Cloak, Legilimency & Occlumency [Must Read: Not a Chapter]

So many people would have wondered that why did Harry in his battle during Quidditch World Cup did not fired his spells remaining invisible.

Well he could have done since it is a fantasy fanfiction but that would pull all the interest in battles if Harry could simply remain invisible.

So I have RESTRICTED the cloak. The cloak was made to sneak and hide and that would be its sole purpose. Meaning as long as you are hidden you cannot cast a magical spell.

Secondly the cloak only fools the eyes and magical wards and protection; which means ears, noses and touch would still work. So, Harry could be heard from the cloak, he could be smelt and felt upon coming in contact.

The other look I gave Harry with his cloak is simply to give him a cool look and a medium to hide his identity. And don't fret over the cloak being used in such a manner. I could have simply used a magical spell or a family heirloom from any of the families or even more, an inferior version of the cloak made by Ignotus Peverell before the perfected version was created.

● Legilimency: Many would have questions that why does Harry simply not read the minds to discover the truth?

Well he could have done it but again then what will the story explore? So, I have RESTRICTED legilimency.

1. Passive legilimency could be used only to gather surface thoughts of mind only if the person have no structured mindscape.

Most wizards and witches are trained by their families in mind arts but rarely one is talented enough. People like Dumbledore, Snape, Voldemort and now Harry can read the surface thoughts of such people too, thanks to their mastery in the mind arts, but any deeper they would be discovered.

2. By actively performing the spell of 'Legilimency' one can enter the others' person mindscape completely and read any kind of memories if they are able to overcome the defence of the invaded mind.

But it cannot be done by remaining in hiding. Whether the person knows Occlumency or not it will not matter, once invaded even a muggle will feel the information being extracted from their minds.

● OCCLUMENCY: This is the mind art used to protect the mind from invasion by structuring and building defences in the mindscape.

An organised mind is also useful in keeping, processing, retaining and extracting information from the mind.

It also helps in maintaining control over one's emotions.

It helps in faster spell casting.

It will also help in battles as spells will be faster to cast, mind will process things faster and will think faster about what spell to cast, where to dodge, etc.
