Chapter 4

“How’s it hanging, buddy?” I asked as I leaned against the glass case.

He looked up at me, and I saw the same sad expression I was sure I had on my own face. He also had dark circles under his eyes, which meant he might be going through a sleepless cycle again.

“It’s been thirty-one days, and it sucks,” he groused, not that I blamed him, since he and Laramie had gotten engaged right before the band went to Austria.

“Pathetic, aren’t we?”

“Speak for yourself, man,” he replied. “I’m having Skype sex with Laramie the minute I get home, no matter what the time is over there, or how tired I am.”

“Bastard.” I ran a hand through my hair. I was at my wit’s end with longing and feeling very conflicted.

“Hey, what’s the matter?” Dorian asked, closing the computer lid to focus on me. “Did something happen with you and Chuck before he left? I know I hadn’t seen you and him together for a little while before the band left town.”
