let her go without a fight.

"What dies it matter to you?" Kelly replied, hoping to avoid any further questions.

But mriaa was not satisfied. She grabbed Kelly by the arm and pulled her towards their father's study.

"Father has been asking about you," Emma said, a smirk playing on her lips.

Kelly's heart sank. She knew that her father would not let this go easily. She was really tired and needed to rest. She could feel a headache coming.

As they entered the study, Kelly's father looked up from his work and stared at her.

"Where have you been?" he asked, his voice cold and stern.

Kelly tried to keep her composure, but she could feel her anger rising.

"why do you care?" she repeated, her voice shaking slightly.

But her step-sister was quick to make things worse. " father you don't have to worry. I saw her with a boy. and I actually know him, I don't think he's the kind of person you think he is."

Kelly's father's eyes narrowed, and he turned to look at her. "Is that true?, Were you with a boy?"

Kelly coldly stared at maria for a moment before finally nodding. "Yes, it is."

Her father's expression softened slightly, and he looked at her with a mixture of disappointment and concern.

"I don't approve of you dating at your age, Kelly. But since you have already made the mistake of telling me, I want to meet this young man."

Kelly's heart sank. She had made a mistake by telling her father about Joseph, how was she going to explain to him that they were not dating, how did he even come up with that conclusion? It seems like old age caught up with him. And if she told him that she wasn't dating Joseph that would mean losing to maria and she didn't want that.

As she walked towards her room, Kelly thought about the situation. She didn't know if Joseph would agree to come and pretend to be her boyfriend. heck, she wasn't even sure of how to ask him.

But as she thought about it more, Kelly realized that there was no other way out of this situation. She had to invite Joseph over and face the consequences of her actions.

Taking a deep breath, Kelly went back to her father's study and told him that she would invite Joseph over.

Her father nodded, and Kelly knew that she had made a mistake.

As she walked back to her room, Kelly realized that she had put her relationship with Joseph in jeopardy. She had made the mistake of telling her father, and now she had to deal with the consequences.

As she sat on her bed, staring at the ceiling, Kelly knew that she had to find a way to make things right with Joseph. She had to explain to him why she had told her father that they were dating because she didn't want him to misunderstand.

But for now, Kelly had to deal with the reality of the situation. She had to invite Joseph over, and she had to face the consequences of her actions. It was a mistake that she would never forget.
