Chapter 3 If It Hurts, Have Some Candy

Cicely couldn't be bothered to waste any more time and emphasized again, "Give me the medicine!"

Seeing that Bertha refused to give it to her, Cicely stepped forward to grab it. However, before she could touch Bertha, the latter fell back to the ground.

"Cicely!" A man's chilling voice came from behind her.

She turned around and saw that Field had appeared behind her and was staring at her coldly.

"Field, I..."

"Get lost!"

Cicely wanted to explain but was interrupted by Field.

He pushed her away coldly and walked up to Bertha. "Bertha, are you all right?"

Cicely was pushed to the ground, her hands rubbing hard against the ground. Trembling in pain, she looked up and saw that Field was checking if Bertha was injured.

When she saw that his eyes were full of Bertha, she felt frustrated.

After confirming that Bertha was fine, Field stared at Cicely coldly and said, "Bertha is sick. How can you push her?"

"Would you believe me if I said I didn't push her?" retorted Cicely.

"Field, I'm fine. Don't blame Cicely. It's my fault for losing my balance. Don't quarrel for me," Bertha pulled him and said.

Cicely looked at Bertha pitifully. "What does it have to do with you whether my husband and I quarrel or not?"

Bertha's face turned red in an instant, and she burst into tears.

"Cicely, you've gone too far." Field's face darkened.

Cicely thought to herself, "So I went too far again?"

She spread out her scratched hand, which was bleeding. "My hand is injured. You pushed me and hurt me because of Bertha. Who went too far?"

Field's heart skipped a beat when he saw the bloodstains on Cicely's palm. "There's an emergency room ahead. bandage up yourself."

"Can you take me there? I don't know the way." Cicely looked at him. It was a lie that she didn't know the way. She just wanted him to accompany her for a while.

"Cicely, how did you get here if you don't know the way?" Field did not hesitate to expose Cicely's lie. He said coldly, "If you don't know, then leave your wound like that. Anyway, it's not me who is in pain."

Field thought that Cicely was stupid!

She was a terrible liar.

He didn't understand why his grandfather asked him to marry such a woman.

He felt annoyed to see Cicely. He glanced at her bloody hand and strode away.

Bertha could read his mind. She pursed her lips and grabbed his hand. "Field, I'll take Cicely to the emergency room!"

"Don't worry about her. Bertha, let's go."

After Field left, Bertha glanced at Cicely with a smile and quickly caught up with him.

Cicely looked at their backs sadly. She clenched her fists so tightly that she couldn't feel the blood flowing out.

She saw it now. This was her husband, who never loved her. In his eyes, she had always been unreasonable and pretentious!

Suddenly, she felt an itch in her throat and couldn't help coughing.

Suddenly, a tissue appeared in front of her. Cicely looked up and saw a little girl in a hospital gown smiling at her.

"Miss, are you sick? You must take your medicine. You'll be fine after taking it."

Cicely looked at the girl in a daze.

"Does it hurt? My mom said that you have to be strong. Even if it hurts, you have to endure it." The little girl stuffed a piece of candy into Cicely's injured hand. "If it hurts, have some candy."

Cicely looked at the candy and nodded at the little girl. "Thank you. If I feel pain, I will eat the candy."

The little girl nodded with a smile. When she heard someone calling her, she turned around and ran away.

Looking at the candy in her hand, Cicely felt warm in her heart.

She thought, "Even a stranger would give me some warmth, even though it is just a piece of candy.

"But Field left not even a word of concern."
