"Charlotte Cooper, you're awake! How are you feeling? Is it still painful? Do you want me to call a doctor?"
The next morning, Charlotte was woken up early by the pain from her wound. She was too sleepy to bear it, and just as she was about to wake up, she heard a man's voice before opening her eyes.
A man appeared in the ward of a married woman, but it wasn't Henry Russell's voice. What was going on?
Instantly, Charlotte opened her eyes and saw Hugo's scrunched-up face swaying in front of her.
His two hands were poking around like a mole's, leaving Charlotte utterly confused.
"You came so early."
Charlotte looked out the window; the sky was already brightening but still had a touch of blue. It hadn't been light for long.
"Hehe, I was so scared when I heard you got in an accident yesterday. I wanted to come right away, but I was busy. Henry was so worried about you, so I figured you wouldn't need me."
Hugo awkwardly and apologetically explained, making Charlotte laugh.
