Speed and Abbey

I did it, I activated my power at will, sort of. After a long rest, I get up ready to perform that same stunt.

Fall, activate power, teleport, repeat. For the next hour, I repeated jumping off the tower and teleporting to the top. Over and over again with a break in between every jump. The first 10 jumps I saw no difference, I got very close to hitting the ground each time. After my 20th attempt, I saw that I was able to activate my power just a little sooner and the ground seemed a tab bit further. And after my 50th jump, I saw drastic improvements.

Spending the whole day I've worn myself out, I must've jumped off that tower hundreds of times. Thinking about it, the only one crazy enough to do this would be me. Laughing, I begin to make a small fire atop the tower. Roasting mushrooms and meat, I feasted that night.

The next day I did the same regiment, but with fewer breaks in between. Gradually I was able to activate my power sooner and sooner.

On the third day, I was able to trigger my power before I left the ledge.

After the 4th day, I felt that I did enough practice and wanted to continue the Old Man's quest. In reality, I was running low on food. Knowing where the lynel was, I decided to go to the unnamed forest surrounding the Old Man's house instead.

Descending the tower I caught a whiff of myself, reeking of sweat and grime I decided I needed a bath. Using the map feature I located the closest stream. Taking a stance I prepare myself. Picking up a nearby pebble I let it drop, the pebble fell in slow motion. Feeling my sense of accomplishment I ran at full speed towards the stream.

In a few minutes, I was able to see a glimpse of it, but before I got there I collapsed from exhaustion.

"I forgot about my stamina gauge" (Link)

I learned something, if my power is in use and my stamina gauge reaches zero I lose all body functions and collapse.

Laying on the soft grass all I could do was watch the clouds. Seeing that my stamina gauge recharged I got up and ran at full speed again, luckily the stream wasn't very far so I used less than a 5th of my stamina.

The stream was crystal clear, I checked to see if any chuchus lurked near. Seeing none I removed my clothes. Washing the dirt and grime off I felt like a new person. Once I was finished I was going to retrieve my clothes when something caught my attention. A fairy, it looked like a small orb with wings! Excited, I didn't bother to cloth myself. In an instant, I captured the fairy and put it in the Sheikah Slate.

That was a lucky find, fairies can revive a person if their health points reach zero. It's rare to see one, usually they appear around the great fairy fountains or atop the Great Deku Tree.

Putting on my clothes I reached the outskirts of the forest surrounding the Old Man's house, this forest was less dense than the Forest of Spirits. The trees were also a different species. Various acorns and nuts littered the floor attracting birds and squirrels.

Spending the next few minutes gathering I amassed quite the number in the Sheikah Slate.

Sitting down under the shade of a tree I use the flat part of my ax to crack open a few nuts. They were crunchy and bland, better as a snack than a food source. The squirrels and birds moving about looked tastier, using my power I was able to kill 10 of each. Gratefully in this game-like world, I don't have the hassle of gutting or skinning the animals.

Finishing a roasted bird thigh I got up and started stretching, I've gotten used to activating my power but I haven't done a lot of moving with it. The next closest shrine was the Ja Baij Shrine, on the map it looked like it was located in the ruins of an Abbey. Keeping an eye on my stamina gauge while running I made sure not to overexert myself. The shrine was a fair distance away so I took occasional breaks along the way. I managed my stamina gauge so I wouldn't collapse this time.

Getting in will be a little tricky, in the game the area was dotted with decayed guardians. Hugging the wall I tread through the maze-like ruin.

Turning right I encounter a trio of blue bokoblins, with my power tamed I shouldn't have a problem anymore. Readying myself I let them have the first strike, with the tight corridors they could only attack one at a time. The bokoblin swung their usual club, doing a backflip, I avoided being struck. Activating my power I rushed in, killing it before it even knew what happened. Replacing its comrade another one raised its club and swang down with all its might. Using my shield I was able to parry the attack, stunning it I use this moment to end it.

One more.

Seeing its buddies die it tried to run away. Af if I was going to let that happen. Wanting to test Magnesis in combat I target my sword, bringing my arm back I threw the sword while in super-speed. Traveling faster than an arrow I hit my mark and the bokoblin died.

With a large grin, I let out a loud shout. Immediately I covered my mouth, realizing what I've done. I could hear footsteps all around trying to converge on my location.

"Sigh, why am I such an idiot?" (Link)

I climbed the wall hoping to avoid the mob of monsters coming, but then I saw a red dot on my chest. It looked like a laser sight from a gun, LASER! Jumping down from the wall I looked up to see a blue laser fired at my previous spot. That was a close one, unable to climb the walls I marched on.

Bokoblin after bokoblin, they never seemed to end. Coming in groups of 3 or more I encountered them every corner. I even saw some black variants mixed in. The biggest group was a band of 7, eventually, my broadsword shattered from the constant battles resulting in my switch to the claymore. Though they were easy to dispatch it was a cumbersome task.

Mowing my way through I came to a clearing, that's when I saw it, a guardian. It had a cylindrical shaped head with a round body, being embedded into the ground it couldn't move. Facing the opposite direction it didn't notice me. Having a brilliant idea I whistle to get its attention, seeing me with its only eye it begins to charge up. With my shield out I wait for the shot, "pew" it fired. Using my power I was able to precede time slower, parrying I was able to deflect the shot back into its eye. Its health points dropped to zero, it started its self destruct sequence. Learning from my previous battle I hid behind a wall where the blast couldn't hit me. Picking up the scraps I acquired more screws and gears and well as some shafts and springs.

Making sure to celebrate quietly I make it to the middle of the Abbey ruin where the shrine was located.
