The World Change (3)

I walk back slowly. What's that? Those things are like a dog but more furious and vicious with those red eyes.

At the speed of lightning, one of them appeared in front of me and bit my leg.

"Awww!!!!"

Fall down, I grab my hammer from my back and hit it strongly.

Pant* pant*

Grrr...

I crouch back slowly. They notice it and come to me. I swing my hammer to prevent them from attacking me. My leg is bleeding. It's really hurt! Really!

Keep swinging it Alex!, the police station is nearby.

I hit something behind me. That's... Keep calm... Keep calm... It's not like you didn't encounter a dead body. You already encountered it after Stephanie's dad's death. You already know how it feels so, don't be scared. But...

Sorry, for this idea. I pick up one of its bones and throw it away. They respond to it!

They catch it even before that bone lands on the ground. But, I didn't throw it high.

I stand up and go inside the police station. Unfortunately, there is no gunshop near here. So, this is the last place where I will get a gun. And yeah, this Thompson is perfect. There are some bullets too. I will bring it later but for now. This is enough. Sorry, Mr. Police, I use your bone to save my life.

I reload the gun and ready for the battle. But, how is it used again? This is the first time I have used the real one. I love FPS but not in real life. Sigh* I hope this gun has the same function as the cutscene game.

I walk outside but, my leg hurt. Is it because of my adrenaline that this pain was suppressed a bit before? Don't think about it any further. My objection is not killing that monster but going home. My family are waiting.

I step slowly and take the hazmat suit I dropped behind from falling before.

"Mmmhh.."

Reflex, I cover my mouth. That's so gross!! Oh my god!! Don't look at it, don't look at it. Slowly...

Take back my hazmat and go.

Fortunately, they didn't notice my presence and kept eating that body. I thought it would be challenging but, this is too much. It's a disaster. Even though risking my life is like my normal life, this is far from that. 

Nuclear bomb, radiation, my family in danger, all people's deaths, and now a monster. Or... Do those things get mutated? I often look at movies. Like Zilla and Hulk, they are monsters because of radiation. The one is from Atom Bomb and the one from Gamma Radiation. Are those things the same as those in the movie?

I look behind. Sigh* Now is safe for me to run. But before that, I changed my hazmat suit. It has a hole because of its fang. After covering my wound with my clothes and changing my suit, I am going back to my home.

Fast... My family are waiting...

After I open the fabric that covers my basement, I look at my wife and hug Lily. She noticed me.

"Darling!"

Lily looked at me and I smiled. I asked them to wear these two suits in my hand.

"I can't see anything!" Said Lily after wearing it.

The size is too big for her. But, this is for her safety. I open my arm and she approaches me.

My wife noticed it and asked her instead to carry her.

"It's heavy..." Said her with a sulking voice.

My wife laughed a bit and said. "It's for your safety honey." Said her.

Great, she is smiling now. Now what? Food for two months, electricity for one year, many tools... Ah! Those bullets. And I still need those hazmats for the future.

L-let's do it tomorrow. For now, I want to be healed first.

We... I don't know if this is my daily life now but, I feel that this will be our new daily life. Wandering around inside this basement, trying to lift the refrigerator but... After I looked up by climbing this mountain, our house was ruined so badly. There is nothing more. But, there are still clothes and some tools that can be used for us. Like a knife, my hunter sniper from my worker, compass, and handphone. Unfortunately, the internet is shut down because of this war.

But, there is still a radio application in here. I hope it will well-functioning. From now on, I should gather food and some tools to upgrade our chances of living. After I carried the stove with my wife's help to the basement, we eat the food I stored in basement.

"Hey, darling... Is there anyone living out there?" Said her worried.

"Sigh* Please, don't worsen the mood. We still eating." Said me.

But it's normal. The world is destroyed and it's just me who can explore this area. It's not like my wife can't but, judging from her body, it not well-trained like me.

After eating, my wife played with my daughter. Even without anything to do, they still look happy. And from that, I feel happy too.

I walk near my wife and whisper to her. "I will tell you after Lily sleeps." Said me referring to her previous question.

She nods at me and smiles. I smile back and rest a bit.

Those things make me feel tired. Let me sleep for a bit.

"Darling!"

I wake up. "What's happened?" Asked me shocked after she shouted at me like that.

With her trembling hand, she pointed to the dog monster from before. There are five of them. They seem to sniff around.

Are they sniffing my blood? Dog nose is better than human and that's why they are used by police to catch the criminal out there.

I can just hit them with my sniper but, what about their speed? Their speed is like lightning, at my blink, it will appear near me.

Maybe my wife is good but not for my daughter... Nah, they are both not good at this. And so I am too.

"Calm, I will distract them." Said me with a serious look.

The good thing for me is, that this is a night day. Yeah, It will make my vision unclear but, the same as them... It's not like that...

There is still a chance that they can look at me clearly like in the daytime. Their eyes are red-lighted. It shines so furiously and makes me feel scared.

Gulp* Is it okay for me? It will be safe, right? Thinking about that makes me brave down.

"Please, come back." Said her worried about me.

"Yeah, I will."

This windy night is good today. Don't know why, her words give me a little brave. I get down and climb up to my ruined house.

Set my sniper and target them.

Take a deep breath. My family is in danger. Now, is my time to shine... What if I missed it?

I still have my knife. What if they are too fast for me? I still have this suit... What if...?

It make me scared again. My hand trembling, I can't shoot them like this. Take a deep breath Alex, and feel the atmosphere, you once loved this situation right? So what's the difference if the difficulty is higher a bit?

I take my eyes off the scope and grab my sniper strongly. That's the head.

I start to run down the sewer.

Crap!! One of them pushed me down and made me fall.

One of them bit me and it ripped my suit again! I swing my knife to it and it steps back from me. I can't!!

I can't walk behind without looking!! I bet those dogs will push or bite me at the time I look behind. I decided to run again.

Hopefully, this will work...

I get pushed again. My knife... I stand up again and run. Those five dogs at once jumped at me but, it's fine... The sewer it's nearby. And then... I get inside it.

Their reflex is fast, they quickly step back and avoid the water. I try to splash it but they still can avoid it well enough.

What now? They can't touch me neither do I can't. If... If just there is a gun. I look up, my wife waving her hand with the Thompson I brought before. She will throw it to me but... She will be the next target.

What should I do? She will throw it.

She threw it, the dog looked at my wife. At that second I screamed to draw their attention to me. It worked!!

The Thompson lands well to me. I smiled a bit. Stephanie, you should enter the throw competition once. I know you will be the Blackhorse.

I targeted one of them and it wounded! Yes!! Finally!!

Taste my revenge you beast!!

One, two, three, four... But, the last one ran away and got scared.
