Sassy and safe heroines

After resting for around five minutes that cleared his head and calmed his headache Ali stood up and left. He glanced at his phone and found a few missed calls from Emily and Juliet. "Hmm, was I asleep or just too focused and tired?" He thought and shook his head.

By the time Ali reached the car, the police had already entered the bank and started clearing out all the hostages. As the masked man said he hadn't hurt a single one yet, well nothing serious.

(Guess there was no Arturito with heroic syndrome in this heist, begging to be killed.)

"You okay?" Juliet asked, knowing it was him who killed the guy. Seeing his tired look she thought he was feeling fuzzy over his first kill.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Ali said and walked towards Emily, hoping to have a little conversation, but a sudden shout behind him stopped him in his tracks.

"Mr Arya"

Turning around, Ali frowned as he realized who it was. 'What does this big breasted heroine want now?' He said in his heart remembering a line from the novel he read this morning.

"Can you tell me what you're doing here?" Unaware of his intrusive thoughts, Sophia asked.

"I'm just here to get my friends. They were in the bank too." Ali replied, raising his hand and pointing at Natasha, who was standing by an ambulance with Sia in her arms.

"Can I check your car?" Sophia glanced at Natasha and then turned to ask him another question.

"Why?" Ali replied, raising his eyebrows. 'Did she find something?' He wondered about the guns and shooting, but didn't show any expression on his face.

"The robber at the bank was just shot dead by someone." she said, but hearing her response, Ali responded with a question.

"And what does that have to do with me, or my car?"

"I have reasons to suspect that you, or your guards were involved behind that bullet." Sophia replied in a stern tone, clearly remembering how she saw Ali running away just before the bullet was fired, and his guards coming back with long black cases soon afterwards. And as someone whose family has been in official positions for generations, she was all too familiar with that casing design.

"Please cooperate and let me do my job." Sophia said.

"You know, for someone who's known as righteous and dutiful, you have quite a lot of prejudice against me, don't you?" Instead of answering her, Ali asked his doubts that's been in his mind for over a year now. "Cause from all that I recall I've never actually teased you, wronged you, or roofied you, but you've been chasing me all this time like a stalker girlfriend who got cheated and wants revenge? Is that the case here?"

"You're overthinking it." Sophia said with a little disgust hearing him making up those weird scenarios.

"Am I? You've troubled me over the smallest of things, and never let go of a chance to put me behind bars." Ali sneered at her response.

Only ghosts would believe her lies. This bitch has been appearing every time he's having fun, and ruining his mood for over a year now. Be it when he's out clubbing with his other buddies, hosting a party with a few other young elites and models, or is just simply driving a little over the speed limit on an empty road. She'll ALWAYS pop up with a handcuff.

"You should be glad that I'm kind and generous, cause if you annoyed any other rich guy like this, by now you'd either be resting at home after a suspension , or holding green and red lights in your hands, handling traffic at the red district area." Ali said with a sneer and coldly added. "Do not overdo it."

"You can think what you want, Mr Arya. I'm just doing my job. Now open the trunk." Sophia responded coldly.

Too lazy to argue with an idiot, Ali walked back to his car and opened the door for her, obviously before moving away from her view, his hand swiped inside, taking all the sniper bags into his storage space.

"There. You happy now?" Ali said and stepped aside, while Sophia just frowned, staring at the empty trunk.

'Did I mistake the car?' she thought, looking around confusedly, but Ali's voice broke her thoughts again.

"Shouldn't your first priority be to check the safety of the hostages, instead of coming here to trouble me alone as always?"

"My partners are there for the hostages." Sophia said with a little displeasure in her voice.

She obviously doesn't want to come here alone, especially after getting knocked out by this guy last time, but the moment those constables behind her saw she's coming in his direction, they all turned away and escaped with excuses.

After all, everyone at the station knows she's a little fixated on this guy. And unlike her, the other officers don't have stupid brains supported only by big breasts and lots of luck.

Ali obviously knew all this and seeing her dejected look, he just smiled.

"You said the robber was shot dead, so maybe instead of trying to catch the killer, you should thank him, he did 'your' job and saved so many lives."

Hearing Ali's speech, Sophia just felt her anger rising, this shameless bastard was simply asking for praise and mocking her in a roundabout way.

But knowing getting angry was useless, she took a deep breath and replied. "He killed someone, that's against the law. Not to mention how he could've worsened the situation if he missed."

"He didn't though." Ali replied, looking at the hospital staff who were loading a black dead body bag in the ambulance. "The criminal is killed. The people are safe. No harm done."

"Is it?" Sophia said in displeasure and continued "We could've negotiated and caught the robber alive. But now we have nothing. Now not only will it be harder to catch his partners , but also to track the money they stole from the bank. The 'killer' you want me to thank, just cost this bank half a million cash and much more items and jewelry from the customers that we haven't even counted yet."

"Tell me, is that harmful enough for you?" Sophia said, her voice laced with a little bit of resentment.

"Wait, his partners left with the money?" Ali, who was happy taunting her, stopped smiling and seriously asked, catching her by surprise with the sudden shift in tone.

Knowing his gaffe, he just coughed and asked again. "I'm just curious, since I heard his partners left a long time ago."

Raising her eyebrow in confusion over this guy's sudden seriousness, Sophia shook her head and stopped answering him. "It's an ongoing investigation. The information isn't for public."

'Tsk, this girl. Only a protagonist can handle this level of annoyance and still smile. Would she die if she answered a single question honestly.' Ali cursed in his heart and turned to look at Emily, standing beside him. "Em, can you..?"

"I'll find out." Emily replied before he finished his words and after giving a glaring look at the police girl, she just turned around and walked away.

Ali watched Emily talking to someone on the phone, before he heard a surprised voice calling his name as he turned around.

"Ali?"

Natasha said loudly and walked towards him in slow steps. The female guard, Hotel, was following behind her, a bandage wrapped over her forehead.

"What are you doing here?" Natasha asked, her face beaming with a gentle smile and surprise.

Before Ali could respond, Sia, who seemed to be tired and 'asleep' in her mama's arms, suddenly turned her face around. "Uncle." she shouted happily and then pushed her hands and jumped down from Nat's arms and ran towards him.

"Did you come to save me?" She said loudly, while spreading her arms as Ali bent down to her level.

"Of course." Ali said, pinching her cheeks. "Those bad guys didn't hurt you, did they?" he asked.

"No," Sia hurriedly shook her head, but then as if remembering something, and started speaking "But one of them was coming to catch mama, but then the suit lady gave him a big kick - and 'whoosh' - the bad guy was sent flying in the air. It was awesome."

Hearing her daughter excitedly explaining the horrible experience they went through like telling a fun story waving her little hands and legs like guns and kicks, Natasha had a blank expression on her face. She still couldn't understand where did this little girl even get such courage.

She looked at Ali, who was smiling at her daughter's actions and going along with her story, matching the same enthusiasm, and couldn't help but ask "Did you really come here for us?"

"Hmm." Ali nodded his head, and pointed at the guard behind her. "You're not allowed to be scared, or cry again." he said, seeing a few marks below her eyes. It was negligible over her skin unless someone looked closely, but with heightened sight and senses and a passive of clear mind, Ali could still notice them.

He had seen her struggle and shudder when they were standing by the glass window, and that's why he didn't hesitate to spend his point and pull the trigger. (That was his first kill by the way.)

Natasha heard his words and seeing the serious look he gave her, a warm feeling rose in her heart. She smiled slightly and shook her head, "Okay." was all she could manage to say.

"Hey, mama was so scared, even I'm stronger than her. I didn't even cry once." Sia said, puffing her chest, as if proudly boasting her superiority, causing Natasha to look away from Ali and turn to her.

"Liar, you sobbed in my arms like a cry baby." Natasha replied teasingly.

Hearing that Sia's proud puffing expression dropped like a balloon popping off. But then she glared at her mother and said "That don't count. Cry means tears, and I didn't cry. So I'm strong, right uncle?"

"Of course right. Our Sia's stronger than her mother and she never lies." Ali nodded his head and picked up the little girl in his arms.

"Ahh wait, your injury…" Natasha, who was smiling, saw him doing that and hurriedly shouted, before rushing ahead and trying to take her daughter back from his arms.

But Ali dodged and refused to let go. "I'm fine." he said, before turning around and placing Sia in the car, before pushing her in and sitting beside her.

"Let's go, I'll drop you home." He said, signaling Natasha to come in too.

"My car is here, I'll.."

"Hotel will bring it home behind us, come in." Ali said again and this time Natasha nodded her head and sat beside him.

(Emily sat in the front seat along with the driver, and soon the cars left one by one. Leaving behind a heroine in uniform, who just kept staring at all their interactions and smiles from the sidelines with a confused look till now.)
