Chapter 4: Pack Up and Come With Me

In the middle of April.

Spring breezes were blowing.

The weather was getting warmer but Cicely still felt very cold.

Since she came back from the hospital, she had coughed more frequently. She was not short of money, and with active treatment and the doctor's encouragement, if possible, she still wanted to stay alive.

At least there was still hope for her to survive. Just looking at the plants at home would give her a sense of satisfaction.

One day, Cicely was busy sorting the medicine prescribed by the doctor and putting them into a small box when the sound of a car came from the yard.

She looked out and saw Field stepping out of the car. Suddenly, she became nervous and hurriedly stuck all the medicine in the drawer.

Field entered the room quickly. When he saw Cicely dodging, a trace of annoyance flashed across his eyes. "Why is your face so pale? Pack up and come to the hospital with me."

Cicely clenched her fists. "Why going to the hospital for no reason?"

Seeing Cicely in a daze, Field walked over, grabbed her wrist, and stuffed her into the car. In the blink of an eye, the car started and drove away.

Half an hour later.

Cicely saw the sign of the hospital.

She was flustered and happy. Flustered because she wondered if he had knew about her illness. Happy that he finally knew she was sick. Then, would he treat her better?

With that expectation, she suddenly felt that it wouldn't matter even if she died in the next moment.

In the hospital.

Field quickly handed Cicely over to the doctor.

She obediently followed the doctor to have a physical examination and found it completely different from what she had taken before.

"Doctor, may I ask what kind of examination I just took?"

"This... just the most normal physical examination."

"Why did I need a kidney test?" Cicely had taken a lot of tests recently and she could read some examination results.

For a normal physical examination, there's no need for such a thorough kidney exam.

The doctor looked at Cicely and said, "Let's finish the examination first! Mr. Keith is still waiting for the results."

An hour later, Cicely walked out of the examination room and saw Field standing there.

She thought that he must be waiting for her. She was overjoyed and was about to run up to him, only to see him answering a phone call.

She didn't want to disturb him, so she just stood behind him waiting for him to finish his call.

Unexpectedly, Field had gone when she came back from her trance state seconds later. But she saw Field's assistant, Henry.

"Mr. Chapman, where's Field? Do you know what examination I just took?"

Looking at Cicely's pale face, Henry vaguely felt that this woman was very pitiful. He said softly, "The president went to see Miss White. She is ill and running a matching test on the other side of the hospital."

"What kind of disease?" The disease that needed matching should be very serious.

"Well... I don't know." Henry realized he had said the wrong thing, and lowered his head and said no more.

"Kidney disease?" Cicely sounded him out.

Henry clenched his fists but did not speak.

Cicely had almost figured things out from Henry's manner. No wonder she had a test on kidney!

Field loved Bertha so much that he even asked herself to do a matching test.

The thought of Field's desperate love for Bertha made her suddenly realize how pathetic she was. How dare she delude herself that he would treat her better?

Stumbling forward, she felt like walking on cotton. Her sense of security had gone.

When Field came back, Cicely had already gone.

"Where's Cicely? She can leave now. Drive her back." Field was planning to ask Henry to take Cicely back in the first place.

"Madam went back by herself." Henry said softly, "She didn't look very well when she left. She also asked about the examination she just did. I told her about Miss White's matching test."

"You talked too much!"

Field's face sank. He snatched the car key from his assistant and hurried to the villa.
