Chapter 49 Believing Her Deception

A sense of unease lingered in the air around Collin. Not wanting to jump to conclusions, he glared at Lisa and asked, "What did Renata say to you behind my back?"

Lisa shook her head as expected. "She has been very kind to me, taking good care of me."

There was a subtle shift in Collin's long eyelashes. "Don't you find it strange to say that she has been taking care of you?"

Indeed, the whole town of Mondousville assumed Lisa was Collin's new flame, and Renata was Collin's ex-wife, who had divorced him less than two months ago. Normally, the ex-wife and the new girlfriend wouldn't get along, especially since Collin sent Lisa to stay with Renata.

Lisa looked at Collin, her gaze earnest. "Renata doesn't see me as a rival. She considers me a friend."

With a smile playing on his lips, Collin said, "Her acting skills are certainly enough to fool you."
