chapter 11: The Lost tapes

It had been a few hours it felt like when I had finally began waking up. My eyes moved under the lids and I could hear voices around me. Must be some people waiting for me to wake up. I begin opening my eyes slightly having them try and adjust to the new bright lights that surrounded me. I was on a bed with simple sheets and a light blanket over my legs. I was still in a hospital gown meaning I must've been resting after the surgery. Once my eyes adjusted I could see several figures in the room Cormac was sitting across from me and Raylee sat in a chair leaning against the wall, as I focused I realized just how beat they look. My eyes widen as I sit up and look at them.

"What the hell happened to you guys?!" I say looking from one to the next. Sona walked in and smiled.

"Hey look our sleeping beauty is awake finally." she says with a chuckle as she sits on the bed. She pats my leg

"Glad to see you up hun" she states and looks back to the others.

I speak again.

"Yes I am glad to be awake but my concerns are these two" I say pointing at Cormac and Raylee. Cormac nods and walks towards me before leaning on the end of the bed.

"I guess we can't ignore it and will have to face it. While you were in getting your surgery the hospital was ambushed, not only by guards but by gangs as well, they were looking for you. It seems the bounty on your head is greater than we anticipated. Due to this we can't stay here for much longer. We need to get out.

I look at him in confusion.

"Get out? Where in the hell would we go then Cormac? do you know anywhere honestly?"

Cormac looks at me, a sincerity in his eyes.

"Yes I know for a fact where we need to go. We need to leave this city entirely. If we don't and they get a hold of you I don't know what they will do honestly, it will definitely be anything but good that is a known fact. They want to use you as a weapon to keep others at bay and to continue listening to El Doro. We can't have that they already have many cruel things they do to the people across the world trapped in their cities. We need to stop them because nobody else will."

Cormac says as he grips the bed frame harder than before.

"I wont lose you again." as he says this I tilt my head.

"Again? You've never lost me though for there to be an again?"

He takes a deep breath.

"That is where you're wrong actually, there's more going on here then you realize. I think there's a better way to show you."

He says as he calls someone. Joel answers

"Hey C what do ya need?"

Cormac looks at the hologram

"Hey Jay Cyra is awake and I think we need to show her the tapes now, there are a lot of blanks missing and I think it's best that she learns the truth about everything. About us, about her, about the past. We need to start moving forward with a plan of action but we have to prepare her for what's to come."

Jay nods in the hologram

"Boss, bring her to the theatre room." they nod at each other as they close the call. I cross my arms.

"Did you really just talk to him like I am not here." flustered I spoke. It was unfair to be treated like that.

"Also what the hell are you talking about with tapes this doesn't make sense. Why are people after me why am I so special, I hate it." anger resonated within me with many questions still unanswered

"I will explain everything after we finish watching the tapes. For now get dressed we're heading to the theatre upstairs"

He says as he stands up. Raylee puts a pair of black leggings and a white tank top at the foot of my bed with some sneakers and a hair tie. Before turning and following Cormac out of the room. Sona was the only one left. I look at her.

"Are they both always that cold? It's like they dont understand feelings entirely."

Sona looks at me.

"Thats where youre wrong dear, those two know more about feelings and emotions then they let off, they've just been hurt and damaged so much they try to suppress them, they feel they can make them weak. But trust me they probably know more about pain than anyone else in this base. You will understand there motives soon enough and once there ready you will see them in a whole new light. Now get dressed Ill assist if you need it at all but im going to wait on the other side of the curtain." With that she got up and moved the curtain across leaving Cyra to get dressed in the room.

A short time after I swing my legs over the side of the bed and slide to the edge. I bring my feet to the floor which sends a tingly sensation from the cool tiles through my legs. I stand on shaky legs that I hadn't moved I guess in a few days, it had turned out that about 5 days had actually passed since the surgery.

I looked at myself in the mirror, part of my hair had been shaved off and a clean bandage rested where they took the object out of. I pull my hair up into a high ponytail and look at myself a moment more. I was paler than usual probably due to the lack of nutrients, I would change that soon. Grab something to eat to begin regaining my energy back. I push the curtain out of the way to see Sona sitting near the exit. She looks up at me and gives a nod of approval as I walk towards her.

"Well they're definitely not wrong about you being strong, walking on your own after being bed ridden for almost a week that's a pretty good achievement. Here lets get you some stuff then meet Cormac and them in the theatre."

She says as she opens the door motioning for me to walk through.

"I'd like that" I say as I walk out with Sona closing the door behind us then coming to my side as we head to grab something to eat.

It was about 20 minutes later when we came to the double grey doors that opened into a theatre room. As we walk in I see Raylee and Cormac sitting, and talking with 2 seats between them. Joel and Julius were there as well and Sona was still beside me. I could see figures in the dark but could make out any features. We walk over to where Cormac and Raylee were. I stand between the two of them.

"So what are these tapes all about?"

She sits in her chair and Cormac sigh's for a moment.

"I only know so much. I haven't seen you for almost 12 years after the incident."

I look at him

"What Incident?"

Cormac looks at her then the others who sat around in silence.

"12 years ago something happened that I have fought with ever since. You were only 10 at the time. So young and innocent. You didn't know what was going on when those men showed up to your family home. I had been there but hid like the coward I was, back when I was weak. I couldn't do anything so I hid and waited until they left. They took you with ease but your parents tried to fight. The men wouldn't have it so they knocked them out and dragged them away. They did another sweep to see if there was anyone else but they didn't find me as I was hidden within the walls. They then left slamming the door behind them. I was alone. Those men were... Guards that worked for the governess and they wanted you for something but I didn't know what. From there I didn't see you for the next 12 years. I never forgave myself for letting them take you."

I look at Cormac realizing how they had truly blocked my memories because I did not remember what he was talking about

"If what you say is true then I am sorry but I don't remember it at least not at this point in time"

Cormac looks at me for a moment then at the others, before turning his attention back towards me

"Cyra as we know they blocked your memories, they didn't want you to remember what happened but they gave you false memories in patches to make it seem like there isn't a chunk missing. Do you remember anything from a very young age?

I look at him and sigh

"No there's nothing except for the few things I saw while asleep for the past few days. The biggest one being my old friend Magnus, the one who helped me leave that place.

Cormac looks at me with a smile.

"He did what he had to do. I'm happy to hear that, and will talk more about that soon right now though we should start the tapes, they will help unveil more from our past."

I tilt my head when he says our past, it didn't make much sense but I shrugged it off as the video came up. A title upon it saying

Tape one. Month one. The good news.

The screen began to glow as a male's face appeared smiling. He had long dirty blonde hair and he was fixing the camera before stepping back.

"We're rolling, " he says as he goes behind the camera and points it at a female with long blonde hair pushing a little boy on a swing. He giggled as the woman, presumably his mother looked up

The mother speaks quickly

"Hey everyone. Today we were off at a picnic with little Cormac here and the Astros family with some really good news" she says with a smile as she stops the swing and picks up the baby. She walks over to a blanket where a light brown haired male and a chestnut haired woman sat. they looked so happy as the woman sat down. The male's voice from earlier calls out

"Hey guys let us know the good news. I know the family back home will be so happy to hear it."

The light brown haired male looked up at the camera with silver eyes as he let out a chuckle

"I Know your excited guys but I will let my beautiful wife Athena tell the news"

The chestnut haired woman smiled softly and kissed her husband before looking at the camera. It zoomed in a bit on her face as she pushed a piece of hair behind her ear then she looked up.

"I know this is a happy moment so let me just spill it. Me and Carter are pregnant!"

The blonde woman jumps up and screams

"Oh my God this is wonderful. I am so happy for you guys" she says before pulling them into a hug then moving back for a moment

"Also not to steal your thunder guys but me and William here have another one to be coming on the way."

Athena smiles and wraps her in a hug

"Congratulations guys were so happy for you"

They all look over to the screen and William comes from behind the camera and picks up Cormac then forms a group hug before turning back to look at the screen then shuts it off.

As the video ended I looked over at Cormac

"That was you but as a little"

Cormac lets out a chuckle

"Yes but that's not the point here. Those two there were your real parents. And mine."

"That can't be real though they don't have the sam- wait"

Cormac looks at me.

"Exactly. Jonz was your cover name, used so others would not find you as easily, for many Cyra Astro died on the day of the attack on the felicity homestead."

Shock fills me as I look at him

"Wait what, so i'm technically dead right now to others?"

Cormac nods his head as Raylee chimes in

"And you wonder why we've called you the lost princess all this time."

"There is more, let's continue watching." Cormac says

I lean back in my chair, my hands holding my knees.

Tape 2 video 2. Another bunker day.

The clip opens up to a darker room. Within sat the parents from the last video, this time though it wasn't as happy and carefree as before. This time they looked more solem, almost worried.. The happy glow from before did not show as much but both mothers stomachs had become bigger.William looked at the camera and spoke.

"It's been 5 days since the bombings began again just north of here towards the water. We were lucky enough to get below ground in a bunker before the militia came into check on residence and to make sure nobody was hurt. The enemy has dropped on our territory and we don't know how long it will be until the gunfire stops. But for now we are safe. He says turning the camera to everyone, suddenly they see a young girl sitting on the end of a bed with her knees curled up to her chest. She looked to be around ten and had tears in her eyes. Carter rests a reassuring hand on her shoulder and hugs her before looking at the camera.This is one of our cousins. We saved her from her hiding place in her home where my brother and his wife have been killed. She was the only survivor." He said with a saddened tone. William then turns off the camera leaving the screen blank.

I look at them and think that I once had a cousin. For all I knew she was dead but maybe she still was still alive to this day, thinking of that gave me slight hope that maybe im not as alone as I think I am sometimes. I was lost in my thoughts before the screen came back up with another video.

Tape 10. Video 10. A happy day for the gender reveal.

The video opens up to a bright fall day. The four were in what looked to be a living room in a house. William again set the camera up, he must've been the more tech savvy of the group and the rest as well though didn't seem to mind. William walked over and puts a hand over his wife's shoulders as baby Cormac sat in front of them playing with a little toy giggling. William looks at the camera with a slight smile then speaks

"Hey guys, it's me and Louise here again with Cormac and the Astro's. We've gone to the doctors today and have learnt some wonderful news. Today we learned the gender of both ours and the Astro's babies."

He looks over at Athena and Carter.

"You guys can go first and follow after as this is your first born."

Athena and Carter smile softly as they look to the camera and wave.

"Hey there guys it's been a rough few months but we're getting through it. We are happy to announce that we are soon to have a daughter. Her name will be Cyra. Cyra Astro. We are so happy and can't wait to meet her in a few months."

They say with a soft smile. The lighting was a little dim but it still worked out well enough to see them. The Brightley family looked happy to as they clapped then hugged the Astro's before looking back at the camera

"We are happy to announce we also are going to be having a daughter. Cormac here is going to be a big brother isn't that right sweetie."

Louise says before picking up Cormac and bouncing him on her lap. He giggled again as he looked around.

"You're going to have a little sister named Evie," says William.

Suddenly a loud bang was heard somewhere off screen and everyone jumped. Carter looked frantic as he stood up with Athena behind him. William did the same and Louise tried soothing now a crying Cormac and tried to muffle the noise.

"Fuck there hear again. William grabs the camera and the guns we need to get to the hideout and fast before they break the doors down. Go now."

William nods and looks to the camera before grabbing it and abruptly turning it off.

Fear and concern washes over me. I look over at Cormac who had his face looking down towards the floor and his fists clenching. I try to reach out to touch his shoulder to try and comfort him and he shrugs me off. I let in a sharp breath and retract my hand placing it in my lap and look back at the screen. A tear slightly glistened in the side of her eye.

Before the video started Cormac stood up and spoke under his breath.

"I can't watch this."

I look at him as he begins to leave. I go to reach and grab him but Raylee stops me and shakes her head.

"No, let him go, this is very hard for him."

I drop my hand back down and listen as the door slams behind him before turning my attention back towards the screen.

Tape 13. Video 13. Darker Days.

The video comes up in a small living room. Athena laid on the couch with Cormac looking rather sad and lonesome. Cormac had a book in his hands but his face looked lost and confused. At a table sat William. Carter came from behind the camera and sat across from William at the table. They had coffee and looked to be in rough shape. Their faces looked dark and tired like they hadn't slept in weeks. William had not looked up from his drink until Carter began to speak in a soft tone

"William, there was nothing more we could do. It was too late. She's gone."

At that moment William snapped.

"No we didn't do the best we could. She was right there I could've saved her, she had a baby Carter! Don't you understand I failed as a man. I failed as a husband! She deserved to live. Why take her and not me instead! She bore a child! We could've been happy!"

he says with tears in his eyes.

Athena had by this time picked Cormac up and left to another room and closed the door.

Carter stood up and went to William and grabbed him by the shirt and got in his face.

"You listen here and you listen well William. You're my right hand man. You're better than most people out there in this god forsaken world alright. Stop putting so much negativity on yourself. We did the best we could but there were too many of them and we couldn't save everybody. I know she loves you and that baby would have loved you so much too and I know they wouldn't want to see you going through so much pain right now. It's going to be okay." says Carter.

Williams' body shook a bit as he looked down and a tear fell.

"she was my true love and that was my baby girl. My only baby girl."

He says. Carter looks at him then pulls him into a hug.

"It's okay. We will get through this together. Think of your son, he loves you very much. He wouldn't want to see anything happen to you either. Also were here for you no matter what and I promise you this William. I promise."

William nods then hears the little pitter patter of feet then looks to see Cormac running to him. He looked at Cormac then kneeled down wrapping him in his arms and holding onto him tightly then looked at Carter.

"I can do this. And I will do this for my son." He says holding him.

Athena comes out and looks at them for a moment before turning and picking the camera up and heading away for a moment and sitting down. She looks into the camera. With a sniffle she pushes a piece of hair behind her ear then begins to speak.

"hey sweetheart. It's mommy here. You don't know me yet but soon you will. I'm your mother, Athena. I've been taking care of Cormac since the incident and he is a strong boy. I think you guys will get along so well once you're here. So much has happened and we don't know what lies around each corner to come. But I wanted to take this time to try and explain what I can to you before my time is up.Your name Is Cyra Astro daughter to Carter and Athena Astro. Our bloodline keeps dwindling in numbers but you have more power then you truly know. We've been protecting you and ourselves from the enemy mafia. They have been hunting us down and want our bloodline gone as of the power we hold and our wealth. We have lived in a war torn society for years and are beginning to catch up.

Just a few days ago on Cormac's third birthday they tried to attack again but there were only about five of them. Your dad and William got rid of them but then we were moved again. We have been on the run now for who knows how long and we don't think it's going to stop. We've recently lost one of us and it's been hard on everyone but I want you to know you are already loved. Just like little Cormac is to. In the future he will protect you and you will protect him. You probably don't understand much of this right now and you are probably confused as well. I want to explain more to you and will over the next few tapes that are to be made. Hopefully these tapes will be found by you and not end up in the hands of the guardsman or someone worse. These tapes will be well hidden, I just hope you can get to them in time before it's too late. But my darling the batteries are running low on this camera, more will be explained soon enough. I love you baby and daddy does too. Goodbye for now though" she says then ends it with a kiss and a soft wave, then the screen goes black.

I couldn't breathe during that tape. Tears began to fall down my face as my hands shook as I looked at the blank screen I understood now why he left. As I look I hear an unfamiliar voice come from behind me

"This is why we don't get between Cor and his family, it never ends well."

I looked behind me but couldn't figure out where it came from. I turn back as the screen lights up again

Tape 30 video 30. Final goodbyes.

The video opened up to Athena's face. Her hair was matted and greasy and tears fell on her cheeks. A baby could be heard crying just off screen and you could see the top of Cormacs head. Two unknown voices could be heard off-screen and bullets off in the distance quickly getting closer.

"Athena, Carter, William, what do you want us to do?"

An unknown males voice says. Athena looks at them quickly then hands them the baby and touches Cormacs shoulder.

"Take the kids now get them out of here and to safety. There's a hidden exit just behind that wall. Take them and protect them with your lives. Let no harm come to them. Please. Give them the life we never could"

William comes into view

I already have a family that will take Cormac in and protect him as well but your job is to get him to them. Let no harm come to my son. Here is the address"

He says handing him a piece of paper. Athena hands cyra over to the man and Cormac as well. He hits a couple buttons on a wall which opens it to a secret passageway. As they go in they let the wall close behind him. The camera looks back to Athena in bed and she looks at it, her eyes puffy.

"Hey again baby. I don't have much to say as I have no time left sweetheart. But you and Cormac are in good hands. You will be taken care of by people both me your father and William have entrusted. I'm sorry we couldn't be better parents sweetheart, but you will be safe. They will change your name and care for you like your own. I know they will. They will love you just like we would have. By the way, remember this necklace. It's locked away underground in our archive library. This has been the first and last place we will ever be. The door is hidden in the floorboards beneath the closet. Go there if you get these messages. Our family's history resides there and within this necklace is the key. Not even an advanced level hacker can get into this as its part of our family bloodline. I wish we could see you grow up but destiny chose a different path for us. But we want both you and Cormac to know we love you forever and always Cyra. Goodbye."

The camera falls in Athena's lap and turns facing both Carter and William who were now arming themselves with weapons before Carter spoke.

"William this is our last ditch effort to make sure those kids and dom get out of here safely. You will guard the exit way that they have taken and I will head up front. This is our last chance to do what is right and to give those kids the chance at life that they deserve. Like I said, I'm with you until the end. Now let's blow some bastards heads off. It's been a pleasure working with you, Brother."

William nods as he cocks his gun and puts a hand on Carter's shoulder.

"Pleasures all mine boss. What about Athena though. What will she do? She can't move after just giving birth."

Carter looks at him

"She will be okay she has a small handgun always on her for if anything like this were to happen. Now I don't know how many will be coming through that door but it is our duty to kill as many as we can. Understood"

William nods

"Loud and clear boss. But before I do we need to hide that camera."

He says as he grabs the camera and throws it inside the closet forgetting to turn it off. He throws it in then the sound of a door slamming open can be heard then gunshots. Then a little girl comes into focus on the screen. Long black hair fell down her back as tears streamed down her face and she covered her mouth trying not to scream. She turns her back to the door and shakes as the last 3 bullets reign out. Silence then falls but only for a moment till a low males voice sounded through the room

"Search everything. Turn this room upside down for all I care. Find that chip and the family documents. They must be burned. No more will people hear of the high Astro bloodline."

With that strong male footsteps could be heard throughout the room. Things were tossed and thrown till suddenly they heard them coming towards the closet, the little girl shook in fear then the closet door was ripped open and behind her stood a man in a maroon suit and hat. Her eyes widened as her shoulders were then grabbed and she was ripped from the closet screaming, taken against her will. He handed her off to one of his members then kneeled down picking the camera up. He turns it and looks into the camera with piercing blue eyes, black hair and a beard. A scar ran across his one eye causing the veins to pop out more within the white of his eyeball. He then smirks before crushing the camera causing the screen to go staticy then black.

I stared at the blank screen with tears in my eyes. Everyone was still silent within the room and I felt broken. My hands now shook and clenched as tears fell. I look over at Sona and Raylee. I try to speak but couldn't I try to contain myself but I couldn't tears streamed down my face before I spoke out

"I had parents. Real loving parents that would do anything for me. They lost their lives protecting us. They didn't want anything to happen to us. It's my fault they're dead. If it wasn't for me they would still be alive" Cyra spills her words out shaking and Raylee grabs her

"It wasn't your fault. It was their choice. They wanted to save you. They knew you would be the key. They knew you were special."

She says. You can hear a slight crack in her voice as he speaks.

"Also you are not the only one who has lost family here. Many of our parents are gone too. They as well sacrificed their lives for us. All we have left is each other. I have something else I need to tell you as well. This group is filled with people who others have seen great potential in and we need to change this wretched place before it's too late.. We all have one thing I know in common. We've all suffered losses. Just like the one tape Molly found But this one is directed to Cormac.. He won't watch it again but it has to be shown. Joel, prepare the tape."

Joel nods and Raylee returns back to her seat

"There must be a reason he wants me to watch it." I think to myself as the screen comes back on one final time. I was still upset and anger boiled below my surface as i return to the screen one final time.

To my son.

The video comes up on Louise's face. Her hair was matted and her face had dried blood on it. Tears fell down her eyes as she sat against a wall. She looks at the camera then down for a moment. She takes a deep breath before speaking to the camera.

"Hey son, mama hear. As you can probably tell i'm not in good shape at the moment. It's dark and cold here. I don't have much time and I've been hiding this camera since they took me. It has been a few weeks and I'm getting close to the end. But at least your safe dear. I know dad will take good care of you and protect you. I'm sorry that I haven't been much of a mother but I wanted to tell you a few things before I'm gone. You my dear, you're a strong boy. Your father is proud of you just like I am and we know you will do good in your life. Us Brightleys have something unique in our blood that nobody else really has. You and Cyra will be taken somewhere in time to live a safer life then you would have out here in the outside world. Many gangs roam the streets and spread far and wide throughout the world. Many people still live underground in fear of these recluse groups. You will be taken to an underground city where you can live a more peaceful life then you would here on the surface. I'm sorry we couldn't do any better but this is the best we can do to give you a chance in life."

Suddenly her head snaps upwards and loud footsteps can be heard coming towards her. She squirms back then looks at the camera one more time.

"My time is up dear I must go now. I wish things never had to be this way for you or for the baby. But now it's too late. I've been taken by the enemy mafia named El Doro. there the main enemy against your father and Carters gang the Felicity. El Doro is made up of corrupt humans. They destroy families for riches and murder for the plain fun of it. They take men and turn them into ruthless beings and use woman for sex to increase there armada through corrupting children from the time they can walk. Their leader is a man by the name of Ufuk. A ruthless man who has been said to kill even his own men if they upset him. To date he has killed almost 300 of them and we know he wont stop there. He is my captor and I'm not sure how much more I will take. I want you to know I love you sweetie and I give you permission that if you ever come into contact with this fucker I give you permission to kill him at any costs, his reign needs to be stop-"

She is cut off by the sound of an ironwood door opening and light spills on her causing her eyes to squint. She looks at the camera one last time and mouths the words 'I love you, goodbye. Before she throws the camera. You can hear her scream off camera

"Fuck you assholes you won't take me alive!" as you hear the cock of a gun and a man shouts

"Sedate her now! She's got a gun! Stop her the general wants her baby as she is a prized jewel"

"I I sir" you hear then her yell

"No!" she began thrashing but soon the sounds of punches and kicks began to seize.

"She's asleep now officer. What do you want done with her?"

"Take her to the medical office and get her under surveillance . The general leader has plans for her and that child."

"Right away sir."

Is the last thing said before one of the men walked off. The other stood there for a minute looking around the room then noticing the camera. He picks it up and looks at it.

"We will put this in archives" he says, closing the camera, shutting it off and causing the screen to go black.

"They took Athena. They ruined her. What the fuck did they do to them. I can clearly see why Cormac can't watch this. Those sick fucks if they hurt her I don't know what I'd do" she screams.

Everyone's turns and looks at her and raylee looks at her

"Cyra calm down"

Cyra shoots a glare towards Raylee

"Calm down. CALM DOWN! I cant calm down Raylee I can't aarrgghh"

I say before my veins flared silver and metal came out of my hands throwing it into the screen causing it to rip in half. I look at what I just did and around at the others who looked shocked at what I just did. I then begin to shake before sitting down on the step with my knees pulled up to my face.

"First my parents and Cormacs dad. Then his mother and the baby. They could've been happy . We could've been happy."

I say shaking.

Everyone gathers around me while Joel and Sona hug me trying to calm my nerves.

"You can get through this you got us. We will always have eachothers back.

As the others worked together Cormac had left the building with a bag on a motor cycle and headed to the Governesses head quarters. Once he got there he was let in due to being a retired guard with ease. He went straight to the governesses office. As he entered he looked at the raven haired women sitting behind the desk and spoke.

"Aria. I am leaving outside the walls for a few days, need to clear my head and continue the search for my old partner."

Aria was looking at a book and sighs as she puts it down. Bright hazel eyes shot a menacing look towards Cormac.

"Cormac darling we've been over this many times before, you dear old friend is dead stop looking for him you'll be lucky if you even find an old pile of bones. It's useless stop wasting your time already."

She says playing with a pen between her fingers.

He shakes his head.

"Nothing I have ever done is a waste of time, you know that. Just let me be on my way alright, I don't care what I find, I just need closure."

Aria sighs and crosses her arms looking at him. She signs something and stands up, she walks over towards Cormac

"Fine, go on, I give you five days, no more. Just don't forget how important you are."

He shakes his head.

"I am not someone who should be important to you."

He says as he turns to walk out. Before he does he turns and looks at her.

"Also aria you must remember something to, remember who you truly are because this is not you."

Aria rolls her eyes

"You may not want to accept it but this is who I am a product of this damn world. Now go before I change my mind."

With that Cormac leaves.

Aria stood there for a moment, arms crossed over her chest before turning back to her desk. She picks up an old locket and looks at the photo. There were four in it but three of them she could never make out. She closes the locket in her fist and walks over to the large windows behind her desk. She looks out over the city watching lights turn on as night sets in.
