'No, you have to admit it!' 'Look at me!' 'Face your fear!'
In the large bed, a beautiful woman was sleeping, with her straight, brown hair in a mess. Her gentle, tanned skin was ruined and filled with her own tears and her glowering eyes were long gone.
Eyes were everywhere and some were filled with pitiness and others with ridicule. Amongst those were two pair of familiar eyes. It was her beloved grandfathers. Coming forward, he was caressing her hair in the same truly caring manner way he used to do when she was sad or worried.
The look he was giving her was utmost loving and caring. A simple glance at his eyes was enough to ensure her that everything was fine, and she could no more see those ridiculed filled eyes anymore.
Standing in front of her, his hands were wrapped around a beautiful, petite, but mature and middle aged lady whose face screamed innocence. On his left side was a middle aged man. His skin was translucent and sharp. He looked at her gently and loving way.
Noticing the three figure smiling at her, everything seemed peaceful and happiness was brimming through her eyes through tears. Wanting to hold on to this forever and never let go of it, she glanced at them and reached out her hands.
As her hands went forward, the three figures eyes looked down at her direction and they painfully smiled at her.
She moved forward, but soon came to realize she couldn't. Her heart felt like being smashed into nothing when she looked at the painful smile on her parents and grandfathers face. She wanted to grasp on to them and never let go..yet she couldn't do anything..she couldnt even move her legs.
Not noticing, a black shadow flew at the speed of a light and the light shined so bright that her eyes blined. Tears started to gush more out of her eyes, and she moved her hands desperately to clung on to her family. She stood in an abyss of a darkness, unsure where she went wrong. Everything was gone in the blink of eyes. Her mother, father and also her grandfather left. They left her alone. She no longer felt the caressing on her hair nor saw the smiling look of her parents.
Not believing it anymore, she apruptly sat up in her bed, her heart hammering against her ribcage.
She ran a shaky hands on her hair, and her eyes couldn't take the brightness of her surrounding, which seems to come out from her opened room door.
Feeling the heavy weight on her side, she looked at it with her wobbled lips as tears pooled behind her eyelids. No matter how much she tried to forget about that horrendous evening, it would come up crawling back in the form of her dreams.
"Auntie Ze, why are you crying?" In the cold, dark lonely room, a sweet voice rang out. Zia struggled to reach her cheecks to wipe the tears out. She stood on the bed and hugged her waist instead.
Noticing her little actions, Aizhe was finally snap back to reality. "Zia baby, when did you get here.."
"Mother said that one should sleep earlier and wake up earlier, thats why I came to wake you up, auntie." Zia explained and jumped on to her excitedly.
"Darling, your mother is right..how was your sleep?" Zia had been staying in the Li Mansion for the past two weeks. She had been playing by Aizhe's side and even refusing to eat by the nanny to only be fed by Aizhe's hands. Two days ago, when they were playing around, Aizhe noticed that Zia liked to call her 'Big sister' and she thought that wasn't a good habit. She was her auntie and it would be better to let her know of their relationship as soon as possible. Zia liked her and didn't take her words seriously, but after a long week of practice, she soon learned to call her 'auntie'.
"Zia had good sleep..but auntie didn't..why was auntie crying?," Zia pouted and held on to her neck tightly.
Aizhe was shunned. She immediately pulled her fake, big smile out and hugged the little cute girl. She stoop up with her in her arms and walked to the long curtains in the long wall. She flunged it open, letting the bright ray of the morning sun to soak into the room. The melancholic darkness in the room before had now washed away into a bright, and sunny room.
Groaning at the intrusion of the light, Zia buried her head into Aizhe's neck. Aizhe chuckled at the little girls behaviour and held her down.
"Auntie wasn't crying..Auntie was not with Zia baby last night, that's why Auntie was sad." Aizhe tried to brush off the topic. She leaned down to explain. Zia had been sleeping with her sometimes. Brother Chen wasnt around that often in the house and Lina wasn't the type to take care of kids. Brother Chen and her had surprisingly maintained good relationship despite their differences. He trusted her and took care of her need with her uncle. She was more than happy and grateful to have such a caring elder cousin.
In the Li Mansion, no one got along with her beside her uncle Hua, Brother Chen and Zia. Lina and her always got into heated argument, Aunt Meng smiled at her but her scornful gaze was undoubtedly not that of a warmth. She never seemed to be favoured by others, thus, most of her time were spent with either looking for works or spending with her Zia baby.
Zia smiled brightly and held on to Aizhe legs. She clunged on to her while Aizhe found her attire for the day. Aizhe looked at the wardrobe and took out a tight black dress and a oversized denim jacket. She went infront of the bathroom door, and slowly leaned down. She looked at Zia and told her to wait for her downstairs at the dining table, while she changed.
Zia pouted but obediently went down. Aizhe quickly finished with her morning routine and hurriedly came downstairs to find the whole Li family members gathered around, with Uncle Hua and Zia sitting next to each other on the round table.
Noticing her curious gaze, Mr. Li indicated her to come sit on the round table with his cold and old, heavy fathom gaze. She hesitantly went forward and sat next to aunt Meng. The atmosphere was so heavy that she couldn't even pick the nearest knife. She was afraid that it will break the room's silence.
