Say What You Have To

Mei Chao Bing furrowed his brows when Song Mu refused to give up. While he was able to work together with him, that was only because he knew that it was necessary and that him refusing to do so would just endanger Yun Bei Fen and the others. These people had nothing to do with what had happened back then. How could he involve them in their problems and endanger their lives just because of that? He definitely couldn't bring himself to do that.

"Junior martial brother Song, there's still a lot to prepare for every one of us. Also, it is imperative that we rest early today so we'll be up to the long travel we'll need to do starting tomorrow. I think it would be best if you left now. Whatever you have to say, you might as well say it tomorrow on the way."

Song Mu continued to look at Mei Chao Bing, not turning to leave at all.

Mei Chao Bing frowned, not sure what else he should do. It wasn't like he wouldn't be able to throw him out by force if he wanted to. In fact, with his cultivation base, it would be an easy feat for him to do so. But he couldn't expose that.

While he had decided to be more honest with the others, that was mostly concerning the people he either trusted or felt like he might be able to trust. Somebody who had already broken his trust once certainly wasn't part of that group.

Furthermore, there were things that could be shared and things that couldn't. While exposing something he found or even the spiritual beast he had managed to contract with was one thing, his real cultivation base was another. If this came out, the rumors would be back in full force and there would be even more troubles going forward. It could even be that Elder Baili would have to reconsider the engagement between him and Yun Bei Fen. He definitely wouldn't risk that.

But since the option of throwing Song Mu out was off the table, he had no other way than to politely ask him to leave and hope that he would actually listen to him. Unfortunately, it didn't look like that.

Mei Chao Bing sighed and then crossed his arms. If this guy wanted to insist on talking, he might as well take off the gloves. "Song Mu, since you don't care about my opinion, what are you still waiting for? Just say it. I can't say I'm interested in hearing whatever it is but what else can I do? If I try to throw you out, I'm pretty sure we both know what would happen."

Song Mu lowered his gaze, his brows furrowing slightly. Yes, he could very well imagine what kind of rumor would spring up if Mei Chao Bing really did that. So, in a way, he was actually forcing him to listen. It wasn't what he wanted but what else could he do? Mei Chao Bing definitely wouldn't listen to him voluntarily. So he could only thicken his skin.

Song Mu finally sighed and looked up again, deciding that he should just go forward with it. "Well, in that case, I'll make it short: Yang Wu Huang will be very dissatisfied with how things turned out. I'm sure that you can already imagine but I just wanted to warn you that he will likely try to harm you."

Mei Chao Bing raised an eyebrow. "Are you actually badmouthing Yang Wu Huang in front of me right now?"

Song Mu kept quiet for a moment but then shook his head. "It isn't badmouthing if it's the truth. I'm just telling you as it is. You should also know that it's true. I just want us to be on the same page about this. If he does something, it would impact the whole group, not just you."

"So what you're worried about is your own skin. I should've expected that."

Song Mu didn't bother to respond to that. This wasn't what he had had in mind even though he probably should. Anyway, even if he said it, Mei Chao Bing would never believe it. He already had his opinion about him. It wasn't something that could be changed with a few words. In fact, it was questionable if it was something that could ever be changed again.

After a moment, Mei Chao Bing's gaze turned sharp. "Song Mu, you tell me one thing: About this matter with the array, did you know about that or didn't you?"

Song Mu didn't hesitate at all when he shook his head. "I didn't. You can be sure that if I had known about this beforehand, I would've stopped it. It was obvious how this would turn out. While I might not always make the right decisions, I am able to distinguish that this is definitely not the right thing to do. It cost lives. That is something we should always try to prevent. It is dangerous enough here. We certainly don't need to attack each other."

"Unfortunately, that won't be possible."

Once again, the two of them fell quiet. Mei Chao Bing didn't bother to explain any further and Song Mu didn't ask.

Yun Bei Fen looked from one person to the other, not understanding at all. He didn't dare to ask though. Right now, the tension in the room was high. It made him feel as if … It wouldn't be strange if the two of them started to fight in the next moment.

He had seen this kind of thing before in the competitions that were held in the Teng Yong Sect every now and then. Back then, he had somewhat understood why it happened. Right now, he wasn't too sure and it made him worry.

Feeling restless, he inched closer to Mei Chao Bing and grabbed onto his robe. Anyway, if they really came to blows, he was sure that Mei Chao Bing would win and also protect him. So there was nothing for him to worry about, right?
