Chapter 31 - Connection Again?!

"So, now all that we have to do is like say the terms of the contract?" asked Darius making sure.

He looked toward Ashe making sure that this was a real thing and she nodded which reassured him a little.

He knew that this wasn't some sort of trap at least.

"So, we talked about what you wanted which is for me to make it impossible for the academy to learn about your system's rank, but what do I want in exchange?"

Darius hearing that was confused as he remembered him clearly saying that he would help him by pure interest.

"Don't make that face, it won't be too bad. In fact, I don't think you'll even care about it."

Darius couldn't help but create multiple demands in his head, but he couldn't think of many, to be honest.

"It's simple, after analyzing your system, depending on what I find out, I'll want to do some tests on you. Don't worry, they won't be dangerous," added Yorick at the end seeing the face that Darius was making.

"Can you tell me what they're going to be?" asked Darius, trying to get some information.

"Um, no, but I can tell you that I might need to do those tests in a while. So, it won't be right after me making changes to your system."

Darius nodded as he had already expected such an answer, there was no reason for Yorick to reveal what his tests were going to be after all.

"Alright, can we start now?" asked Darius as he wondered if this whole contract would end.

"Yeah, let's do it," said Yorick as he also grabbed hold of the Awakened Contract.

Then, the piece of paper started to emit some light, indicating that the writing of the contract had started.

"In exchange for modifying information in Darius's system and not revealing any information about to others, I will be able to make some tests on Darius afterwards."

Then, as Yorick finished pronouncing those words the light that was coming from the paper died out.

"Is it done?" asked Darius, as he hadn't felt anything different at all.

Then, a beeping sound resounded in his head out of nowhere.

[You have made an Awakened Contract with Yorick Thorn.]

[Break it and you will die.]

Seeing those messages appear in front of him, Darius was now sure that Yorick hadn't lied to him at all.

Darius not having any more questions, simply put his arm forward letting Yorick touch it.

[An unknown source of power is trying to invade your system, do you accept?]

'I accept,' thought Darius, letting the man in front of him do whatever he had to do.

Then, Yorick now had access to Darius's system and he flashed a smile when he saw everything that was written.

Darius had been right, he really had an interesting system and Yorick now understood better why he didn't want to reveal it to anyone.

Then some minutes passed by, and Yorick revealed some interesting expressions while he tried to change Darius's system rank.

But, finally, after half an hour or something like that, it seemed that Yorick was done and had finished his task as he finally seemed to move again.

That was a clear indication that he was finished as Yorick hadn't moved a single muscle during those thirty minutes, well... except his eyelids closing and his chest breathing in and out.

"I'm done, everything should be alright now," said Yorick, who looked exhausted from this whole ordeal.

"I must say, you really are an interesting person, um... what was your name again?"

"Darius, Darius Bloodheart," said Darius as it was the same name that he had in his past life.

It was weird but Darius hadn't thought much about it, to be honest, simply thinking of it as a coincidence.

"Well, Darius, about those tests that I had talked about. I won't need to do them, I think I learned everything that I needed to while having access to your system."

Then, Yorick looked to his right toward Ashe with a smile on his face.

"I don't know how you found such an interesting kid, I'm almost jealous I must say," said Yorick, truly thinking every word that he had just uttered.

Ashe was confused as she didn't know anything about Darius's system except for the fact that he was a Supreme.

Well, that was what she thought as Darius was pretty sure that it wasn't the case.

"Um, before you go Darius could you come with me for a moment, I need to tell you something," said Yorick, letting him know that it was something that he needed to talk to him in private about.

Darius wasn't sure what this related to, however, he simply followed him, not worried about it being a trap since Ashe was right in the other room.

Then, arriving in the other room, Yorick told Darius to sit down on what seemed to be a bed.

"I must say I didn't think you were hiding such a big thing. How come you have a connection with a God?" asked Yorick.

'A connection with a God?' thought Darius, unsure whether or not he was following the conversation.

Then, he remembered what had happened at the Church where he got a message saying that he had strengthened some sort of connection with a god named... Lilia.

He wasn't sure of the name anymore.

'I guess this is the perfect time to learn more about this,' thought Darius, as he would make sure to make the best of this conversation.

"A connection with a God? What's that?" said Darius, acting as if he didn't know about it at all.

"You don't know about it?" asked Yorick, confused, as he had expected Darius to know many things about it.

It wasn't every day that you could see such a thing, and he thought that Darius would be able to give him more information about that matter.

But, it seemed that it was going to be the complete opposite.
