"Myra?" Avery stared into her eyes in shock. She couldn't believe her friend did not allow her to make this call.
"Just one chance. One last chance?" Myra pleaded.
Avery wanted to say something but Myra beat her to it, "If I don't give this final chance, all the sacrifices I have made in the past three years will poke me to death for the rest of my life."
Avery felt sad when she heard her words. She sighed, "What are you going to do?"
"Just one phone call. Nothing else." Myra spoke fast as if she was scared that Avery would go back on her words.
Seeing that everything would be settled with just one phone call, and she wouldn't do anything crazy, Avery agreed.
Myra took a deep breath and took her phone out of her handbag before dialing Asher's phone.
"Put it on speakerphone," Avery ordered. She wanted to see what the scumbag had to say to defend himself.
Myra did not dare to not obey. She pursed her lips and did as she was told. The phone rang. But no one answered.
Both of them saw Asher's phone placed on the table when he was eating. There is no way one would take so long to answer the phone.
Avery's brows furrowed. She felt like her friend was being looked down upon and insulted by doing this. Which wealthy family in the capital wouldn't pray for a day for Myra to talk to them even if it takes a month for the appointment?
But this guy was ignoring her when she was the one calling him?
She diverted her anger towards him to Myra and glared at her.
Myra could read her eyes: 'Did you leave everything in the capital for this kind of man?'
She felt insulted. She lost her face in front of her best friend. She did not dare to look at Avery as she lowered her eyes.
Avery was not insulting her. But she was angry for her friend. Myra too knew this.
She was not ashamed because of Avery's reaction. Instead, she was ashamed of her own decisions.
She looked at her phone and prayed for her phone to be answered. This is the last chance she was giving for her love and her relationship after all. She doesn't want this chance to end up in a failure.
Just when she thought the ringing was about to stop, the call was connected, "Hello?" Asher's cold voice rang through the phone speaker.
Myra felt a little relaxed. She felt there was still some hope in their marriage after all.
"Hello. It's me," She spoke softly.
"What is it?" His cold voice suddenly felt like a bucket of cold water thrown directly at her face.
Even though he always spoke concisely, she felt that when he was talking to that woman, his voice was softer.
"If there is nothing, I am hanging up," Seeing that she hadn't spoken anything for a long time, Asher lost his patience and said coldly.
Myra's grip on her phone tightened, "Where are you?"
Even though she did not like the tone he used to speak to her, she wanted to see if he would answer her truthfully.
If he said that he was with his friend, then she would have a proper talk with him about what she had seen that day.
She hoped for nothing but truth in her marriage. She felt she was not asking for anything big.
But crashing her hopes, the reply she heard was, "Office. I am busy here. I am hanging up."
The call was disconnected before she could speak.
She felt like it was not just the call that was broken. It was also her heart and also her three years of marriage, which she had always thought would be for eternity.
Avery's face darkened when she understood how badly her friend was being treated after marriage.
Until then, she thought that it was only her in-laws who were treating her badly. Luckily, her husband did not let her stay with his family and, thus, it wasn't a big deal as long as she was happy with her husband.
That was what she thought, but only now did she understand that it wasn't good at all.
If a husband treats his wife like this while treating his girlfriend like that, then what is the need to stay in this marriage?
She looked sharply at Myra and wanted to say that the last chance she gave was over.
But before she could utter a word, a phone rang. It was Avery's.
The phone was still in Myra's hand since she pulled it earlier to disconnect the call.
When they looked at the screen it showed that it was Myra's second brother who had called.
Avery started at Myra and said, "Myra, give me the phone."
She thought that she would disconnect the call once again. So, she ordered seriously.
Unlike her predictions, Myra answered the call and placed it over her ear, "Lanyi, it's me."
"..." There was silence as no one spoke. Harper Gu was so shocked to hear this familiar voice that he too forgot to speak.
After a few seconds of silence, Myra was the one to speak, "Lanyi, I need your help."
"What is it?" Harper Gu replied seriously. It was the first time in the past three years his sister had spoken to him. And it was for something he could do for her. He was over the moon.
At that moment, if she asked him to pluck the stars from the sky and give them to her, he would definitely go to a space station, take a rocket, go to outer space, and get as many stars for her as he could.
But what she asked was not for stars. Instead, she said, "I want a divorce. Help me prepare my divorce papers. I want them on my terms."
There was silence at the other end of the phone once again. After a couple more minutes, Harper Gu spoke in a solemn voice, "Okay. I understand. Wait for my call."
After that, he hung up.
Since she contacted him using Avery's phone, it meant they were together. He felt that there was no need to worry about her for now. His first priority is to get rid of that husband whom she randomly caught on the road and raised for the past three years.
Now that she wanted to get rid of that baggage, he was more than happy.

When Myra came back home with no energy, she was met with an extra person sitting on the couch in the living room.
"Where did you go? While my son was busy earning money, did you go to splurge all outside on random things?" Asher's mother gave her a look of disgust as she looked down on her daughter-in-law.
Myra was already used to her words as this was not the first time she was treated as a freeloader in this family.
Myra did not have the mood to deal with this woman right now. In fact, she had lost all patience.
She tolerated her only because she was her husband's mother. Now that she was about to get rid of her husband, there was no need for her to be polite to this mother-in-law anymore.
She did not glance at her as she turned to go upstairs to her room.
When she was ignored like that, Mother Han was angered, "Stop right there. How dare you ignore me?"
