Chapter Three

The game started and both teams made their way to their respective lanes.

"Looks like OpTic Gaming is using the 1-2-2 strategy." Yufei shared looking at Fenhua's screen. "What rotation are you guys doing?" He then asked looking at them.

"The 2-2-1 rotation." Daoming answered.

On the map all players have already arrived at the center of their lanes and the battle began between them.

Lie Wei looked at Yufei who looked like he was calculating what chances they had of winning. Li Wei then walked up to him and murmured, "What are you thinking about?"

Yufei tilted his head towards Li Wei and used his pinky to point at the screen, "Well in both the top and bot lane it's two against one. While the top lane is in our favor the bot lane is in theirs. Their bot lane has both the ADC and support while ours only has the ADC."

"Do you think they can pull this off." Li Wei then asked.

"It's too early to tell, but so far so good." Yufei analyzed.

They watched as the boys played the game. After a while and a few turrets has been destroyed Li Wei asked, "Can you explain the 1-2-2 rotation to me again?"

Yufei then explained, "The composition of a 1-2-2 rotation is that two main heroes, in their case is a marksman and assassin. One side-laners that is a fighter, one tank and either a support or mage, but they chose a mage. The fighters take the top lane whereas one main which is the damage dealer and the tank go for the mid lane, The other main and support go for the bot lane. Their tank and mage can switch positions at a suitable time. The objective is to make the two main heroes stronger for the late game. The damage dealer is very crucial in stealing buffs from the enemy and countering the opponents strategy whereas the other main hero focuses on leveling up for the late-game damage."

Lie Wei nodded in understandment and then asked, "What about the 2-2-1 rotation?"

"It's basically the same as the 1-2-2 rotation only difference is that there would be only the fighter and the other main hero in the top, and just like the 1-2-2 the tank and damage dealer will be in the mid lane. As for the bot lane they would only have the support or the mage, in this case they are also playing with a mage. And also like the 1-2-2 the tank and mage can switch positions at any suitable time also. The objective is the same for both rotations." Yufei clarified.

Li Wei then concluded, "So since OpTic is using 1-2-2 and we're using 2-2-1 which is vice versa to their rotation. That means it all comes down to the face off in the late game to see whose going to win."

Yufei then smirked, "Yup, this game is a game of whose better, especially for the mid lane since the players for the mid lane is the same which is the tank and damage dealer. For them it's who can farm and get most buffs. If these kids want to have a chance at getting the upper hand they need to improvise without breaking the teams cooperation. This game is going to be really interesting."

They both continued to watch the game as it got more intense and difficult. OpTic Gaming already had the upper hand on them as they struggled to keep the game going.

The turrets for both teams mid, top and bot lane has all been reduced down to only one. And now it was down to the final minutes of the game. All players grouped in the middle for the 5 on 5 battle. When the battle started Yufei stooped down to Si Cong's ears and whispered something to him.

The battle was getting more and more fierce as members from each team kept dying and resurrecting.

Suddenly the words 'Blue team has destroyed a turret' popped up on the screen; revealing that Legends had destroyed a turret of OpTic Gaming, and it was the final turret in the mid-lane before getting to OpTic's base. When OpTic's attention was distracted for that split second and their defense was let down Legends took their chance and doubled their offence. They killed their opponents and quickly made their way up the mid lane to their enemies base, and Si Cong regrouped with them there.

They fired all their attacks towards the enemies base which HP deteriorated rather quickly and the words, 'VICTORY' appeared on their screen. Suchang, Si Cong, Daoming, Fenhua, and Sile all froze and watched the screen speechless. Meanwhile everyone else in the room cheered for the team has made their first win ever in over two years. Yufei however, was only smiling and walked behind Suchang placing his hand on the boys shoulder, "This feeling that your feeling, I want you guys to remember it, this is what winning feels like."

He then looked at Li Wei, Xin Yi, and Wuxian signaling them to step out the room and give the boys space to celebrate.

They stepped outside and before the door closed they heard the slight happy sobbing of the boys.

Li Wei then gasped, "I'm not dreaming am I?"

Xin Yi pinched him and he grunted in pain, "No you're not, that literally just happened. They got their first win."

They all then looked at Yufei in awe, Li Wei then asked, "What did you say to Si Cong."

Yufei then recalled, "I saw that they were going to lose if they didn't think fast about what to do. So I helped them by telling Si Cong that he should lead an enemy near the grass and when he kills him, he should hide in the grass, and that he should continue up the map by hiding in the grasses until he reached the turret. When he arrives at the turret, little by little he should attack it. It was just a wild guess in the moment. I didn't think it would work."

"But it did." Li Wei reassured him. "So, what do you think?" he then asked Yufei.

"Although they each have their flaws, which can be fixed in due time; overall they're good. There were some parts in the game where they made tiny errors, and it was those errors that gave the opponent an upper hand. If they didn't make those mistakes they would have won a long time ago." Yufei reviewed.

Li Wei then exhorted, "So, will you do it."

Yufei looked into the room filled with blue illuminated lights through the transparent doors. Seeing them so happy, cheerful, and the look in their eyes of them hoping this wasn't a dream, reminded him of the time when Team Heroes had their first win. They were just as this happy and excited.

Yufei smiled and agreed, "Yes, I'll do it."

Xin Yi, Wuxian and Lie Wei all exhaled, relieved that the team wouldn't have to disband. Xin Yi then led Yufei to her office so he could sign the contract.

After that Xin Yi that told Yufei of what he was expected to do, "Now that you're their manager you are responsible for them. Since the majority of the sponsors pulled out, we don't have enough money to pay for a coach so you are also to coach and train them. Lastly you are expected to turn them into the best team there is by taking them to the next league competition and have them go all the way to the championships win the summoners cup."

At hearing this Yufei started to choke, "The next league competition? That's only about six months away. I'll take them at least one or two years before they can be ready to go to the championships. What happened to them today was just a fluke, because of hearing how bad this team is; OpTic gaming didn't even give it their all."

"You said it yourself that their flaws can be fixed." Xin Yi repeated. "Just say if you can do it or not, Are they capable of it?"

Yufei looked at Xin Yi, "If they work hard enough maybe they can do it."

"Although you already signed the contract, because it's a tough choice I'll give you this chance to back out, if you do Team Legends will be no more by tomorrow, if you decide to stay, you can start from tomorrow. You will be living with them here so your things will be gathered and moved through the day tomorrow." Xin Yi explained.

Yufei ran his fingers through his hair as he thought hard about what to do. He didn't want them to disband. He knew exactly how the team felt for he had been in their shoes before. The feeling of having the whole world tell you that you should just give up since it's not working out. He knew the feeling of wanting to prove them wrong. It was hard enough that him and his friends had to go through all of it alone, he thought of how he at least wanted to be the light of this team that they will look towards instead of being alone in the dark.

He lifted his head from his hands and accepted by saying, "I'll try my best."

Xin Yi excitedly smiled and reached for his hand shaking it, "Thank you for doing this."

After a while Yufei and Xin Yi both walked to the door of her office and as the door was pulled open, the seven boys along with Li Wei and Wuxian fell inside on the ground.

They all grunted in pain and as for Li Wei who was at the bottom of the pile with his face squished on the floor wailed. "How I only knew." Xin Yi chuckled.

Everyone quickly got up off the floor and straightened their attire watching Xin Yi hoping to hear good news.

Xin Yi then announced, "Let's welcome Yufei, your new manager."

All the boys started cheering and hugged Yufei thanking him for agreeing to be their manager, all happy that because of this they won't need to disband.

"Can't breathe." Yufei struggled to say as they all squeezed him. Xin Yi then joked, "All right boys let him go, you don't want to kill him now do you?"

They all apologized releasing Yufei and who gasped for air as they did. He then said, "To celebrate you guy's first win, I want to take you all out for food, you choose where we eat. My treat."

At hearing this the boys cheered more and Fenhua shouted, "Let's have hotpot."

Everyone agreed and headed to the nearest hotpot restaurant. While they ate Yufei watched in happiness as the boy ate happily, laughing and joking around as he recalled again of the time Team Heroes won their first match.

They also decided to have a hotpot to celebrate their win. They laughed and smiled recalling on how many obstacles and challenges they had before getting there. Yufei saw his team a lot in this team, these boys resembled them so much that all he wanted to do was get them their own Summoner's Cup, and help them prove to everyone who ever doubted them wrong.

After a while Yufei walked out the restaurant for fresh air. Suchang saw this and followed behind him. When he got outside beside Yufei he questioned, "I wonder if this is how it felt like for him?"

Yufei puzzledly asked, "For who?"

"Checkmate." Suchang replied then added, "I wonder if this is how he felt when he won his first game?"

Yufei looked at the smiling Suchang, "Well what do you think?"

Upon hearing Yufei's question, Suchang quickly answered, "Yeah, he must have did."

Yufei then stated turning his head back in front of him, "Doesn't everyone feels this way when they win?"

Suchang then answered, "No, the feeling's different when you have lost for so many times."

Yufei then realized what Suchang meant. That Suchang was right when he said this, winning does feel different after you have lost for so many times. It makes you feel like you could finally breathe after holding your breath for so long. It increased the little bit of hope you had left.

Yufei then looked up to the sky and shared, "You're right. Checkmate must have felt exactly like this when he had his first win. and what must have made that win all the more better was that he did it with his teammates." Turning to Suchang he then said, "But just like everyone else, when you've had a taste of winning, you become hungry for more."

Suchang then asked, "What do you mean?"

"Winners who keep winning doesn't fear losing because they think that they can never be beaten. But losers who win fight as hard as they can to keep winning because they have had a taste of losing and being at the edge of the cliff; holding on hoping that they could get back up. It's this that will be you guy's fuel to keep winning." Yufei spoke.

Suchang then recalled, "Is that why you told us to remember this feeling?"

Yufei nodded, "Yes, so every time you feel like you're about to give up. When you remember how you felt now, it'll give you the drive to keep going."

Suchang smiled ad they talked and laughed for a while before heading back inside to join the others.
