--- Chapter 27 ---
Dawn hit the Hobemi Village.
Sun slowly rose to the sky, warming the nearly-destroyed village.
Sizzling sounds of the demonic remains burned away reverberated, and everyone watched as the ash particles flew off on the chilly yet warm morning day.
Soon, all the remains of demons cease to exist.
The might of the sun is immense and sacred.
Far away, Tenma watched the sunrise with a faint smile. After killing the high-level demon, Tenma retreated into the shadows and returned to the Nobleman Kuri's house.
He stole-! Wait, that doesn't sound right.
He picked.
Yes! He picked everything that Nobleman Kuri left behind and even found more evidence of his dirty work with Rokan. He handed that evidence to Kanae while keeping the wealth to himself.
Tenma found money, bank notes, gold, treasured medicine, and rare weapons from the olden era.
He thanked Nobleman Kuri for these genuine donations.
Looking at his brimming inventory, Tenma couldn't help but lick his lips at the prospect of killing more corrupt and evil people, especially Muzan.
Muzan is wealthy, no? Hehehe~!
However, the biggest harvest of the night is actually Good Karma.
Tenma gained exactly 126,900 Good Karma tonight.
He also obtained 1,500 Bad Karma for destroying some houses in the Hobemi Village, but Good Karma outweighed it.
With this new Good Karma, Tenma has 169,500 Good Karma in his savings and was thinking of exchanging good stuff with his Karmic Exchange.
Rare ability?
Rare item?
Suitable bloodline to merge with?
Tenma's choices are endless.
Tenma sighed in relief, feeling all this hassle was worth it.
"I avenged my homie, his wife, and Eri."
"Then, I killed some trash and demons."
"What a great night."
Sunlight hit Tenma, making him feel rejuvenated. Star Force Manual absorbed the solar force and accelerated his healing factor.
"Tenma, we are done here." Kanae returned with Shinobu.
"We can return home."
Shinobu stretched her body, "I need a warm dip after this."
"Hehe, I also want to sleep." Tenma chuckled, feeling sleepy. He could have ended the battle faster by using Sharingan, but that won't allow him to improve.
He has seen many talented Otsutsuki led astray by their innate Dojutsu, perishing before reaching their peaks. Kama can save them, but they would repeat the same mistakes for the second, third, and forever.
Last night, Tenma confirmed that 'unique' skills could grow in an intense battle. Spear Potential and Martial Spirit most likely break this world's balance with enough advancement.
Squish!
All of a sudden, two soft peaks pressed against Tenma's face.
Tenma's eyes widened as Kanae hugged him tightly, making him feel her floral scent and comfortable, warm body.
"Good job, Tenma-kun."
"You're doing such a good job last night."
"Nee-chan is proud of you!" Kanae whispered, looking him straight in the eyes.
Tenma laughed, "Stop it, Nee-chan. You're going to make me blush with such praise."
Kanae smiled and tapped his forehead lovingly, "No, you deserve this. I don't think the Demon Slayers Corps has a record of a six-year-old boy killing a high-level demon."
"You're the first, Tenma-kun."
"As long as you grow up, you might be able to eradicate demons from this country..." Kanae wanted to say he could eradicate demons from the world but decided not to.
She doesn't want to set Tenma's goal to an unrealistic height.
She sighed and returned to her stern self, "But don't get too complacent."
"You're still too young."
"The world is full of dangers, so I don't want you to roam outside until you have the power of Hashira!"
"Sister, isn't that too much?" Shinobu felt like Tenma-sama's power had exceeded those so-called geniuses in the Demon Slayers Corps.
"No, Nee-chan is right, Shinobu." Tanma shook his head gently. He agreed with Kanae.
Tenma has gone outside Wakami Village twice in the Simulation, and both scenarios ended horribly.
In the 1st Simulation, both Kanae and Shinobu died one after another at the hands of Muzan.
In the 2nd Simulation, Kanae died after being eaten by Upper-Moon Two, Douma.
He experimented by teaching Shinobu Tao and realized he was the reason behind their deaths. Every subtle change he made molded the result.
They fell into danger when being with him without failure.
However, if Tenma didn't go out, nothing would happen.
There is only one meaning.
His mere presence changed their destiny!
So, Tenma has decided to stay lowkey for a year or two to consolidate his power. At the very least, Tenma wanted to be strong enough to contend against Muzan and his cronies.
"I will stay in the Wakami Village for a while."
Shinobu sighed helplessly, "But the people in the Hobemi Village already knew about your existence..."
"They would never make a connection between the masked spearman and you, as everyone with the right mind would never think a six-year-old could be so developed and powerful. It is simply illogical. But they can make a connection between my older sister and you."
"I can play dumb and tell the headquarters that Tenma was a Wandering Ronin," Kanae interjected calmly. "But this will not last..."
"With their interest, they would try to look for this 'Wandering Ronin' and hope he could join the Demon Slayer Corps."
"You know just how demanding higher-ups were."
"Uugh, those Elders..." Shinobu was annoyed. Although her responsibility as a Demon Slayer wasn't as severe as Kanae's, she couldn't refuse the order from the higher-ups.
Of course, Shinobu won't do any mission unrelated to killing demons.
"That would do. A few years should be enough." Tenma grinned at them.
"Nee-chan, when I join Demon Slayers in the future, I might have to cheat the system."
"What do you mean?" Kanae tilted her head.
"Yeah, what do you mean?" Shinobu crossed his arms.
Tenma chuckled, waving his hand and telling them to get closer.
The Kocho Sisters leaned in, hearing Tenma's plan.
After a while, their eyes widened because of his cautiousness.
"This might work..." Shinobu mumbled in awe.
"Right?" Tenma winked at her.
Kanae giggled in amusement, "Yeah, it will work wonderfully. I think we can start by introducing you to my other students."
"You have another student?" Tenma gave her a wronged look.
"Okay, okay, don't give me that look... The person I will introduce you to is a girl two years younger than Shinobu. She hasn't joined the Demon Slayer Corps but has stayed in my Butterfly Mansion for a few years."
"Although she wasn't on your level, her strength and intelligence is a 'genius' level."
"Ah, that girl..." Shinobu finally gets what Kanae means. "Indeed, Tenma's plan would do fine with her collaboration."
Tenma shrugged casually, "Well, let's see what you have for a surprise."
They gave the Hobemi Village one last look before disappearing into the woods.
...
...
After returning home, Tenma dipped himself in warm water and slept like a log for a whole day. It concerned Tamako because she had never seen her son this tired.
Thankfully, Kanae and Shinobu were so quick to make a reason.
Kanae and Shinobu also slept as they were exhausted, hugging Tenma's left and right arm, respectively.
They didn't sleep for long, though.
Kanae only needs two to three hours before waking up and saying goodbye to everyone. She needed to report this matter as soon as possible.
With Kanae gone, Shinobu happily hogged Tenma's arm for herself, or so she thought.
At noon, Eri silently crawled to Kanae's position and hugged Tenma's left arm. She fell asleep like a cat, curling her body on him.
"..." Shinobu was speechless.
Tamako saw all this from the living room and shook her head. She also wanted to cuddle with Tenma.
The next day.
Tenma woke up with a refreshing sensation all over his body, especially his mind. He asked Tamako to make a warm drink and leaned on the wall in a daze.
Shinobu, Kanae, and Eri were nowhere to be seen.
He can't sense Kanae's presence, meaning she has gone to the Demon Slayer Corps.
As for Shinobu, she was giving Eri a lesson in the backyard.
Tenma yawned, "Let's check out my loot."
"Hmm, 2 Million Yen Bills, some bank notes, and 15 Kg of Pure Gold."
"Not bad, not bad."
Tenma pulled several boxes of rare medicines, starting from 100-year-old ginseng and other rare medicines like blood coral from the ocean and mutated Ganoderma from China.
Each medicine could stimulate physique metamorphosis.
Lastly, Tenma pulled three katanas from his inventory. They are rusty and have dull wooden sheaths.
Yet Tenma's Broken Blade Talent couldn't break them.
He tried, and the katana stayed the same.
No cracks or tears.
"This won't do... I need "Appraisal" or "Eyes of Insight" Skills to know what materials these katanas are made of."
"Tia. If I recall, I got something called a Mysterious Box from killing the high-level demon, right?"
[Oh, wow! You finally remembered that you have a system!]
[I must be dreaming]
[Tenma is so mindful!]
"..." Tenma stared at the system panel with a blank expression.
[Hmph!]
[Yes, you received a Mysterious Box]
[It is one of those random-type treasures you can open and get anything under the Goddess of Wisdom's permission]
"Even another system?" Tenma snorted at Hestia's sassiness.
[You...]
[Hmph, I don't care anymore!]
Tenma stayed silent, as well.
Three minutes later.
Tamako entered the room with herbal tea and snacks for Tenma.
"Here, Ma-kun. Enjoy them slowly, okay? You must be tired." She smiled at him warmly.
Tenma nodded but recalled something pretty quickly.
In the 1st Simulation, Tamako gifted him a lucky charm that increased his luck stats by 5. Even though 5 isn't a huge number, such an item is still rare and precious!
"Kaa-chan, can you make Lucky Charm for me?" Tenma asked seriously.
Tamako was puzzled, "Hmm, why do you need one, Ma-kun? Do you want to get out again?"
Tenma coughed awkwardly, "I-I just think your Lucky Charm is the best, and it might bless me to get stronger faster."
"You jest. Very well, Kaa-chan will make you the best Lucky Charm in the world." Tamako replied with a giggle, thinking Tenma was being childish again.
After Tamako was gone, Tenma drank the herbal tea and ate the snack peacefully.
He sighed and apologized, "I'm sorry, okay."
"I will chat with you more often from now on."
[...]
"Okay, okay, I also won't make a joke about another system, too."
"Hestia is the best system there is!"
[Apology Accepted]
"Let's open the Mysterious Box after Kaa-chan gives me the Lucky Charm."
[Mm…]
